Forgiveness and Responsibility

by Rev. Robert B. Mills

imageI can relate to having one definition of something and “running” with it in my mind and piling other meanings on top of that meaning to get to some other place. I guess that is the ego “auto pilot” system that is amazing and at times keeps me in the dark.

Even when I do my “spiritual work” I am still capable of miscuing and thinking it is something else. I think that is called “blissing over it.”

For example, I can think and process something with Inner Guidance and think I am dealing with the Truth. But no one else gets the same response or is at odds with “my take” of the solution. I do have noble intentions, really I do, but the “you must be mistaken” comes up in my mind and I either withdraw, gloss over the issue, or find intellectual conventions to support or reject what ever gets in the way. All of this done in a nano second without my conscious intent. When I have the “fight to the death” attitude, hopefully I will stop and notice my peace went out the window.

All of this is happening in my mind. It can be orderly or not so obedient and it follows thousands of years of momentum. This tiny segment of my mind that I thought could be separate from God has been center stage and it seems for eons of time. It looks so real and feels so real, that I began to believe it and only it as reality. I drive myself nutz or you drive me nutz. It does not matter, I am nutz. “Savvy?” (From Pirates of the Caribbean, Capt Jack Sparrow.)

When enough is enough and I give up in frustration and honesty, it seems the answer only comes when I let go of my self will and surrender it all to God. Let go let God. This is not a casual endeavor.

The mainstay in letting go and letting God is forgiveness. My old definition that was at one time center stage of my self will was, “I see your sins, errors, misfortune, as real and I will excuse it this time and please don’t screw up again.” That bad/good scenario of judgment on my part really did not clear or correct my focusing on the error. With this scenario you remain separate from me and I am “better” than you, but I know your behavior can change to be like mine. That is the beginning of “nutz.”

True forgiveness is when I see the error was in my perception of you being capable of errors, sins, and misfortune. I mistakenly created them in my own mind and truly realize that no sin is really there, except in my own mind and that I have missed the mark. I can, through forgiveness, let that go and thus come to the truth, releasing my mind from distortions of separation, and then truly see the Holy Son of God in front of me. Then the hardest part for me is to do nothing. The Course tells me, “Do nothing, then, and let forgiveness show you what to do, through Him Who is your Guide, your Savior and Protector, strong in hope, and certain of your ultimate success.” (W-pII.1.5:1)

When I go back to the basics I find the simplicity: What does the Course say? There is no world. Only the Love of God is real. How do I come to that reality? True forgiveness is my only function. So it is.

So in total honesty and responsibility I can say I am truly sorry if I have ever said too much, too little, or inappropriately slighted you in any way. We are incapable of any such error in Reality and will always be One Light in the Mind of God. Now and Forever more. And I love you.

Healing Relationships

by Rev. Veronika Wilcox

imageRelationships are in great need of healing. I have found A Course in Miracles of great help in this healing process.

Here is what I have learned as main points when things go wrong and there is conflict and with it the loss of peace and love.

1. I feel that I need to be a special way to suit the other.

2. The other needs to be a special way to suit me.

3. I am using the relationship for my own needs and my own purpose instead of surrendering it to the Holy Spirit to use it His way for the good of all.

4. I do not see the other with the eyes of Christ but with the eyes of the ego. That is, I judge everybody from a personal and limited standpoint.

5. Once I am prepared to give instead of to get, things change rapidly.

6. I have to have an honest and trusting relationship with myself. Hiding things from myself and judging myself brings fear of self and therefore also fear of others.

7. If I practice first of all to relate to the Holy Spirit, the Voice for God in me, everything else just falls harmoniously into place. I See the Holiness in Myself and My Brother.

I accept the happiness of seeing innocence… I joyfully see the eternal Light in my brother and myself…

I see the world through happy eyes.

(From course 905, Pathways of Light)

And last, how I perceive the other is only a mirror how I am feeling within myself. When I am filled with love for God, I can only love my brothers. When I am filled with doubts and insecurities, I project this unto others.

Not Guilty

by Rev. Veronika Wilcox

imageWhat is it like to be unselfish? What is it like to be truly loving? They are one and the same for Love is unselfish and it is of God therefore I don’t have to ‘make’ it.

This became clear to me today when I had to make a decision. I so much wanted to be unselfish and consider others in my life. I felt their needs and desires but it created a conflict with what I felt was right for me. I turned to Holy Spirit who is the ever accessible wisdom in my mind. Then I noticed a poster that I had put up above my desk. It is a saying of White Eagle:  YOUR TRUE SELF The first and greatest claim upon you is the claim of God, or of your spirit; or, in other words, your higher self. Your true self is a shining spirit. You must be true to that shining spirit above all things. Let nothing draw you aside from your soul’s pursuit of truth and light and eternal love.

This clarified the whole situation for me. I can try really hard to please others and it might work for a while and be quite satisfying but mostly it doesn’t work because human wishes are so many. Mary Baker Eddy said to follow her only as far as she follows Christ. Then I started to feel queasy and noticed guilt in my feelings. I listened to a CD from Course 912: Accepting Holy Spirit’s Help (Pathways of Light course) and it said:

“The Holy Spirit is showing you your innocence…” and, “You are now becoming more aware of your true inner Light, your Beingness in Love… your true Identity…” This was an important reminder, that of my true Identity in God. I was healed.

Just Remember… It’s a Dream

by Rev. Mary Manke

image In the confusion and merriment of making a move in the world of form, I find that part of my mind puts up many forms of resistance to truth. There seems to be myriad distractions to keep my attention on the things of this world. Yet I always have a choice. Do I want illusions or truth, conflict or peace, fear or Love? Today I had a moment to receive insight from Spirit and it follows…

Me: How can I be truly helpful?

Just forgive, true forgiveness is the way Home.

You can forgive yourself for all the things that you “save” to make you feel safe. All things are distractions to keep you “busy” with form, and to forget the truth that remains in you.

You are not alone Sara. I am forever with you as you are forever with God. There is no distance in Love, there is no separation in Love, there is no time in Love. There is no opposite to Love. Love is All there is.

You fear that you are imperfect, and then you “see” all the ways that you fail in perfection. The ego tells you, “You are not perfect, so you are not the same as God.” When you listen to the ego, you find witnesses to what is false.

You think that you are lacking, an impossible child that failed its parents. So the world became an image of that belief; you failed your father, you failed your mother — and even your brother and his family. Yet the world is false perception; false ideas given images to make the world appear real.

You think that the body is ill. That is another reflection of guilt buried in your mind. It is always the guilt made from the dream of separation from Love.

You still think it happened, that you did separate from your only Source. This is a madman’s dream, with no foundation at all.

As you continue to pack boxes, and do the chores of everyday, just remember that it is a dream. Remember that it is your purpose to forgive the dream, to let go of each fragment as it appears to you. Remember it is meaningless.

Do not take the form seriously — the images of form are not real. Give the images to Holy Spirit. He will show you what is real. Be willing to let go of your perception, be willing to receive a new thought in place of the old. There is no greater purpose for you in this moment.

Me: Thank you Holy Spirit.
