Seeming Injustices

I’m struggling lately with things that are going on at work. The circumstances I am referring to are typical corporate ways to handle problems. See a problem, and then figure out the quickest way to make it go away, since we don’t have time to fix the root problem because it involves way too many business functions and processes.

Okay, so now that the ego has spoken, I know I cannot respond in the ego fashion. I realize that retaliation does not work and doesn’t even feel right. I know that any message I convey needs to be for the good of all concerned. Which means I can state my concerns and not wish harm on anyone else.

When feeling like folks are out to get you, it is hard to stay in the place of safety, the place of healing, the place of security. The ego wishes to say, “Save yourself since no one else is going to save you. Get yourself covered first, before they act.”

So I continue to pray about how to handle the situation. I also pray that I understand what my role is, when to act and when to wait for the situation to rectify itself. Since not everything needs to be solved by my “doing” something.

And lastly, I cannot be attached to the outcome. It could be the outcome looks bad, it could be the outcome looks good. I do not know all the pieces, and so therefore cannot see the entire outcome for everyone involved. I can only see what I know, and I know I don’t know everything. I may never know all the pieces.

So, as I struggle still with the outcome of this situation, I pray that all be healed in this process. I pray that we realize we are all one, and when we hurt another we really hurt ourselves.

Complete Surrender Prayer

In the state of complete surrender you will have put Me in charge. Everything you say or do from that point will be in accordance with our Father’s will.

Here will you find true joy, here will you find peace, here will you find Love. Here will you find the Kingdom of Heaven.

Let go of your little world, it offers you nothing. Instead focus on your true Self. Make manifest Christ. This is your only function.

Are you not done playing? The choice is yours — happiness, peace or death and destruction. You can pretend as long as you choose but pretend you will for Heaven awaits you and this you can no longer deny.

Join with your Father in a sea of bliss and let His radiance shine through you as He would have for His Son.

Stay with me and forget not that I am your true Self. I would not lead you astray.

I see only one path leading to only one goal and I will lovingly and gently guide each step toward the direction of the Holy Father.

And remember, at any time we can quit doing this and you can remember that you are already Home.

Choose Joy

Can you think of a better way to spend a day than to be in joy? Joy overcomes all heavy thoughts, all worries and all fears. It is very easy for me to choose joy because I like to be in joy. Joy is an attribute of our loving nature, and when I allow joy to spread through me it elevates my entire being. I cannot, really, at the same time be fearful and be in joy, or be worried and be joyous, or even experience pain at the same time as joy.

Joy is, as mentioned in the Teachers Manual (M-4.V), “the inevitable result of gentleness. Gentleness means that fear is now impossible, and what could come to interfere with joy? The open hands of gentleness are always filled.” (M-4.V1-3).

I have found that I forget about joy when I am not in the Now, when I worry about the future or other people’s opinion about me.

I was helping a friend recently with a very frustrating problem, as he perceived it. He was not in a good mood and kept stating how bad he was and how worried about what he had become, etc. I could see how it pulled him down and only made him feel worse. In part I felt that he said these things to be comforted and expected to be told that he was wrong. I also saw that, as he hoped he was wrong, he acted very much as if he had entered his worst nightmare.

The Course tells us that we are perfect creations of God, and I believe that is so. I also experience daily how the ego tries to convince me that I am inferior or lacking in many ways. So, I know very well how the ego works in me, and I know that it is very clever and cunning. It takes a lot of awareness on my part to even recognize what is of the ego and what is not. Fortunately, the Course helps me how to deal with the ego once I have identified my ego thoughts: I give it no value and see the ego and this world as an illusion that separates me from God. Its purpose is to separate, and it is my choice to continue to accept it or to choose God. That is not always so easy — even though it gets easier with practice. However, we ‘love’ those things that we identify with as ‘me,’ ‘mine,’ ‘my image’ and ‘my reputation,’ ‘my body,’ etc. We want to ‘look good’ and be seen as ‘successful’ or ‘smart,’ or whatever we value. We have created an image of ourselves that is not in line with our true Identity. Yet, we think that is ‘who we are,’ and since we worked to shape ourselves and what we think is our image in the world, we don’t want to let go of this just yet. I certainly have not succeeded in this fully.

To return to my friend’s nightmare, I tried to help him find a more positive way to look at himself as well as his problem. He was a beginning ACIM student, so he was open to another approach and a better way.

But there was a point where I allowed myself to be pulled into the apparently difficult situations, and I did not like the feeling of this chaos. When I don’t like things I quickly look for an escape, and so my thoughts went towards other things I could have been doing, and how all this confusion was holding me up. I had many things on my schedule, and I felt some pressure to make the next meeting.

Then I remembered that morning I had decided to choose joy. I realized I was far from a joyful state, and so I repeated to myself silently that I wanted to return to joy. Surprisingly or not, the entire scene changed. I let go of my worries of future engagements and put it all into the Creator’s hands. I was able to refocus myself and expected things to be in perfect order. And sure enough, the problem resolved itself happily and easily. It truly was a miracle. It turned out to be ‘nothing.’

It was so obvious to me that we could have gone down the road of worst case scenario, spent lots of money to resolve the crisis, he could have gotten sick, for he was heading that way, and all his fears about who he thought he was could have been confirmed. Instead, it became a chance to be very grateful and to let joy fill us.

“Joy goes with gentleness as surely as grief attends attack. ...And they are sure His Teacher goes before them, making sure no harm can come to them” (M-4.V.8,10).

“My brother, peace and joy I offer you, That I may have God’s peace and joy as mine.” (W-p1.105.7:2)

Prayer of Gratitude

Beloved Heavenly Father, Thank you for all of the blessings in my life. Thank you for sending me Your Holy Spirit that teaches me to love and forgive myself daily for the mistakes that I think I’ve made, and to provide me with loving guidance. Thank you for healing my mind through Your gentle love and kindness, and for using me as a vessel to expand that Love.

Mighty I Am Presence, Source of all Peace and Truth; I am truly grateful for the holy relationships in my life, and for the opportunities to learn understanding and forgiveness through them. I am also grateful for the holy encounters that I come in contact with each day that teach me about seeing Your Love and Goodness in others, thus seeing it in myself.

Blessed Creator, help me to deeply appreciate the lessons I experience as a part of Spirit’s curriculum for my continued growth. Help me to have a greater commitment to remembering my Oneness with You and all those You send to me for our equal learning and teaching. Help me to honestly appreciate that You have placed the solution right within each perceived problem, and that my “problems” are already solved!

Divine Power of Love, I’m so glad that You are always present in my life and to know that Your Kingdom is within me. I’m glad that I can trust that Your ways are always right, and that what is impossible for me, is possible for You! I’m glad that You always have my best interest at Heart and that no matter what I think or do in this illusion, You will always Love me.

Thank you Almighty Father for Your Peace, Your Love and Your Light. Thank You for the joy and contentment that knowing You brings. Thank You for being my best Friend and Companion. Thank You for Your presence morning, noon and night, through thick and thin, rain or shine, forever!
