My husband yelled from the bedroom, “I think this receiver is dead.” “Great.” I thought. Another hour down the drain on instant chat with AT&T while they want me to re-run every test we have already run to order to convince them we need a new one.
I knew this was ‘my job’ to get fixed. But I hoped that if I put it off long enough, someone else would take care of it.
Nope, if I didn’t want to end up paying every month for a broken box, I was going to have to follow through.
Days went by and I finally sat down at the computer to start the long, arduous process.
About a half-hour in, I was about to blow my top! I was not being the light of the world in that moment!
All of a sudden, it happened.
The Divine Alarm clock went off. I realized I was no longer at peace — what master am I serving in this moment? It certainly wasn’t God.
I asked Holy Spirit for guidance and was led to the Ho’oponopono prayer (I love you, I’m sorry, Please forgive me, Thank you) right then and there.
The on-line chat wrapped up; the receiver was in the mail.
As I sat there afterwards, a few things came to me. I asked to see, and I was given vision.
In the middle of my review of what had just happened, I remembered a prayer from ACIM I had just read that day:
“This presents a problem to me
which I would have resolved.
The miracle behind this grievance
will resolve it for me.
The answer to this problem is the
miracle that it conceals.” (W-90.2:2-4)
I asked to see the miracle and instantly peace came. In the afterglow of basking in that miracle, another came.
I had been thinking this endeavor was going to be a pain in my butt for weeks beforehand and certainly when I sat down at my computer. I thought it was going to be difficult, and guess what? It was.
I got exactly what I asked for. That is how much God loves me.
Maybe next time I could choose to think “Awesome, now I get to talk to some really nice people and to join with them — how freakin’ lucky am I?” when I am faced with dealing with customer service.
After all, I AM the Light of the World!
I found the above musing sitting in a file on my computer simply marked “writings.” It was dated almost exactly six years ago.
So, as I reflect over the last six years, have I chosen to think, “Awesome, now I get to talk to some really nice people and to join with them — how freakin’ lucky am I?” more often than not when dialing that customer service number of any company?
I am grateful to say for the most part, YES! Sometimes, it is not until the middle of the interaction, when I have been placed on hold, again. But in that hold, I remembered my purpose and remembered why I am here, and I had an attitude adjustment.
Have things always been resolved my way? Of course not, but they have always been resolved. And I get to practice forgiveness along the way. A pretty good deal, if you ask me.

“By deciding against your reality, you have made yourself vigilant against God and His Kingdom.” (T-10.II.6:5)
Every moment of every waking day we have the choice to recognize the Love that surrounds us, the Love that we share, and the Love that connects all of life in this universe.
Or we can choose to view through the body’s eyes, the constantly changing script the ego puts forth in our “life’s” experience with the mind’s trickery. Thoughts, feelings, memories, emotions, all just recycling based on the collective data from our life’s past, projecting onto the future.
“Would you be hostage to the ego or host to God? You will accept only whom you invite.” (T-11.II.7:1-2)
Let’s pause… Allow our minds to receive Him. We are now in God’s waiting room….. Peace, awareness, just being, comes to my experience. My mind quiets… I hear a still small voice say,
“Be the Love you are. Be the joy I created you to be, receive from me the gifts that are held in abundance awaiting your reception. Lean in, know I am always here, listening, waiting, for you to hear my direction, one of healing, one of love, of peace, of abundance. Miracles I have bestowed upon my children. Give to me your shame, for in error, you just forgot where you were, give me your guilt for thinking you were separate. For you were an idea in My Mind, you have never left Me. Give to Me your perceived pain and suffering, for I receive these errors in your mind as gifts from you. I gladly receive your misperceptions for I am only Love. Nothing else. And so are you!”
“Ask me which miracles you should perform.” (T-1.III.4:3)
There is a deep healing occurring on this planet. We are now more than ever being faced with choosing between Love or fear. We are being faced with looking within our own thought systems, collectively and individually. Where does anything we think come from anyway?
If we are thinking with the Mind of God, we know we are at peace, we feel Love, we feel confidence in any experience our five senses may be having. To vibrate at a higher frequency with our Creator puts us in a different experience.
Prayer is my first order of choice to bring me there. “The way is not hard, but it is very different. Yours is the way of pain, of which God knows nothing. That way is hard indeed, and very lonely. Fear and grief are your guests, and they go with you and abide with you on the way. But the dark journey is not the way of God’s Son. Walk in light and do not see the dark companions, for they are not fit companions for the Son of God, who was created of light and in light. The Great Light always surrounds you and shines out from you. How can you see the dark companions in a light such as this? If you see them, it is only because you were denying the light. But deny them instead, for the light is here and the way is clear.” (T-11.III.4:1-10)
The time has come to break through the veil of the body’s illusions. We must connect within, and extend out, we must raise our vibration of Love with one another, moving from an experience of separation and return to God’s unified Love.
As we witness the darkness being brought to the Light, it is affecting each of us in similar yet different ways. We need each other now more than ever, we need God now more than ever.
As we ascend into the Light that we are, the density falls away, the sorrow falls away, fear will no longer be the dictator. The desire to join with the Father is a natural desire, one born of an organic return to Love. As we open our hearts, open our minds, we experience that we are not alone — releasing and letting go of the narratives of this world from fear to Love, in unity with each other, guided by the Holy Spirit. We cannot lose! The god of sickness is not your God.
“All healing is essentially the release from fear.” (T-2.IV.1:7)
Come, Come, into the Kingdom!
All we really want is God’s Love.
A miracle can happen now…

In the Teacher’s Manual (M-20 pg. 51) we learn what is the Peace of God. Jesus itemizes the questions and steps we take to obtain it. It is a very useful look at what it means. We all know that we should want and join the Peace of God, but we often don’t find the connection or don’t know what it is supposed to feel like.
“What is the peace of God?
“It has been said that there is a kind of peace that is not of this world. How is it recognized? How is it found? And being found, how can it be retained? Let us consider each of these questions separately, for each reflects a different step along the way.” (M.20.1)
“First, how can the peace of God be recognized?
God’s peace is recognized at first by just one thing; in every way it is totally unlike all previous experiences.” (M.20.2:1-2)
So, here we are asked to look for something quite different, something that is not a common, everyday experience. We may think … oh, I’ll never get there, and if I don’t know what it feels like, how can I know that it is the peace of God, rather than some ordinary peaceful feeling?
Jesus continues to explain:
“It calls to mind nothing that went before. It brings with it no past associations. It is a new thing entirely. There is a contrast, yes, between this thing and all the past. But strangely, it is not a contrast of true differences. The past just slips away and in its place is everlasting quiet. Only that.” (M.20.2:3-9)
How nice to think: It is a new thing entirely. When we ask for this peace, we are asking for something quite different. We realize the old way of just being quiet is not enough. We want to go beyond the ordinary quiet and finally allow the past to just slip away.
Our minds quickly get filled with past thoughts, which make the mind jump to see the future just like the past. But here we want to stay in the present, let all things from the past be gone, be quiet, move into an entirely different thing.
As I think about that, it feels so refreshing to let go of the same old ways of being, but allow the mind to trust, to be neutral and rest in God. Past experiences cannot take me there.
The next question asked is:
“How is the quiet found?
“No one can fail to find it who but seeks out its conditions. God’s peace can never come where anger is, for anger must deny that peace exists.” (M.20.3:1-3)
Of course, we are not looking for anger when we are looking for peace, but anger may motivate us to find peace because anger is not helpful in any way. Yet, I have met several people who don’t want to let go of anger because of the energy within it. They believe that it will help them move forward. And indeed, it can. However, we need to be aware that it needs to move us towards something better, something more effective, not more destructive. Anger can quickly move us into the wrong direction. And, as Jesus says, anger must deny peace exists. We know anger well, but how often have we experienced true peace?
So, as we choose anger, we deny peace.
Jesus continues with this:
“Therefore, forgiveness is the necessary condition for finding the peace of God. More than this, given forgiveness there must be peace. For what except attack will lead to war?” (M.20.3:6-8)
What he seems to say to me is that, if not peace, then war. Attack is war. Anger attacks, and so again, we are on the wrong path. This reasoning should lead us clearly to be aware of our feelings:
If it is anger, attack or not forgiving, we have to look again. No one can fail to find peace who seeks it under the right conditions. I want to let my feelings tell me what I am choosing at the moment, for anger comes up sometimes unnoticed, almost habitual. I want to be aware of this habitual thinking and be vigilant for it. It will not take me to Peace. Again, habits help us in the world, but we are looking for ‘an entirely different thing’.
And lastly, Jesus asks:
“How is the Peace of God retained, once it is found?
Returning anger, in whatever form, will drop the heavy curtain once again, and the belief that peace cannot exist will certainly return. …Stop for a moment now and think of this: Is conflict what you want, or is God’s peace the better choice? Which give you more? A tranquil mind is not a little gift.” >(M.20.4:1,2,6-8)
So, what value is a quiet mind? At first, it allows us to focus on the present. What am I thinking or feeling right now? When we can become aware, we have choices. What do I truly want? When I am not peaceful but angry or upset or worried, I cannot hear Guidance, and I do want to be guided. My little mind cannot make the right choice because I’m guided by the past and would most likely choose wrongly.
My quiet mind may not stay with me throughout the day, but I can continue to ask and listen within to be aware and keep choosing what I perceive from Guidance to be the next loving thing to do. I want to continually be focused on a peaceful state of mind which brings me everything I want. And I want to remember that the Peace of God is an entirely new thing. It brings with it no past associations. That sounds very exciting to me.
To summarize:
How is the Peace of God recognized?
It is in every way totally unlike all previous experiences.
It is not like anything in the past but is an everlasting quiet.
How is this quiet found?
You find peace when you let go of anger and forgive.
How is the Peace of God retained, once it is found?
Returning to anger, even in small amounts, brings back the belief that peace cannot exist. Stop for a moment now, and think of this:
What do I really want? Is God’s peace the choice I want? Do I want a peaceful mind or do I want anger, attack or war as my guide?
A tranquil mind is not a little gift.
Jesus tells us:
“Forgive the world, and you will understand that everything that God created cannot have an end, and nothing He did not create is real. In this one sentence is our course explained. In this one sentence is our practicing given its one direction. And in this one sentence is the Holy Spirit’s whole curriculum specified exactly as it is.” (M.20.5:7-10)
This section of the Manual for Teachers is worth reading again and again if we want the Peace of God, truly. Even when I don’t get to the absolute eternal quiet, we must start somewhere. I’ll start my journey where I am but never stop looking for Peace.
“…[God’s] Will is wholly without opposite. There is no thought that contradicts His Will, yet can be true. The contrast between His Will and yours but seemed to be reality. In truth there was no conflict, for His Will is yours. …God’s peace is the condition for His Will. Attain His peace, and you remember Him.” (M-20.6:2-5,12-13)

I’ve always been enamored with travel. Jetting off to exotic, beautiful destinations, exploring a new landscape, discovering exciting things that reaffirm my belief in the goodness of humanity and the wonder that is life. For as long as I can remember I have held images in my mind of far away lands, where all is “perfect,” all is well, all is in order. There is no worry or lack. Just happiness, ease, calm. There’s only space for the good stuff. These far away lands know nothing of my troubles.
Fast forward to the present. As a flight attendant, I regularly see hundreds of people a day, many holding that same sentiment that the younger me did. And in fact, it can be even more layered. They can’t wait to get away, to escape — to change their surroundings. Because then, surely they will find the peace they’ve been seeking. The happiness will arrive with them at their destination, as if it was just another passenger who paid their fare and is cashing in on a promise. A promise that the happiness which seemed so elusive in their everyday life will be waiting for them upon arrival, like luggage at baggage claim.
Although the “here” might look different due to a change in scenery, the “here” has not really been escaped, because it’s coming from the mind. That satisfaction being sought still seems not quite fulfilled. A little piece of the pie still seems to be missing. A nagging feeling that their sense of ‘completion’ has still been evaded.
What is really missing is the realization that the missing piece is the change in consciousness that did not occur. The change from within that was the necessary piece to bring about the shift being searched for, didn’t happen.
It’s only recently that I’ve seen this ego trick, working its mighty magic in an industry and a pastime and a life that I adore so much. But I take comfort in the fact that noticing it must mean I’ve exposed it. It can’t play its trick on me any longer. I can now see it for what it is — a false belief that’s hiding the truth. The truth is that real happiness lies within.
Coming to this realization hasn’t made me sad or disappointed or love travel any less. In fact, it’s been freeing. I can still be in love with travel, but now with no expectations. And isn’t that the most freeing and beautiful kind of love? The only kind of love? I can enjoy it for what it is — a beautiful journey that still will take me to those far off lands, to see amazing sights and marvel at God’s creations up close and in the flesh. But with an understanding that any “escape” it provides will only be temporary because as they say, “wherever you go, there you are.”
Travel can be a spark for change. But it can also be a decoy… leading us to forget the truth. That everything we’ve ever wanted is between our own two ears… in our minds. There is the key to change. The key to unlock all doors, transform all circumstances and bring about all the growth and expansion we’re looking for.
A change in scenery can be thrilling, can be needed, but as with many things in life, it’s only transitory. It’s not the silver bullet. It can’t stand alone, on its own. It must be accompanied by the right mind, the inner change. The silver bullet is merely just a false idea, created by the ego to keep us hanging on, to keep us searching, for what does not exist, “out there.”
This lesson that God illustrated for me, through a very practical and real scenario that is near and dear to my heart and an integral part of the fabric of who I am, has been a revelation and a gift. He has shown me once again, through another poignant example that what matters most is within. What matters most is my relationship to Him, who is my Source. And that no amount of travel or “escaping” can replace the peace that comes from the sacred bond of being one with Him. “Be still an instant and go home with Him and be at peace a while.” (W-pI.182.12:9)
He is always with me, no matter my physical location because He resides in my mind. “God goes with me wherever I go.” (W-pI.41) I will always love travel. In fact, I love it even more now, knowing I can let it off the hook. Taking the responsibility for my happiness is off of its plate, I can simply enjoy it — the sights, the sounds, the stunning and majestic views and landscapes.
I know that God goes with me wherever I go and I’d never want to escape Him. He is my most steadfast and devout travel companion, leading me to every good thing. Every vista, every sunset, every new horizon that I see with His eyes sparkles and shines like no other filter imaginable. It’s filled with a richer meaning and a deeper sense of wonder that could ever be conveyed in words. God speaks to me through my travels, through the most extraordinary experiences and even in those that seem mundane. Having His spirit, His peace within me is worth more than the price of any ticket. I now know that I can find it anytime. Right now. No travel or getaway required.
“I am content to be wherever He wishes, knowing He goes there with me.” (T-2.V-A.18:5) The “here” is the “where” I need to be, offering all that I need in the present moment. The change I seek is within me. My Home is within me. My adventure is within me. Because that’s where God is. Let me remember, I am one with Him.
