I have recently completed my work on my website: larryglenz.com. I felt guided to do this, but it has been difficult for me to tell people that it even exists.
Although I enjoy being an Ordained Ministerial Counselor (O.M.C.) for Pathways of Light over the past 11 years, I have remained “in the closet” about my ministry to much of my family and friends with whom I have had the longest relationships. We just don’t talk about it.
My past identity for most people has been as a history teacher, athletic coach, and part-time bartender. Although I remain a volunteer assistant coach, my pursuits in life have greatly changed since my retirement 11 years ago.
My website is about my ministry of which I feel passionate. I love to think of myself as one of God’s teachers. A Course in Miracles encourages me to do that. But to those people who have known me the longest, I speak of it rarely or not at all.
Yet I most certainly have gone public. I have written a book, many articles, officiated weddings, spoken publicly as a reverend for Pathways and made videos explaining my passion for being a minister of God.
But I never speak of this with my only brother, Mike. My closet friends either don’t know or understand very little about this important aspect of my life.
But now I have a website. It’s all out there. I recently felt encouraged by Spirit to tell my son, Matt. He checked it out and noted with a smile that my life has certainly changed over the past decade.
I said to him, “Don’t tell Mom,” (my ex-wife). He just laughed. Neither of us could imagine her actually thinking of me as a minister of God. Fair enough. These people think of me in a different way, perhaps, and are comfortable with their perception.
As a motivational speaker to young people about the heroin epidemic, I do not mention that I am a reverend. I do, however, speak of the importance of love, forgiveness, and the strength of connecting to one’s Higher Power. I have been guided to do that.
I feel like the establishment of my website is like me taking another step out of the closet. My deepest thoughts about being a teacher of God are out there for everyone to see. Holy Spirit guided me.
I am grateful I was given two Pathways ministers, Rev. Michelle Rado and Rev. Deb Fee, to build the website. At this point I am not sure how it is meant to help others.
But I can leave that up to Holy Spirit. And I feel strong as I step out of the closet while holding His hand.

There are two sentences in the Text, Section III, paragraph 16 that feel really meaningful to me this morning. One is that “freedom from illusions lies only in not believing them.” I love this for its simplicity. Yes, it can feel difficult not to believe in what seems so real, but then that is the purpose of the illusion, to feel real. So, when I experience the effects of believing in the illusion, I ask the Holy Spirit to remove those thoughts from my mind, the thoughts I believe that could not be real.
I felt harassed yesterday. There seemed to be too much work for one day and I felt overwhelmed. I noticed that I was projecting, placing blame on people and situations. These are illusions. They affected me because I believed them. I could easily have questioned them, but I didn’t. Normally, when I feel like I have too much to do, I ask that Holy Spirit decide for me what to do and what to let go. I remind myself that it is just a thought in my mind that I have more to do than I can do. For some reason, yesterday I didn’t question my thoughts and so I suffered until I changed my mind about that.
The second sentence that stands out to me says, “Do not arrest your thought in this world, and you will open your mind to creation in God.” When I accepted the idea that I was harassed and overwhelmed and did not question that thought, I had arrested my thought in this world. When I finally realized what I was doing and I asked for correction, the barriers that seemed to hold me hostage to my suffering fell away. I was in immediate peace and I was given ideas that corrected some of the errors I made while confused.
What I have discovered is that I can always choose to not believe the illusion. Sometimes it feels hard and I have to talk myself into letting go. Sometimes I have to ask for help over and over, not because I have to talk the Holy Spirit into helping me, but because I have to talk myself into accepting the help. But this is something that I can do.
I can, with the help of the Holy Spirit, free my mind from the belief in illusions and the process is very simple. I notice I am not happy and I ask that my mind be healed, then I allow the aberrant thought to be removed from my mind. I sit for a while as my mind is healed and I am in awe of the process that is occurring. I am deeply grateful for what is being done on my behalf. I remind myself that I am not this body or this story. I am spirit. I am the Thought of God, created by Him, like Him. This silly moment cannot be reality. Then I allow my mind to fly free of this world.

Be careful what you tell yourself and also what you believe about yourself. The ego likes to make you believe you are not worth anything. The ego wants you to loathe yourself and feel worthless. In Dr. Wayne Dyer’s book, Your Sacred Self, he describes “Some Typical Peace Avoidance Behaviors.” He says that, “When you have an absence of peace at any time in your life, know that your ego, the false idea of yourself, is responsible.”
Here are some peace avoiding behaviors:
1. Confronting and arguing — When you choose this option you are pushing your higher self into the background.
2. Competing and comparing — When you compare yourself to others, you have bought into the idea that God plays favorites, and you have to go out and prove that you are better than anyone else.
3. Chasing and striving — is part of that dance of proving that you are better than your brother. This is a sure way to guarantee chaos and pain.
4. Saying notice me — when you engage in these thoughts you will spend a lot of your life energy getting noticed, you will lie, cheat and spend much time trying to get approval.
5. Giving yourself deadlines and pressure — this allows your ego to tyrannize your Higher Self, filling your thoughts with outside pressure to prove your worth.
6. Accumulating and acquiring — The more you have the more special you are. Storing many things may make you feel a sense of pride and accomplishment.
7. Chattering to yourself — living in your thoughts makes you focus on the world around you and can rob you of peace. The ego loves for you to concentrate on the white noise of living in the world.
8. Rejoicing in the troubles of others — this is the ego hard at work proving you are separate from others.
9. Worrying — the ego loves for you to worry and feel discontent. It wants you to forget the God within and forget who you really are.
When we let the ego drive our narrative, we forget who we are to the degree that we live on the earth in a fear-based existence, with no purpose other than to chase ideas of superiority, comparing ourselves with others, and creating more pain for ourselves and others. When we see past the false lies of the ego, we see there is enough Love to go around. We don’t have to prove we are acceptable. There is no need to outshine anyone; Our only need is to support each other. And to help others see the truth of who they are as well as accepting our True Nature.
Healing our minds is another step in healing the entire Sonship. We can create heaven on earth through Love and compassion. We can see the beauty in ourselves through the beauty in our brothers. Watching others grow in patience, kindness and truth is rewarding in that we are all One and as each of us awakens we see how expansive and Lovely we all are. We give thanks to our Creator and feel perfect peace in His Love. We all get to know our eternal selves and realize there is nothing to fear, ever.
We will all be together for all eternity. The mistakes that we make while we are here have already been forgiven. God Loves everyone of his Creations.
God gives us a way to find peace while we are here on the earth. We can go within and meditate and pray. Stop letting the ego run away with our thoughts. Make a point of praying and meditating every day. Seek peace in everyday moments like noticing the beauty of the earth around you. Everything and everyone is imbued with Gods Love and Light. We only need to search for it. Look for it even where you think it doesn’t exist, because it exists everywhere. If it seems hidden, it is only waiting to be found.
It isn’t easy, no doubt. That is why we have the Holy Spirit to help us along the way. We can always ask for assistance. I can tell you there are days when I feel totally abandoned, and then I remember the story of “Footprints in the Sand.” And I remember it is I who turned away from Him. And I also remember that He is always welcoming us back to the remembrance of Eternity and who we all are.
I am in such gratitude for His Love and guidance. So today I am grateful for His forgiveness and I am also grateful for the words in this book, written by Dr. Dyer. This is God expressing through a man who loves his Father and all of his fellow souls. This is how God shows himself to us, through the expressions of others. That is a perfect example of how we can help heal each other. I so needed these words from Dr. Dyer today, I needed to remember that I am no more and no less than anyone else. We are all expressions of God’s Love.

I started hosting a Weekly Podcast in December 2018. The title is “Understanding the Language of A Course in Miracles.”
As the title suggests, the purpose of this Podcast is to help fellow Course students to better understand what the Course is really saying so they can more effectively apply the Teachings to their specific circumstances and situations.
I have been A Course in Miracles Student, Teacher, POL Counselor and Course Workshop Facilitator for close to 20 years, and I remember how much I struggled in my early years as a Course student, trying to figure out what the Course was really saying.
I used to be at a loss as I would often find myself reading a line from the Course over and over again, saying to myself, “I know what it says, but what does it mean?” During those times I used to think that either A Course in Miracles was not for me, or I was a remedial spiritual student.
What I later came to understand was that the Course speaks from a metaphorical perspective and therefore the words, themes and ideas are to be looked at within a metaphorical context and not taken literally. Reading the Course literally is what was making it difficult for me to understand what the words in the Course really meant, because it literally limited my perspective and as a result, my understanding of what it was saying.
My new understanding ended my struggles because I gained a new way of looking at what the Course was saying and how it related on a practical level. I began sharing this new understanding with other Course students through Study Groups; then through classes and workshops on specific topics such as “Forgiveness.” I also shared it in seminars, conferences during my 13-year tenure on the Faculty of a local Spiritual College.
Two years ago, 2017, I wrote and published a book titled “True Forgiveness” based on having used Forgiveness in my coaching and counseling practice, and inspired by the deep healing I experienced in my own life as a result of practicing True Forgiveness. I felt led to write this book to serve as a platform for reaching and helping others who want to heal and transform personally, their relationships and their lives by becoming aware of and understanding the teachings of A Course in Miracles.
Hence, my Weekly Podcast. It provides a speaking venue where each week I select a central idea, theme, teaching or lesson from the Course and share, giving an overview of how to take it from the metaphorical, often abstract concept to a more concrete or practical perspective. The Podcast Episodes are published every Wednesday. The recording is usually completed by late afternoon on Tuesday and is posted sometime between midnight and 2:00 AM Wednesday morning.
On Wednesday afternoons I usually begin drafting the outline for my next Episode.
On Wednesday May 1st, I sat down to draft the outline for Episode #21. I had decided to talk about the Course’s central Teaching “Projection makes Perception,” for that week. I put my phone on “vibrate” and placed it on the table to the right of me where I usually ignore the notification buzzes, until I’m done with that writing period. On this Wednesday however, something about this particular “buzz” led me to check the notification and the subject line got my attention:
“About Robert Stoelting”…
Now fully attentive to the notification, I thought… What about Robert Stoelting…?” and quickly opened the email. I read that Robert had been hospitalized with an intestinal obstruction, and we were being invited to take a moment to join in remembering the truth about Robert with the following words:
‘We extend Peace… Love… and Light to Robert…
We support him as we remember together that he is safe in God’s loving arms…
We pray that God’s Will be done… We remember together that we are all safe… we are innocent… we are loved… we are all Home…”
As I read on, we were further being invited to “join in loving support for Robert in a 10 to 15 minute prayer circle that was being led by Debra Bredican” that evening. As I read those words, I realized that this was the practice of “True Prayer,” the type of prayer I wanted to pray for Robert.
I was reminded that “True Prayer” is not about asking to change circumstances or conditions so we can get something we perceive to be lacking but rather, as it says in The Song of Prayer: “Asking…to receive what’s already given; to accept what is already there.” (S.1.I.1:7)
I was not going to be able to join the prayer circle that evening, so I decided to take 15 minutes right then to join in “loving support” as we were asked, i.e. to pray for Robert. As I centered in prayer — acknowledging the truth about Robert and all of us, I felt a sense of deep peace… and while in that state of peace, thoughts of people sharing with me how they find it difficult to pray; or those who feel like their prayers go unanswered came into my awareness… I maintained my state of peace…
As I calmly returned to writing the draft of my podcast episode, a new topic came clearly into my mind. I felt led to put the topic “Projection makes Perception” on hold for that week and talk about “True Prayer” instead. So “True Prayer…Prayer That Is the Medium of Miracles” became the topic for Episode #21 of my weekly podcast to help those who might be struggling to practice “True Prayer,” and those who feel that their prayers go unanswered.
