ACIM Lesson 41 2025

My contemplation of Lesson 41
God goes with me wherever I go.

I love this lesson because it introduces awakening. We are literally attempting to awaken from the dream of separation as we do this lesson. He knows we may not, probably will not, be successful the first time we do this. However, we might. And eventually, we will be successful. That is why I love the lesson.

I also love it because it describes the effects of the belief in separation: the depression, loneliness, worry, and the suffering we experience believing we are separate from God. So many people feel a sense of abandonment and assume it has its origins in their story. Their father abandoned the family. Or their mother died at their birth. Maybe their partner left them for someone else.

But those are not the source of the feeling of being abandoned. They are the images that represent the separation from God, images that we project as our stories. They are our attempt to solve the problem without solving it at all. No matter how many images we project, the only problem we really have is that we think we separated ourselves from our Source. So the only solution is to accept that we have not done so. God still goes with us wherever we go.

⁴The idea for today has the power to end all this foolishness forever. ⁵And foolishness it is, despite the serious and tragic forms it may take.

The world is tragic even at its best. It is tragic because it seems to exist outside of God. Even if we have a wonderful life story, we are still deluded into believing we are not the Son of God. And the best life ever ends in death. So, today I will try again to move past the thoughts that make up the pretense of life and let my awareness rest on reality.

How do we solve the problem of the world? It seems impossible, especially now. There are so many problems and so much hate and fear. In spite of this, it is a simple solution, one we do not seriously consider. We do not question the reality of the problem. But today is the day in which we do so. We relax into silence and go within where the answer lies.

Deep within you is everything that is perfect, ready to radiate through you and out into the world. ²It will cure all sorrow and pain and fear and loss because it will heal the mind that thought these things were real, and suffered out of its allegiance to them.

Is this not worth five minutes of our time this morning? In the past, when I attempted this meditation, I did so with trepidation, afraid of failure and what that would mean about me. Now, though, I do it with joy, knowing that I will never fail completely and sooner or later, I will succeed.
