Remembering That Only Love’s Oneness Is Real

The problem of separation, which is really the only problem, has already been solved. ⁵Yet the solution is not recognized because the problem is not recognized.

Everyone in this world seems to have his own special problems. ²Yet they are all the same, and must be recognized as one if the one solution that solves them all is to be accepted.

The temptation to regard problems as many is the temptation to keep the problem of separation unsolved. ²The world seems to present you with a vast number of problems, each requiring a different answer.

All this complexity is but a desperate attempt not to recognize the problem, and therefore not to let it be resolved. ²If you could recognize that your only problem is separation, no matter what form it takes, you could accept the answer because you would see its relevance. ³Perceiving the underlying constancy in all the problems that seem to confront you, you would understand that you have the means to solve them all. ⁴And you would use the means, because you recognize the problem.

Be not deceived by the form of problems today. ²Whenever any difficulty seems to rise, tell yourself quickly:

³Let me recognize this problem so it can be solved.

⁴Then try to suspend all judgment about what the problem is. ⁵If possible, close your eyes for a moment and ask what it is. ⁶You will be heard and you will be answered. (A Course in Miracles, W-79.1:4–2:2;4:1-2;6;10. See also ACIM Lesson 79 Insights.)

While we believe our identity is defined by our body, we are believing that separation is real. This belief is the only problem that needs to be resolved. All the complexity we see in the world are just variations in form that hide the simplicity of God’s Love.

His Love is universally one and the same throughout. Being eternal, there is no time when His Love varies. It is given equally to all without limit. Love’s changelessness means its peace can never be disturbed.

Whenever anything disturbs our peace, it is time to remind ourselves that we are perceiving a problem that is not real. It is time to ask the Holy Spirit to help us heal our misperception. This willingness will open our mind to accept the real solution to our perceived problem. The Holy Spirit will show us that there are no differences and that only Love’s oneness is real.

Our Father’s Love Is with Us Forever

God’s Voice speaks to me all through the day.

It is quite possible to listen to God’s Voice all through the day without interrupting your regular activities in any way. ²The part of your mind in which truth abides is in constant communication with God, whether you are aware of it or not.

The part that is listening to the Voice for God is calm, always at rest and wholly certain. ²It is really the only part there is. ³The other part is a wild illusion, frantic and distraught, but without reality of any kind. ⁴Try today not to listen to it. ⁵Try to identify with the part of your mind where stillness and peace reign forever. ⁶Try to hear God’s Voice call to you lovingly, reminding you that your Creator has not forgotten His Son.

Listen in deep silence. ²Be very still and open your mind. ³Go past all the raucous shrieks and sick imaginings that cover your real thoughts and obscure your eternal link with God. ⁴Sink deep into the peace that waits for you beyond the frantic, riotous thoughts and sights and sounds of this insane world. ⁵You do not live here. ⁶We are trying to reach your real home. ⁷We are trying to reach the place where you are truly welcome. ⁸We are trying to reach God.

…be sure to sit quietly and repeat the idea for today whenever you can, closing your eyes on the world, and realizing that you are inviting God’s Voice to speak to you. (A Course in Miracles, W-49.1:1-2;2;4;5:3. See also ACIM Lesson 49 Insights.)

Part of our mind is in constant communication with God. It is participating in the constant extension of Love to all Love. This is our only function as God’s Creation.

But because of our wish to experience specialness, to be different and unique, we have invented an illusion of ourselves that dwells in a dream of conflict, isolation and loss. We have given this dream precedence in our mind, denying the oneness of the Love that is our true Identity.

This dream will fade into the nothingness from which it came when we prefer to identify with the part of our mind that remembers our unity with the Love of our Father. Today we practice pausing to let peace come to our troubled mind. In peace we will hear our Father’s Voice assure us that His Love remains with us, now and forever.

Strength Comes as We Trust God’s Voice

God is the strength in which I trust.

If you are trusting in your own strength, you have every reason to be apprehensive, anxious and fearful. ²What can you predict or control? ³What is there in you that can be counted on? ⁴What would give you the ability to be aware of all the facets of any problem, and to resolve them in such a way that only good can come of it? ⁵What is there in you that gives you the recognition of the right solution, and the guarantee that it will be accomplished?

Of yourself you can do none of these things.

God is your safety in every circumstance. ²His Voice speaks for Him in all situations and in every aspect of all situations, telling you exactly what to do to call upon His strength and His protection.

³It is not by trusting yourself that you will gain confidence. ⁴But the strength of God in you is successful in all things.

The ego has a high opinion of its abilities, and believes that God has abandoned His children. Our choice to align with the ego’s thought system of separation makes us fear God. This fear makes the strength He has given to all His Creation unavailable to us.  The ego believes that It is our only resource for solutions to our problems.

Our true Self has all the attributes of God — all His strength and Love. His knowledge is ours, but we are helpless to solve our perceived problems while we identify with the ego. Our mistaken beliefs have not changed the fact that the strength of God is in us, now and forever. As we accept God’s gifts, and listen to His Voice, we will share in His peace, joy and Love.

In Gratitude We Accept Our Father’s Love

I judge all things as I would have them be.

Judgment was made to be a weapon used against the truth. ²It separates what it is being used against, and sets it off as if it were a thing apart. ³And then it makes of it what you would have it be. ⁴It judges what it cannot understand, because it cannot see totality and therefore judges falsely. ⁵Let us not use it today, but make a gift of it to Him Who has a different use for it. ⁶He will relieve us of the agony of all the judgments we have made against ourselves, and re-establish peace of mind by giving us God’s Judgment of His Son.

Father, we wait with open mind today, to hear Your Judgment of the Son You love. ²We do not know him, and we cannot judge. ³And so we let Your Love decide what he whom You created as Your Son must be. (A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson , W-311 See also ACIM Lesson 311 Insights.))

The ego is a tyrannical judge. It uses judgment to protect its domain against intrusion of the truth that only the oneness of Love is real. It denies all appeals for Love by sending all who seek It to search for Love where it cannot be found — in meaningless forms that never satisfy. All the ego’s judgments are based on the false premise that separation is real.

Today we pause and wait with an open heart and mind to hear our Father’s single Judgment based on the only true premise that Love is all that is real. He sees us all as His one Son, forever one with Himself. His Final Judgment is that we remain eternally united with Him in His Love. And we are grateful that this is so.

Remembering Love Is Our True Identity

I will not fear to look within today.

Within me is eternal innocence, because it is God’s Will that it be there forever and forever. ²I, His Son, whose will is limitless as is His Own, can will no change in this. ³For to deny my Father’s Will is to deny my own. ⁴To look within is but to find my will as God created it, and as it is. ⁵I fear to look within because I think I made another will that is not true, and made it real. ⁶Yet it has no effects. ⁷Within me is the Holiness of God. ⁸Within me is the memory of Him.

The step I take today, my Father, is my sure release from idle dreams of sin. ²Your altar stands serene and undefiled. ³It is the holy altar to my Self, and there I find my true Identity. (A Course in Miracles, W-309. See also ACIM Lesson 309 Insights.)

This world is a game of make-believe. It has no effect whatsoever on our true Identity as an extension of God’s Love. We have become so enamored with the game of an outside world that we are afraid of the image we have made of our Father. We have projected on Him the characteristics of the frightening characters in our game. We believe He is judgmental and vindictive.

But if we are willing to pause the game and look within, we will find a Love that is all encompassing. It protects us from all effects of our imagined game. It holds us in perfect innocence, serene in our certainty that we remain Love as Love created us.

We Are Extensions of God’s Love

Grace is acceptance of the Love of God within a world of seeming hate and fear. ²By grace alone the hate and fear are gone, for grace presents a state so opposite to everything the world contains, that those whose minds are lighted by the gift of grace can not believe the world of fear is real.

Oneness is simply the idea God is. ²And in His Being, He encompasses all things. ³No mind holds anything but Him. ⁴We say “God is,” and then we cease to speak, for in that knowledge words are meaningless. ⁵There are no lips to speak them, and no part of mind sufficiently distinct to feel that it is now aware of something not itself. ⁶It has united with its Source. ⁷And like its Source Itself, it merely is.

³What is the face of Christ but his who went a moment into timelessness, and brought a clear reflection of the unity he felt an instant back to bless the world?

Be grateful to return, as you were glad to go an instant, and accept the gifts that grace provided you.

³By grace I live. ⁴By grace I am released.
⁵By grace I give. ⁶By grace I will release (A Course in Miracles, W-169.2;3;13:3;14:1;15:3-6. See also ACIM Lesson 169 Insights.)

The world we seem to live in appears very real. We seem to be surrounded by circumstances that justify fear and guilt. We believe we need to constantly focus on ways to protect ourselves.

But there is another way to look at the world. If we allow ourselves to step back a moment from the world we see with the body, and open our mind and heart to receive the Love of our Father, we can experience an instant of timelessness.

In that holy moment, we are certain of our safety and unity in the oneness of God’s Love. We can return to the world and see it through forgiving eyes. We know that nothing has ever changed our Identity as an extension of our Father’s Love.

Opening to Receive God’s Gift of Love

Yet the essential thing is learning that you do not know. ²Knowledge is power, and all power is of God. ³You who have tried to keep power for yourself have “lost” it. ⁴You still have the power, but you have interposed so much between it and your awareness of it that you cannot use it. ⁵Everything you have taught yourself has made your power more and more obscure to you. …⁹Yet all that stands between you and the power of God in you is but your learning of the false, and of your attempts to undo the true.

⁵Learn of His happiness, which is yours. ⁶But to accomplish this, all your dark lessons must be brought willingly to truth, and joyously laid down by hands open to receive, not closed to take. ⁷Every dark lesson that you bring to Him Who teaches light He will accept from you, because you do not want it. ⁸And He will gladly exchange each one for the bright lesson He has learned for you. ⁹Never believe that any lesson you have learned apart from Him means anything.

You have one test, as sure as God, by which to recognize if what you learned is true. ²If you are wholly free of fear of any kind, and if all those who meet or even think of you share in your perfect peace, then you can be sure that you have learned God’s lesson, and not your own. ³Unless all this is true, there are dark lessons in your mind that hurt and hinder you, and everyone around you. ⁴The absence of perfect peace means but one thing: You think you do not will for God’s Son what his Father wills for him. ⁵Every dark lesson teaches this, in one form or another. ⁶And each bright lesson with which the Holy Spirit will replace the dark ones you do not accept, teaches you that you will with the Father and His Son. While we believe we are a body with a separate identity, we are dreaming we are in a fearful world that denies the Reality of God’s limitless eternal Love. It is an attempt to keep power for ourselves alone. But to know our real power, we must accept God’s Will, which is to share all that He is with all. Only in accepting His Gift of all of Himself can we experience His perfect peace and happiness.

If we are not in perfect peace, it is a sure sign that we are rejecting our Father’s Gifts. We need to recognize that we believing in a false idea of our identity. It is time to offer that false idea to Him, and open our heart and mind to receive His gift of universal Love for all that is.
