Welcoming the Holy Instant

How long does it take to experience a holy instant? Only an instant! But as we are engaged in the dreaming of the world, it seems that it requires a lot of attention to “prepare” for the holy instant. This is only because of unwillingness to let go of our investment in the values of the world.

The holy instant is experienced when my mind is at peace. But believing the forms of the world have value brings conflict with it. The more value I give to form in the world, the less willing I am to recognize that no form has value. Yet I have Help available to me in my mind to help me look past the surface of the form to the real content, or the lack of it. If I am willing, the Holy Spirit will always show me the real value, the content, behind the form.

To receive this gift, I need to bring my mind to the center of peace within. I need to be willing to come with empty hands, without requirements that dictate how the answer should come to me. This is what forgiveness does. It removes my attachment to forms.

A Course in Miracles tells me that vigilance is required to remember peace. The payoff is that I open my mind and heart to the Source of real happiness. I open my mind to the true Answer that frees me from the bondage of valuing the valueless forms of the world.

So today is another day for me to practice giving my attention to peace and letting my mind be open to the Holy Spirit’s vision that shows me the real value beyond the forms of the world. This is how I open to the holy instant.

The holy instant is always there in my mind, waiting to be accepted. It is only when I take the time to open to the holy instant that I experience its blessings. This is my practice for today — to provide a clean and open space for the holy instant. In this clean and open space lies the answer to every perceived problem.

Choosing the Stairs to Heaven

This stood out to us as we read A Course in Miracles this morning:

How can you know whether you chose the stairs to Heaven or the way to hell? Quite easily. How do you feel? Is peace in your awareness? Are you certain which way you go? And are you sure the goal of Heaven can be reached? If not, you walk alone. Ask, then, your Friend to join with you and give you certainty of where you go. (T-23.II.22:6-13)

This is so practical and helpful in helping me on a moment-to-moment basis through the day. The practice of paying attention to what I am feeling and thinking in the now moment is so helpful. Am I am being guided right now by my inner Teacher? Or have I once again shifted to thinking as a separate individual?

This takes vigilance throughout the day and remembering I cannot do this on my own. The ego thought system will never bring me peace or happiness. I have been used to thinking I am a separate person and seem to revert to this when I am not paying attention. This shows me how important it is to be vigilant for the level of peace I am feeling. When I notice I am not peaceful, I can once again step back and open to the blessings of the thought reversal provided by my inner Teacher.

This world of separate bodies is not my home. I have tried to make it my home, but now I can choose otherwise. The truth is nothing has happened to change God’s one Son. We are all still Love as God created us. I am truly helpful when I allow myself to remember that only Love is real. As I remember this with Holy Spirit’s help, peace returns. Simple, uncomplicated Love returns. I remember I am blessed, as is every brother blessed along with me. Gratitude…

Today I will choose the stairs to Heaven by being mindful of my level of peace. And with that, I will practice taking every disturbance to the Holy Spirit in my mind to receive His gentle, loving correction that helps me see the truth of changeless Love beyond the images of separation. This is how I will remember that I remain in Heaven, where Love would have me be.

From Uncertainty to Certainty

Uncertainty is a game we play that keeps us preoccupied with planning for the future and to protect our fragile image of what we believe we are. Our self-image in the world is so fragile that the way someone looks at us can seem to damage that image. The body in which this self-image is rooted must be constantly cared for a protected. It seems to be capable of doing things for which we feel guilty. Occasionally the body seems to do things that make us happy, but this happiness never lasts.

This constant sense of uncertainty and fragility is the result of believing in an image that is not what we are. Because of our strong investment in this belief, we need help from outside this belief system to find our way out of the flimsy “paper bag” that seems to contain us. Of ourselves alone, we could not fight our way out of this paper bag. But with the help of the Holy Spirit, we can learn that there is no paper bag.

We remain as God created us. We remain Love, at one with the Source of Love, where we live and move and have our being. We move through the Love of Heaven by joining in Love’s eternal extension.

Today is another happy day of practice in letting the Holy Spirit be my interpreter in every moment. This is how I will learn that there is no limit on me, God’s extension of Love. There is no paper bag.

Today it is my opportunity to remember that differences do not matter. The only thing that does matter is my willingness to see past the illusion of differences to the one pure Light of Love That is really there. As I let my mind return to the truth of Love’s pure Oneness, I am healed. And as I allow my mind to be healed, I become an instrument of healing, because all minds are joined. In truth we are all the same Light. There is no distance between us. We are the same Light. There are no differences.

Receive Heaven’s Blessings

Go to the place in your mind where peace resides and receive Heaven’s blessings… Receive the gifts of your true Self… Rest in truth a while…

Here you will see that you have not left God and God has not left you… Here you are immersed in the peace and Love of your true eternal Spirit… Rest here a while…

Let what is truly important gently wash away all the false ideas you have clung to in the past… Give time to your inner Teacher to let your mind be healed.… This is your sacred time with God.

This inner sanctuary is always there waiting for your return. Go there often and rest a while from the turmoil of the world of separation. You deserve to know the truth about yourself. You deserve to remember the truth about every brother. Give yourself this gift today. Let what is truly important in eternity rise to the surface of your mind and rest a while in peace.

Keep your attention on the center of peace within you today… Let all your doing be centered in this peace…

When you stand in peace, you are receptive to the inspiration that uses every circumstance as an opportunity to extend Love. As you stand in peace, you bless the world and bless yourself. Nothing in the world is worthy of judgment. Everything in the world is worthy of seeing in the Light of Love… Let the Light of Love guide all your doing today.

Forgiveness Offers Everything I Want

I was created, along with everyone, as Love’s extension. In the dream of separation, Love is reflected as forgiveness. As God’s representative (extension), my purpose in the world must be to forgive it, to let it go. That is my only purpose.

If I think I have any other purpose, it is because I am denying God’s Will for me. This means I am denying God’s gifts of perfect happiness, peace and eternal Love. I am no longer willing to maintain dreams of separation and specialness at the cost of true happiness. This means I must accept my true purpose. I must be willing to let go of all the images of the world that I have been carrying with me. I must be willing to be shown that nothing in the world offers me anything I really want. As I am willing to accept Holy Spirit’s true perception, I free myself from the bondage of the ego belief in separation and return to the freedom of extending Love without limit.

Today my practice is to hold my mind open to Holy Spirit’s vision, which will show me the innocence and love beyond every form I seem to perceive. With this practice, my journey will lead me to perfect happiness.

Forgiveness offers everything I want. Forgiveness means letting go the barriers I have placed before the awareness of Love’s Presence. Forgiveness means letting go of trying to replace God with a separate identity. Forgiveness means letting go of illusions. Letting go of illusions offers me everything I want.

The way I do this is to practice the early lessons in the Workbook of A Course in Miracles like, “My meaningless thoughts are showing me a meaningless world,” and “God did not create a meaningless world.” As I am willing to see the image-making for what it is (which is trying to replace God), I more easily let go of my attachment to them. I more easily let the veil of separation be lifted by Holy Spirit so I can be re-minded of the oneness of God’s Will.

Today is a day of stepping back and letting my inner Teacher show me the truth of Love’s Oneness behind every illusion of separation. Today is a day of forgiving all I thought I knew. Forgiveness offers everything I want.

Let the Veil Be Lifted

Today I have the opportunity to practice letting the veil be lifted. The veil of separation blinds me to the truth of everyone’s eternal oneness in God. In truth no one has left God or has become different from his Creator. No one has succeeded in being separate and alone. No one has succeeded in making his little separate kingdom real.

The veil is lifted as I allow the Holy Spirit to transform these thoughts of separation. My willingness to forgive or let go of these false ideas is what is needed today. At my invitation the Light that always resides in my mind gladly lifts the veil and brings false perception to the truth. I was merely mistaken in thinking these images were true. I welcome Holy Spirit’s correction today, and remember again that I do not know what anything means on my own.

Today’s purpose is to let the veil be lifted by the Holy Spirit. Here I am shown that nothing has happened to change God’s one Son. The Light of God is still there to be seen and loved. Innocence and oneness is all I want to see, and I receive as I have asked. As I forgive, every pain and every apprehension disappears. This is my practice for today.

I cannot lift the veil of separation on my own. The belief that I am an individual identity is the veil. My job is to recognize the veil I have made and offer it to the Holy Spirit in my mind. It is He Who will show me its nothingness. As I recognize its nothingness, I easily let the veil be lifted.

Whenever my peace is disturbed in any way, I am believing the veil has substance and has the power to keep me separate from my Source. This then becomes a signal for me to bring that sense of disturbance to the Holy Spirit and ask His help to see that it is truly nothing. It is not cause for fear or guilt because it is nothing.

When I am willing to receive Holy Spirit’s gentle correction, I will be taking another step toward freedom from the veil I made and acceptance of God’s strength and peace and Love. This is my focus for today.

Playing Follow the Leader—Holy Spirit

The lesson that is being reinforced for me everyday is that I am much better off when I step back and follow Holy Spirit’s lead. It seems obvious that this would be the case. Yet clearly I have a propensity to make up my own plans or at least think I know what should happen. It is thinking I know anything that sets me up for feelings of disappointment, frustration and impatience.

These feelings are a warning flag that I need to step back and return my mind to willingness to follow Holy Spirit’s lead. It is clearly to my advantage to follow One Who has total awareness of everything and its effects than it is to follow my limited perception that is carefully confined to show me only what fits with my beliefs. If I don’t want to perpetuate my limited beliefs and sense of isolation they bring, then I need to follow a leader Who does not believe in those limitations.

Today my practice is to step back in peace and follow Holy Spirit’s lead throughout the day.

God has given all of Himself to all of us. We all have been given all that is real. All the power and strength of God is equally shared with everyone. My opportunity today is to let this vision of the truth replace the false ideas I have joined with. The dream of separation is not true. Only Love’s Oneness is true. Allowing myself to remember the truth is my practice for today. This is what brings me happiness. This willingness released me from all pain and suffering. And I give thanks.
