Disaster Is Not Real and Reality Is Not Disaster

This year determine not to deny what has been given you by God. Awake and share it, for that is the only reason He has called to you. His Voice has spoken clearly, and yet you have so little faith in what you heard, because you have preferred to place still greater faith in the disaster you have made. Today, let us resolve together to accept the joyful tidings that disaster is not real and that reality is not disaster. Reality is safe and sure, and wholly kind to everyone and everything. There is no greater love than to accept this and be glad. For love asks only that you be happy, and will give you everything that makes for happiness. (A Course in Miracles T-16.II.8:2-8)

Putting faith in the belief in separation from God is the same as putting faith in stories of loss, disaster and death. We know now that we can choose once again, following Holy Spirit’s lead. As we are willing to let go of our faith in disaster, the Holy Spirit teaches us that we are not a body, we are eternal Spirit. And we have been given all of Heaven. We remain one with God.

Our practice for today is to accept what has been given us by God. God has given all of Heaven to everyone, including us. Our joy returns as we accept the truth of Love’s gift to all today. This is how we remember that disaster is not real and reality is not disaster.

Accepting God’s Plan

You may wonder how you can be at peace when, while you are in time, there is so much that must be done before the way to peace is open. Perhaps this seems impossible to you. But ask yourself if it is possible that God would have a plan for your salvation that does not work. Once you accept His plan as the one function that you would fulfill, there will be nothing else the Holy Spirit will not arrange for you without your effort. He will go before you making straight your path, and leaving in your way no stones to trip on, and no obstacles to bar your way. Nothing you need will be denied you. Not one seeming difficulty but will melt away before you reach it. You need take thought for nothing, careless of everything except the only purpose that you would fulfill. As that was given you, so will its fulfillment be. God’s guarantee will hold against all obstacles, for it rests on certainty and not contingency. It rests on you. And what can be more certain than a Son of God? (A Course in Miracles T-20.IV.8)

Today our practice is to step back and accept Holy Spirit’s thoughts regarding everyone. The Holy Spirit sees the Christ in every brother. It is this we choose to see with Him today. This is our function.

You Remain at Home in Love

There is a quietness in you that is eternal and cannot be disturbed. It matters not what appears to be happening in the world. This place of eternal quiet is always available to you. It is What you are.

When the activities of the world seem to demand your attention, rest your mind in the quietness within. In this quietness, you see the Light beyond the distracting images and you remember that you remain at Home in Love.

Let this be a day to practice giving your attention to the peace within and let it help you see the truth in everything around you. This is how you forgive the world of all you thought it was.

Heaven Is Found Within

God has not many Sons, but only One. Who can have more, and who be given less?… For more than Heaven can you never have. If Heaven is within, why would you seek for idols that would make of Heaven less, to give you more than God bestowed upon your brother and on you, as one with Him? God gave you all there is. And to be sure you could not lose it, did He also give the same to every living thing as well. And thus is every living thing a part of you, as of Himself. (A Course in Miracles T-29.VIII.9:1-2,5-9)

The world of separation was made to replace God’s oneness. As we learn to go within to find the truth instead of seeking outside ourselves, we find God’s peace. The Holy Spirit is always there in our minds waiting to bring us the awareness that we have never left Heaven.

Today our practice is to go within to find God’s peace and joy, instead of looking outside ourselves for happiness. The truth is that Heaven can only be found within, being What we are and What everyone is. With Holy Spirit’s help we learn to see past the clouds of illusions to the Light that is really there. Heaven is found within.

Whose Plan Is It?

When we think we have a plan, it’s time to be hyper vigilant to keep our minds open to Holy Spirit’s inspiration. Holy Spirit’s plan will always lead us toward what we really want — the Love and peace of God. Plans we make on our own (with the ego as our advisor) will always exclude God because the ego is the denial of God.

The Course is teaching us to recognize that the appealing forms of the world do not offer what we really want. We really want to return to our real Home, the Heaven of God’s Love. The way to get there is to follow Holy Spirit’s plan, not our own. This is our practice for today.

We Place Our Trust in God’s Plan Today

We place our trust in God’s plan, not our own. God’s plan brings only happiness. Today we would practice stepping back to receive God’s gifts of peace and quietness. Within God’s peace lies the remembering that we have received all that God is — He has given us all of Himself. We are all united in God’s Love. There is nothing to fear because nothing has happened to change God’s one Son. We place our trust in God’s plan today and let our minds be healed by His Love.

Awaken from Specialness

The special ones are all asleep, surrounded by a world of loveliness they do not see. Freedom and peace and joy stand there, beside the bier on which they sleep, and call them to come forth and waken from their dream of death. Yet they hear nothing. They are lost in dreams of specialness. They hate the call that would awaken them, and they curse God because He did not make their dream reality. Curse God and die, but not by Him Who made not death; but only in the dream. Open your eyes a little; see the savior God gave to you that you might look on him, and give him back his birthright. It is yours. (A Course in Miracles T-24.III.7)

Our true function is to awaken from the dream of specialness. We awaken as we follow Holy Spirit’s lead to see past specialness to the one, united Love that is always there. Today is dedicated to let the Holy Spirit fill our minds with the Light of true perception. This is what we want above all else. We watch our thoughts. And when thoughts of specialness show up, we hand these thoughts to the Holy Spirit for a thought reversal.

We want the freedom and peace and joy that surround us all. We want to awaken from the dream of death. We want above all else to be truly helpful to the Holy Spirit’s plan of awakening. Today is dedicated to allowing the Holy Spirit to lead the way to awaken from the dream of specialness.
