The Gifts Forgiveness Offers

Open your eyes today and look upon a happy world of safety and of peace. Forgiveness is the means by which it comes to take the place of hell. In quietness it rises up to greet your open eyes, and fill your heart with deep tranquility as ancient truths, forever newly born, arise in your awareness. What you will remember then can never be described. Yet your forgiveness offers it to you. (A Course in Miracles, W-pI.122.8)

Our true Self is eternally happy and in deep peace, knowing It is invulnerable and perfectly safe. To experience this for ourselves we need to let go of the false image we have taught ourselves to believe is what we are. Forgiveness is the way we let go of this false image.

Having bought into the belief system that made the false image, we need help from outside this belief system to let it go. That Help is ever present, ready to help us forgive when we are willing to accept it. When we insist on being the interpreter of what appears in our world, we block the awareness of our true Self. The practice of setting aside our interpretation and opening our minds willingly to the Holy Spirit’s interpretation frees us from the bondage of our limited belief system.

Today is another opportunity to give ourselves the gift of practicing turning over all our interpretations to the Holy Spirit with willingness to receive His interpretation in their place. This is how we receive the gifts forgiveness offers.

Receiving Love’s Blessing

Today we dedicate to letting Love guide all our doing. Love is always truly helpful. It always guides us to do what is helpful for all our brothers, for all the world. By choosing to let Love be our Guide in all our doing, we are absolved of guilt. What is done with Love is always harmless, for it recognizes our oneness with all that Is. What is one cannot harm Itself.

With this dedication, we receive the blessing of learning that Love is What we are. Today we would receive Love’s blessing.

Remembering Who We Are

I am in the likeness of my Creator. I cannot suffer, I cannot experience loss and I cannot die. I am not a body. I would recognize my reality today. I will worship no idols, nor raise my own self-concept to replace my Self. I am in the likeness of my Creator. Love created me like itself.

Love holds no grievances. Grievances are completely alien to love. Grievances attack love and keep its light obscure. If I hold grievances I am attacking love, and therefore attacking my Self. My Self thus becomes alien to me. I am determined not to attack my Self today, so that I can remember Who I am. (A Course in Miracles, W-pI.84.1:2-7,3:1-6)

I let Love fill my heart and mind today. If grievances come up, I hand them to Love. I let the Light of Love shine away the shadows of grievances. Letting Love lead the way is my highest priority. This is all I want. This is all I need. And I am grateful that Love is all that is real.

Accepting Our Real Life in God

Each time I am able to take a long-standing resentment to the Holy Spirit and receive His gift of vision that shows me it had no cause, I move another step closer to full awareness of my Life of Love. Forgiveness gives me the gift of Life. By God’s grace, all the illusions I have made cannot change the reality that my Life is Love and nothing else. Forgiveness is the means by which I accept His grace. In every moment I have the opportunity to let go of the past and be free to live my real Life.

Holy Spirit, I give my mind to you today to guide and protect with the power of your Love. I ask your help to recognize my mistaken ideas that interfere with my awareness of true Life. Separation and individuality are not Life. But I have thought they were. I need your help, Holy Spirit, to recognize the illusions I have made for what they are. I am willing to be taught. I am willing to let illusions go and receive the gift of Life, long since given and mine now. Thank you Holy Spirit for your comfort, your strength and your sure direction.

You Are Being Carried

No needs will long be left unmet if you leave them all to Him Whose function is to meet them. That is His function, and not yours. …What you give through Him is for the whole Sonship, not for part of it. Leave Him His function, for He will fulfill it if you but ask Him to enter your relationships, and bless them for you. (A Course in Miracles, T-16.I.7:4-5,8-9)

Our greatest need is to return to the awareness that we are the Love of God that we have denied is ours. As we open to the help of the Holy Spirit, the Love that we have denied returns to us and extends through us. As we continue to receive the Love and extend the Love of our true Nature, we see that our needs are met. We are comforted and we bring comfort to others.

As we are able to surrender or hand over our false ideas of separation, the Light of peace and joy and Love fills our hearts and minds… As we join with the Mind of the Holy Spirit, we see that we are being carried — we see with the vision of the Holy Spirit. We see the Spirit of Holiness in everyone.

Rise Above to See the Love

As we open our minds to receive the Truth, we are brought to the awareness of Love’s presence… We are brought to the awareness of the truth of Love’s oneness behind the illusions of separation… We are brought to the awareness that nothing can really happen to change the eternal Presence of Love… In reality we are safe… All is well… We all are still as God created us, despite the illusions we have made up.

As we let our minds be brought to the Truth, we are filled with a sense of safety and of peace… We are filled with a sense of the innate happiness that resides within us all… Our true Self comes to the surface of our minds and we are able to feel the inherent Love, peace and joy that is eternally…

Today we allow time to open to the Truth… We let ourselves be carried above the concepts of the world of separation… We are brought to the awareness of Love’s eternal Presence… We let happiness fill our hearts and minds… We are filled with a sense of our true purpose… We would join with the truth today. And we are filled with gratitude for our eternal reality in Love.

Receiving the Help That Is Given Us

We are eternally immersed in God’s peace and joy. If we are not supremely happy, we must be following the ego’s advice which will always direct us to seek and not find the happiness we really want. The best the ego can offer is empty substitutes that may give the appearance of happiness but that have no substance and will not last.

If we are not having a happy day, we can safely conclude that there must be a better way. To see that better way, we start by acknowledging to ourselves that what we are experiencing is not what we want. We must be seeking in the wrong direction.

When we ask for help with this increased willingness, we are open to receive the Help that is given us. It is easier to step aside from insistence on our idea of what will make us happy because it is clear that it has not worked. Now we can receive Holy Spirit’s vision that will show us how to accept God’s gift of perfect happiness. Now we are willing to accept God’s World of Love in place of the ego’s world of fear.

Today we practice being open to this change in perception.
