How to Have a Love-Filled Day

Today I will judge nothing that occurs.

I will be honest with myself today. ²I will not think that I already know what must remain beyond my present grasp. ³I will not think I understand the whole from bits of my perception, which are all that I can see. ⁴Today I recognize that this is so. ⁵And so I am relieved of judgments that I cannot make. ⁶Thus do I free myself and what I look upon, to be in peace as God created us.

Father, today I leave creation free to be itself. ²I honor all its parts, in which I am included. ³We are one because each part contains Your memory, and truth must shine in all of us as one. (W-243)

The ego is arrogant. It assigns its meaning to everything it looks upon, with no regard for the truth. This practice is essential to maintain perceptions that supersede reality. This is how the ego maintains control.

We do not have to pay attention to the ego’s machinations. Today we practice stepping back from our snap judgments by reminding ourselves that we do not know what anything means. With an open mind, we ask the Holy Spirit to help us see the world as He sees it. As we accept His help, we will have a peaceful, joyous and Love-filled day.

Safety Comes with Knowing Our True Identity

There is nothing to fear.

The idea for today simply states a fact. ²It is not a fact to those who believe in illusions, but illusions are not facts. ³In truth there is nothing to fear.

…whenever possible …close your eyes and repeat the idea slowly to yourself several times. ⁵It is particularly important that you use the idea immediately, should anything disturb your peace of mind.

The presence of fear is a sure sign that you are trusting in your own strength. ²The awareness that there is nothing to fear shows that somewhere in your mind, though not necessarily in a place you recognize as yet, you have remembered God, and let His strength take the place of your weakness. ³The instant you are willing to do this there is indeed nothing to fear. The presence of fear indicates that we believe we are alone, separate and vulnerable to outside forces. This fear could only occur because we have identified with the ego thought system of separation. But separation is only a fantasy that could never be real.

Our true Self is untouched by fantasies of separation. It remains at home in the Love of God, indivisible, and forever united with our Father. Nothing real exists outside of His Love, where we live in perfect safety. When we remind ourselves that there is nothing to fear, we are opening our mind to accept our Identity as God’s one Son.

Finding Sanctuary in God’s Love

I love You, Father, and I love Your Son.

My gratitude permits my love to be accepted without fear. ²And thus am I restored to my reality at last. ³All that intruded on my holy sight forgiveness takes away. ⁴And I draw near the end of senseless journeys, mad careers and artificial values. ⁵I accept instead what God establishes as mine, sure that in that alone I will be saved; sure that I go through fear to meet my Love.

Father, I come to You today, because I would not follow any way but Yours. ²You are beside me. ³Certain is Your way. ⁴And I am grateful for Your holy gifts of certain sanctuary, and escape from everything that would obscure my love for God my Father and His holy Son. Fear is a sure sign that we have judged against our Identity as Love. We have accepted differences and conflict as our reality in place of Love’s oneness in which there can be no differences. In Love peace is a steady state because conflict does not exist.

We are grateful that our Father has kept a safe place for us, and He has given us a Guide to lead us out of fear to His Sanctuary of peace. With our judgments forgiven, we remember our Love for our Father and His holy Son, leaving no one out. We rest in gratitude for God’s Gifts.

Remembering the Love We Are

⁵Listen, and see if you remember an ancient song you knew so long ago and held more dear than any melody you taught yourself to cherish since.

Beyond the body, beyond the sun and stars, past everything you see and yet somehow familiar, is an arc of golden light that stretches as you look into a great and shining circle. …⁵Within it everything is joined in perfect continuity. ⁶Nor is it possible to imagine that anything could be outside, for there is nowhere that this light is not.

This is the vision of the Son of God, whom you know well. ²Here is the sight of him who knows his Father. ³Here is the memory of what you are; a part of this, with all of it within, and joined to all as surely as all is joined in you. ⁴Accept the vision that can show you this, and not the body. ⁵You know the ancient song, and know it well. ⁶Nothing will ever be as dear to you as is this ancient hymn of love the Son of God sings to his Father still. There is a vision within us all that shows us the Light of Love which unites us with each other and our Creator. It shows us all that is real. This cannot be seen with the body’s eyes, for the body is not real.

We need to forgive our mistaken identification with the ego, embodied in an image of a body. As we set judgment aside, our mind returns to peace. From this peaceful state of mind, the vision of our true Self sees the Love that unites us all with our Father, leaving no one outside of His Love. In oneness we sing a song of Love that embraces All That is.

Remembering Our Present Home in Love

All fear is past and only love is here.

All fear is past, because its source is gone, and all its thoughts gone with it. ²Love remains the only present state, whose Source is here forever and forever. ³Can the world seem bright and clear and safe and welcoming, with all my past mistakes oppressing it, and showing me distorted forms of fear? ⁴Yet in the present love is obvious, and its effects apparent. ⁵All the world shines in reflection of its holy light, and I perceive a world forgiven at last.

Father, let not Your holy world escape my sight today. ²Nor let my ears be deaf to all the hymns of gratitude the world is singing underneath the sounds of fear. ³There is a real world which the present holds safe from all past mistakes. ⁴And I would see only this world before my eyes today. The idea of time is the ego’s ultimate defense against the healing that would free God’s Son from the wish for specialness. Only differences can seem to compete for special status. Belief in differences blocks awareness of our eternal oneness in the Love of our Father. By holding past conflicts in memory to be overlaid upon the present, we cannot know the holiness we share with all Creation.

As we forgive these ‘memories of the past,’ we release the barriers that hide the Light of present Love from our awareness. The glory of our Father’s Love enlightens our mind as we see a forgiven world. In gratitude, we accept the Holy Spirit’s help to dismiss illusions of a past and remember we are in Heaven now.

Forgiving Our Perception of Differences

The glory of my Father is my own.

Let not the truth about ourselves today be hidden by a false humility. ²Let us instead be thankful for the gifts our Father gave us. ³Can we see in those with whom He shares His glory any trace of sin and guilt? ⁴And can it be that we are not among them, when He loves His Son forever and with perfect constancy, knowing he is as He created him?

We thank You, Father, for the light that shines forever in us. ²And we honor it, because You share it with us. ³We are one, united in this light and one with You, at peace with all creation and ourselves.” (A Course in Miracles, W-239. See also ACIM Lesson 239 Insights.)

The ego demands that we perceive ourselves as less than God. This is part of its demand that we believe differences and separation are real. To the ego, it is blasphemy to claim God’s glory is our own.

But to our Creator, this is a simple statement of the truth that keeps us forever united in His Love. No one is left out of His Love. Today we accept our birthright as God’s Son by forgiving our mistaken perception of difference and joining with our brothers in the Light of Love.

Rejoicing in Our Father’s Love

I am the holy Son of God Himself.

Here is your declaration of release from bondage of the world. ²And here as well is all the world released. ³You do not see what you have done by giving to the world the role of jailer to the Son of God.

Yet what is it except a game you play in which Identity can be denied? ²You are as God created you. ³All else but this one thing is folly to believe. ⁴In this one thought is everyone set free. ⁵In this one truth are all illusions gone. ⁶In this one fact is sinlessness proclaimed to be forever part of everything, the central core of its existence and its guarantee of immortality.

But let today’s idea find a place among your thoughts and you have risen far above the world, and all the worldly thoughts that hold it prisoner. ²And from this place of safety and escape you will return and set it free. ³For he who can accept his true Identity is truly saved. ⁴And his salvation is the gift he gives to everyone, in gratitude to Him Who pointed out the way to happiness that changed his whole perspective of the world. There is a place in our mind where we know we are perfectly safe and free to extend Love without limit. It is the part of our mind that accepts our Identity as God’s Son. This part sees everyone as part of Itself. No adversary exists.

We are unaware of this part of our mind because we have accepted a false identity that sets us apart from all of God’s Creation. The antidote to this mistaken belief is to remind ourselves that we remain as God created us. We are His Son. We forgive our mistaken wish for specialness and rejoice in our oneness in the Love of our Father.
