Finding Certainty

It’s interesting to observe that I feel unsettled when I don’t have an idea of what the future will bring. This unsettled feeling comes from believing that I must have a plan and it’s up to me to make it. In this mindset, I have excluded Holy Spirit, my true Self. By this exclusion, I have cut myself off from the only Source of stability, from the changeless and eternal.

But the Holy Spirit has never left my mind. It is always present, ready to guide me back to certainty and peace. Holy Spirit, I bring my uncertainty to You and ask Your help to see past it to the certainty You know. I am willing to accept Your Gift. I am willing to see as You see and accept Your purpose for the world. With Your help, I will loose the world from all I thought it was and I will rest in Your gentle peace. In gratitude I receive.

In order to receive Holy Spirit’s gifts, I must be willing to receive the peace that goes beyond this world. I dedicate today to receiving Holy Spirit’s gift of peace. And what I receive I give, for giving and receiving are the same. This is how I can be truly helpful.

Accepting Holy Spirit’s Vision

You look still with the body’s eyes, and they can see but thorns [separation]. Yet you have asked for and received another sight. Those who accept the Holy Spirit’s purpose as their own share also His vision. And what enables Him to see His purpose shine forth from every altar now is yours as well as His. He sees no strangers; only dearly loved and loving friends. He sees no thorns but only lilies, gleaming in the gentle glow of peace that shines on everything He looks upon and loves. (A Course in Miracles T-20.II.5)

How do I join with Holy Spirit’s vision? By being willing to step aside from the ego’s constant chatter of projecting guilt outside. The ego always wants to see separation. I must be willing to move beyond the ego’s chatter and be lifted up to see in a new way. I must be willing to receive and feel the Holy Spirit’s gift of peace that wipes away fearful chatter of the ego. I must be willing to relax into the quiet beingness of peace that comes with allowing the Holy Spirit to be my Guide. I must be willing to rest in this quiet place of peace, cleansed of all the false ideas I thought before. Instead of separation, I am returned to oneness. Instead of fear, I am returned to Love. And for this I am deeply grateful.

Holy Spirit’s vision is the vision of my true Self. When I believe what the body’s eyes show me, I am denying true vision. Vision shows me the changeless strength and Love I share with God. Denial of true vision leaves me feeling weak, vulnerable and fearful. Frustration, efforting, disappointment, unhappiness, all are symptoms of denying true vision.

Holy Spirit, I offer you my thoughts and beliefs that value the images of the world, that deny Your vision. I am willing to exchange them for Your certainty that shows me the strength and Love that is already given me. I claim this strength now and with this strength, I will see with the clarity of Love.

Help Me Remember the Truth

Holy Spirit, help me remember the truth. I open my mind to Your healing Light. I open my mind to receive Your gift of peace. I know that your gifts are already there for me to receive as I am willing to do my part.

Right now I focus on my willingness to open my mind to Your healing Love… My willingness to receive the gift of truth is my focus for today. I must accept the gift of truth before I can extend it. I begin with a willingness to receive Your peace.

If I want to see truly, I must give up projecting guilt. This is why forgiveness is the way Home.

Holy Spirit, help me recognize my projections of guilt and let them go. Help me see the Love that is everywhere beyond the veil of separate images. I know this can be done because false images have no power of their own to hide the eternal Presence of Love. With Your help, I choose the strength of Love today as my Guide in all things.

Letting Go of My “Daily Planner”

The ego is the idea of being separate and therefore entirely on its own. Being on its own, it must rely on its own devices to make a seeming defense that will keep it safe, having denied the safety of Love. If I align with the ego, believing it is me, I will believe that I need to make plans for my safety. The temptation to make plans on my own is the inevitable effect of believing I am on my own. Fortunately, belief does not make reality, though it can make illusions seem real.

Holy Spirit, help me to let go of my “daily planner” mentality. I know that Your plan always leads me to perfect peace and quiet joy. I would follow Your plan today.

Today is a day for me to practice deciding that I know nothing on my own. Today is a day to practice joining with Holy Spirit’s peace and quietly following as I am guided. Today is a day of quiet listening.

I’m Willing…

Holy Spirit, I come to You with open hands and a willing heart. Help me to lay down the interferences I have made that put a veil between my awareness and the Light of truth. Help me to see the Light of Love in all things. Help me to lay down my ideas about how anything should be. Those ideas can only be made from memories of a past that is not here. I am willing to let them go. I know that my will is truly Your Will, the Will we share with God. I will there be Light.

Holy Spirit, I am willing to hand over all my concerns and worries to you. I am willing to be as a little child and be led gently down your quiet path to peace. This is my practice for today.

Forgiveness Makes Way for Light

Grievances hide the Light of the world in me. Through practicing A Course in Miracles, I have learned to more quickly recognize when I have a grievance I’m holding towards someone. But I have observed that sometimes I get caught up in a grievance that does not seem to be directed toward a known person, situation or thing.

It manifests as a feeling of edginess or defensiveness. It is as though this grievance is on the lookout for something to direct its guilt upon. Let someone make a “wrong” move and they quickly become the target for projection. I believe this “floating grievance” is really just a reflection of the underlying ego grievance against God, looking for a target to project the guilt upon. This is why the practice of taking every thought that is less than peaceful to the Holy Spirit for His loving correction is essential to awakening.

We have cleverly hidden the guilt that comes with belief in separation under many layers in our unconscious mind. Yet it will inevitably come to the surface. When it rises to the surface, it becomes a gift because it brings to our attention the need for forgiveness. Today I will be mindful of my level of peace and bring any disturbance to be transformed in the Holy Spirit’s healing Light.

Today it is my job to follow and not make decisions on my own. Today is my opportunity to open to Holy Spirit’s guidance and allow the Holy Spirit to purify the ego thoughts that come up for healing. This is the process of forgiveness that frees me from the chains of the ego thought system. Forgiveness is my only function here. And I am thankful that it is so.

My Safety Is in Defenselessness

Your practicing will now begin to take the earnestness of love, to help you keep your mind from wandering from its intent. Be not afraid nor timid. There can be no doubt that you will reach your final goal. The ministers of God can never fail, because the love and strength and peace that shine from them to all their brothers come from Him. These are His gifts to you. Defenselessness is all you need to give Him in return. You lay aside but what was never real, to look on Christ and see His sinlessness. (A Course in Miracles W-pI.153.20)

Today my practice for today is to focus on accepting the constancy of Love and strength and peace that come from our one true Self — the Holy Spirit. My job is to be willing to step back from the dream and accept the gift consistently through the day. The Holy Spirit does the rest. The gift of truth is everything and shows me that the dream of separation is really nothing. There is nothing to fear as I am willing to step back and accept the Light of Love’s oneness all through the day.

A sense of vulnerability and a need to protect myself is a sure sign that I am believing in a false image of what I am. The Self that God created is changeless and shares His strength. No protection is needed because there is no strength but His.

Today I will practice being mindful of when I feel a need for protection and offer that thought to the Holy Spirit. With His help I will see that the need is based on a false idea and I will let it go. This is how I return to the joy of Heaven.
