Letting Our Love-Light Shine

I am the light of the world.

²How holy am I, who have been given the function of lighting up the world! ³Let me be still before my holiness. ⁴In its calm light let all my conflicts disappear. ⁵In its peace let me remember Who I am.

²Let me not obscure the light of the world in me.
³Let the light of the world shine through this appearance.
⁴This shadow will vanish before the light. (A Course in Miracles, W-81.1;2:2-4. See also ACIM Lesson 81 Insights.)

Love is the truth in us. It is the Light that shines away the darkness of fear and guilt. This Light remains with us eternally. It can be hidden but not extinguished.

The Light is hidden only in dreams of separation from Love. Today, in every moment, we have an opportunity to accept the Holy Spirit’s help to let go of our wish for specialness. This wish has cost us our joy and peace of mind. It has left us feeling empty and alone.

As we forgive this mistaken idea, we let the Love in us shine through. We bring Light into the dream. It dispels the darkness and awakens us to our eternal Life in God’s Love.

Peace Is Union

⁵There is nothing else for you to find except the peace of God, unless you seek for misery and pain.”

Yet you can ask as easily for love, for happiness, and for eternal life in peace that has no ending. ²Ask for this, and you can only win. ³To ask for what you have already must succeed. ⁴To ask that what is false be true can only fail. ⁵Forgive yourself for vain imaginings, and seek no longer what you cannot find.

²But you must change your mind about the purpose of the world, if you would find escape. ³You will be bound till all the world is seen by you as blessed, and everyone made free of your mistakes and honored as he is. ⁴You made him not; no more yourself. ⁵And as you free the one, the other is accepted as he is.

…peace is union, if it be of God. ⁷We seek no further. ⁸We are close to home, and draw still nearer every time we say:

The ego’s purpose for the world is to make separation real. This could never happen except in dreams. Images of lack, loss, sickness and death are all ego images that seem to “prove” separation is real. In the ego’s universe, nothing escapes its laws.

We need to change our mind about the purpose we would serve. With that change of mind, the world we experience is transformed. When we want only the peace of God, we find happiness and peace.

God’s purpose for the world is only to maintain the oneness of His Love. He created His Son to remain eternally one with Himself. That is His gift, forever true. To seek the peace of God is to seek to remember our true Self, His Son. As we accept our union with God, the dream of separation fades away into a nothingness from which it came.

Today we are willing to accept our union with our Father and find the Love we have always been.

Remembering Our Unity with Love

I will not fear to look within today.

Within me is eternal innocence, because it is God’s Will that it be there forever and forever. ²I, His Son, whose will is limitless as is His Own, can will no change in this. ³For to deny my Father’s Will is to deny my own. ⁴To look within is but to find my will as God created it, and as it is. ⁵I fear to look within because I think I made another will that is not true, and made it real. ⁶Yet it has no effects. ⁷Within me is the Holiness of God. ⁸Within me is the memory of Him.

The step I take today, my Father, is my sure release from idle dreams of sin. ²Your altar stands serene and undefiled. ³It is the holy altar to my Self, and there I find my true Identity. (A Course in Miracles, W-309. See also ACIM Lesson 309 Insights.)

The ego is afraid to look within. It is afraid that we will remember that we are Love and nothing else. This is why guilt is so important to the ego. As long as we believe that we are guilty for anything, we will be afraid to look at what we think is the cause for guilt. The ego tells us if we look within, we will see that cause and be so repelled by it that we must avoid seeing it at all cost.

But there is no real cause for guilt. We remain Love as Love created us. When we look within, with the Holy Spirit’s help, we will see past the ego’s clouds to the brilliant Light of Love that is our true Self.

We are thankful that nothing can change what God created one with Himself. Nothing but God and His extension exists. His Love and joy are ours. We give thanks that this is so.

We Are Grateful for Our Father’s Love

In fearlessness and love I spend today.

This day, my Father, would I spend with You, as You have chosen all my days should be. ²And what I will experience is not of time at all. ³The joy that comes to me is not of days nor hours, for it comes from Heaven to Your Son. ⁴This day will be Your sweet reminder to remember You, Your gracious calling to Your holy Son, the sign Your grace has come to me, and that it is Your Will I be set free today.

We spend this day together, you and I. ²And all the world joins with us in our song of thankfulness and joy to Him Who gave salvation to us, and Who set us free. ³We are restored to peace and holiness. ⁴There is no room in us for fear today, for we have welcomed love into our hearts. Each time we truly forgive, we welcome Love into our hearts. Judgment is the ego’s primary defense against Love. By the grace of God, we can never make the ego our real Identity.

Today we ask our Inner Teacher for help to disown the ego. It has never provided anything of value. It has only interfered with our awareness of Love by offering appealing trinkets as substitutes. We want to learn to recognize the ego’s offerings are nothing we want. As we let them go, we welcome God’s Love. We gratefully remember we are His Son whom He loves without limit.

A Practice That Awakens Us to Love

You who believed that God’s Last Judgment would condemn the world to hell along with you, accept this holy truth: God’s Judgment is the gift of the Correction He bestowed on all your errors, freeing you from them, and all effects they ever seemed to have. ²To fear God’s saving grace is but to fear complete release from suffering, return to peace, security and happiness, and union with your own Identity.

²Be not afraid of love. ³For it alone can heal all sorrow, wipe away all tears, and gently waken from his dream of pain the Son whom God acknowledges as His.

This is God’s Final Judgment: “You are still My holy Son, forever innocent, forever loving and forever loved, as limitless as your Creator, and completely changeless and forever pure. ²Therefore awaken and return to Me. ³I am your Father and you are My Son.” (A Course in Miracles, W-pII.10.3;4:2-3;5)

The ego is afraid of Love; the thought of separation disappears in the oneness of Love. Our singular purpose in this world is to awaken to the Love in which we were created and that we were created to be.

We need to learn to recognize the ego thought system’s barriers established to keep it safe from Love. Every judgment the ego makes reinforces the seeming reality of separation. It fears its own judgments and attempts to hide from them by judging others. But all its judgments merely reflect the judgments the ego has placed on the Self God created as Love, united with Himself.

Today is a good day to practice being aware of our judgments. We practice taking these judgments to the Holy Spirit for His help to see the call for Love behind the judgments. With His help we offer Love in answer to the call. With this practice we will awaken to the Love we are.

Letting God’s Voice Lead Us to Happiness

The ego’s plan for salvation centers around holding grievances. ²It maintains that, if someone else spoke or acted differently, if some external circumstance or event were changed, you would be saved. ³Thus, the source of salvation is constantly perceived as outside yourself. ⁴Each grievance you hold is a declaration, and an assertion in which you believe, that says, “If this were different, I would be saved.” ⁵The change of mind necessary for salvation is thus demanded of everyone and everything except yourself.

God’s plan for salvation works simply because, by following His direction, you seek for salvation where it is. ²But if you are to succeed, as God promises you will, you must be willing to seek there only.

²Ask Him very specifically:

³What would You have me do?
⁴Where would You have me go?
⁵What would You have me say, and to whom?

⁶…let Him tell you what needs to be done by you in His plan for your salvation. ⁷He will answer in proportion to your willingness to hear His Voice. (A Course in Miracles, W-71.2;5:1-2;9:2-7. See also ACIM Lesson 71 Insights.)

We think what will make us happy is our salvation. The ego looks to forms in the world for happiness. But nothing in the ego’s world is real. So any form we find in the world will not bring us lasting happiness.

Joy is an attribute of God’s Love. If we let His Voice direct us in all our doing, we will always be led to recognize His everlasting gift of all of His Love. Nothing in this world can limit the joy that comes with His Love, because only His Love is real.

Today we are willing to be happy. We are willing to let His Voice direct our thoughts and actions.

Accepting Our Reality As Love

On my decision all salvation rests.

Father, Your trust in me has been so great, I must be worthy. ²You created me, and know me as I am. ³And yet You placed Your Son’s salvation in my hands, and let it rest on my decision. ⁴I must be beloved of You indeed. ⁵And I must be steadfast in holiness as well, that You would give Your Son to me in certainty that he is safe Who still is part of You, and yet is mine, because He is my Self.

And so, again today, we pause to think how much our Father loves us. ²And how dear His Son, created by His Love, remains to Him Whose Love is made complete in him. (A Course in Miracles, W-238. See also ACIM Lesson 238 Insights.)

Our dream of separation is a result of a decision. We made the decision to choose specialness in place of the changeless, eternal Love of God. The result of this decision is a fantasy in which we accept specialness as real in place of the Reality of Love’s oneness.

Today we are reminded that we can revoke our decision. We can choose once again to accept God’s Love as our reality. With that choice, we accept God’s peace in place of the ego’s conflicting dreams. We accept the joy of God’s completion in place of the sadness and loss that is inherent in the ego’s dreams. We accept Love in place of the fear and guilt that come with the choice for separation instead of Love’s oneness.

We are grateful that our mistaken decision has not changed God’s Mind about His Son. We still have all of His Love. Today we choose to accept that Love is our reality.
