Accepting the Changeless Love We Are

God is, and in Him all created things must be eternal. Do you not see that otherwise He has an opposite, and fear would be as real as love?

Teacher of God, your one assignment could be stated thus: Accept no compromise in which death plays a part. Do not believe in cruelty, nor let attack conceal the truth from you. What seems to die has but been misperceived and carried to illusion. Now it becomes your task to let the illusion be carried to the truth. Be steadfast but in this; be not deceived by the “reality” of any changing form. Truth neither moves nor wavers nor sinks down to death and dissolution. And what is the end of death? Nothing but this; the realization that the Son of God is guiltless now and forever. (A Course in Miracles, M-27.6:10-11;7:1-8)

A key point here is that we need “to let illusions be carried to the truth.” A characteristic of all illusions is that they change. What is of God is changeless, and therefore eternal. God is Love and Love is changeless forever. It encompasses all that is in reality.

So our practice for today is to pay attention to recognize illusions for what they are. If it is not changeless Love, it is not real. Bodies change; thus they cannot be real. The good news is the eternal Spirit that we all really are remains changeless Love. And changeless Love is guiltless, helping us remember everyone’s innocence, no matter what the dream is showing us. This is our practice for today.

Accepting the Experience of Love’s Presence

“Who walks with me?” This question should be asked a thousand times a day, till certainty has ended doubting and established peace. Today let doubting cease. God speaks for you in answering your question with these words:

I walk with God in perfect holiness. I light the world, I light my mind and all the minds which God created one with me. (A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson 156, W-pI.156.8. See also ACIM Lesson 156 Insights.)

Love is always with us because Love is our Source. We cannot be without Love because we are Love’s extension. The appearance of a loveless world of separate bodies could never be real. But believing we are in a world of separation leaves us feeling unloved and fearful.

The antidote for this is to remind ourselves a thousand times a day that we walk with Love. Love is our constant Companion. Love is everywhere to be seen. We need only accept that we remain united with Love, our Source, to see the Love that is everywhere.

The practice of reminding ourselves that we walk with Love helps us let go of the false idea that we could possibly be separate from Love. As we accept What we are, peace flows through us, fear disappears, and the joyful extension of Love is our present experience.

Accepting God’s Gifts

…the one responsibility of the miracle worker is to accept the Atonement for himself. The teacher of God is a miracle worker because he gives the gifts he has received. Yet he must first accept them. He need do no more, nor is there more that he could do. By accepting healing he can give it. If he doubts this, let him remember Who gave the gift and Who received it. Thus is his doubt corrected. He thought the gifts of God could be withdrawn. That was a mistake, but hardly one to stay with. And so the teacher of God can only recognize it for what it is, and let it be corrected for him. (M-7.3:2-11)

Letting our mistaken thoughts be corrected by the Holy Spirit is our most important job. When we look through the body’s eyes and believe in what we see, we are making a mistake. We are forgetting it is an illusion and that nothing can change God’s one holy Son.

As we consistently return to the Holy Spirit’s gift of enlightenment, our mind is healed of fear and guilt. This readjustment helps us see our brothers truly for the divine Love they are, behind the images of separation. All this comes as we accept God’s gifts of true perception throughout the day.

We Remain as Love Created Us

Steady our feet, our Father. Let our doubts be quiet and our holy minds be still, and speak to us. We have no words to give to You. We would but listen to Your Word, and make it ours. Lead our practicing as does a father lead a little child along a way he does not understand. Yet does he follow, sure that he is safe because his father leads the way for him.

So do we bring our practicing to You. And if we stumble, You will raise us up. If we forget the way, we count upon Your sure remembering. We wander off, but You will not forget to call us back. Quicken our footsteps now, that we may walk more certainly and quickly unto You. And we accept the Word You offer us [God is but Love, and therefore so am I] to unify our practicing, as we review the thoughts that You have given us. All of God’s strength is ours. Yet when we identify with the ego, we feel weak and full of doubt. We have given ourselves a false persona that is separate and alone, seemingly at the mercy of outside forces we cannot control.

To remember that all of God’s strength and Love is ours, we must give up our false persona. Thankfully, we have the Holy Spirit, our true Self, to lead us out of identifying with a false self-image back to the experience of being Love and nothing else.

The moment by moment practice of being open to the Holy Spirit’s vision of everything we look upon, of all our thoughts, is the way we let go of the false and welcome the truth that we are Love and nothing else. We remain as Love created us.

Letting Our Light Shine in the World

Humility consists of accepting your role in salvation and in taking no other. It is not humility to insist you cannot be the light of the world if that is the function God assigned to you. It is only arrogance that would assert this function cannot be for you, and arrogance is always of the ego.

True humility requires that you accept today’s idea [that you are the light of the world] because it is God’s Voice which tells you it is true. This is a beginning step in accepting your real function on earth. It is a giant stride toward taking your rightful place in salvation. (A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson 61, W-pI.61.2:3-3:3. It is our function to let the Light of the Love we are shine on all that we perceive. Love sees only Love or a calls for Love. We let our Light shine by joining with the Love in everyone, and answering calls for Love with Love.

To recognize calls for we Love, we need to let our true Self, the Holy Spirit, guide our vision. This means we need to redirect our attention from the ego thought system, which is the denial of Love. Instead we need to direct our attention to the Love within Which will shine Its Light on all we look upon, showing us the reality of Love beyond the shadows of the ego’s illusions.

We dedicate today to following our true Self’s vision so that we let our Light shine in the world.

Today I Would Be in Peace

I will be honest with myself today. I will not think that I already know what must remain beyond my present grasp. I will not think I understand the whole from bits of my perception, which are all that I can see. Today I recognize that this is so. And so I am relieved of judgments that I cannot make. Thus do I free myself and what I look upon, to be in peace as God created us. (A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson 243, W-pII.243:1. See also ACIM Lesson 243 Insights.)

Today I would be in peace by not making any judgments on my own… Today I am willing to remember that I do not know what anything means on my own…

Today I would open to Holy Spirit’s healing Light… Today I would remember that I rest in God eternally… Today I follow Holy Spirit’s inspiration all through the day… I take every uncertainty to Him for a healed perspective… Today I would be in peace.

Seeing with the Aid of God

You cannot give yourself your innocence, for you are too confused about yourself. But should one brother dawn upon your sight as wholly worthy of forgiveness, then your concept of yourself is wholly changed.

By focusing upon the good in him, the body grows decreasingly persistent in your sight, and will at length be seen as little more than just a shadow circling round the good. And this will be your concept of yourself, when you have reached the [real] world beyond the sight your eyes alone can offer you to see. For you will not interpret what you see without the Aid that God has given you. (A Course in Miracles, T-31.VII.2:4-5;3:3-5. See also ACIM Text Q & A.)

Believing what the body’s eyes show us is choosing to be blind to the truth. The body is an illusion, a false image, incapable of seeing truth. But we all have an inner vision in our minds that can see past images of bodies and other forms to the Light of Love, Which is all that is true. Because we have so identified with being a body, we need the Aid that God has given us to connect with the inner vision that shows us truth.

Today we practice bringing all we seem to see with the body’s eyes to God’s Aide Whose purpose is to guide us to see the truth of the innocence of Love that is everywhere and in everyone. As we accept this inner vision, we see that we are innocent, as we were created.
