Resting in Love’s Certainty

What makes this world seem real except your own denial of the truth that lies beyond? ²What but your thoughts of misery and death obscure the perfect happiness and the eternal life your Father wills for you? ³And what could hide what cannot be concealed except illusion? ⁴What could keep from you what you already have except your choice to see it not, denying it is there?

The Thought of God created you. ²It left you not, nor have you ever been apart from it an instant. ³It belongs to you. ⁴By it you live. ⁵It is your Source of life, holding you one with it, and everything is one with you because it left you not. ⁶The Thought of God protects you, cares for you, makes soft your resting place and smooth your way, lighting your mind with happiness and love. ⁷Eternity and everlasting life shine in your mind, because the Thought of God has left you not, and still abides with you.

Who would deny his safety and his peace, his joy, his healing and his peace of mind, his quiet rest, his calm awakening, if he but recognized where they abide?

We count on God, and not upon ourselves, to give us certainty. ²And in His Name we practice as His Word directs we do. ³His sureness lies beyond our every doubt. ⁴His Love remains beyond our every fear. ⁵The Thought of Him is still beyond all dreams and in our minds, according to His Will. All unhappiness, fear and guilt come from denying the Love that is our Identity. Our belief in the “reality” of the images in the world blinds us to the Light of Love that is ever present. Forgiveness dispels our mistaken beliefs.

Today we ask the Holy Spirit to lift us above the battleground so we can see past our errors. With His help we will remember the Love that is all that is real. We will remember that our Home is in the safety of Love’s changeless unity. We rest in the certainty of our Father’s Love.

Forgiving Our Belief in Differences

You who were created by love like itself can hold no grievances and know your Self. ²To hold a grievance is to forget who you are. ³To hold a grievance is to see yourself as a body. ⁴To hold a grievance is to let the ego rule your mind and to condemn the body to death. ⁵Perhaps you do not yet fully realize just what holding grievances does to your mind. ⁶It seems to split you off from your Source and make you unlike Him. ⁷It makes you believe that He is like what you think you have become, for no one can conceive of his Creator as unlike himself.

…he who holds grievances denies he was created by love, and his Creator has become fearful to him in his dream of hate. ⁵Who can dream of hatred and not fear God?

²It is as sure that those who hold grievances will suffer guilt, as it is certain that those who forgive will find peace. ³It is as sure that those who hold grievances will forget who they are, as it is certain that those who forgive will remember.

…think of yourself as completely at peace with everyone and everything, safe in a world that protects you and loves you, and that you love in return. ⁵Try to feel safety surrounding you, hovering over you and holding you up. ⁶Try to believe, however briefly, that nothing can harm you in any way. We can experience peace that cannot be disturbed. Only our wish to have a unique identity prevents us from knowing this reality. There are no differences in the uniformity of God’s Love. We were created by this Love, as this Love.

Today we ask the Holy Spirit to help us forgive our belief in differences. As we let differences go, we welcome Love’s peace. We embrace the Love that unites us with every brother. Gratitude fills our heart as we remember we are Love and nothing else. In Love’s oneness we find great peace and happiness.

Remembering Our Life in Love’s Oneness

⁷Your gratitude is due to Him alone Who made all cause of sorrow disappear throughout the world.

…Who offers you the certain means whereby all pain is healed, and suffering replaced with laughter and with happiness.

Walk, then, in gratitude the way of love. ²For hatred is forgotten when we lay comparisons aside. ³What more remains as obstacles to peace? ⁴The fear of God is now undone at last, and we forgive without comparing. ⁵Thus we cannot choose to overlook some things, and yet retain some other things still locked away as “sins.” ⁶When your forgiveness is complete you will have total gratitude, for you will see that everything has earned the right to love by being loving, even as your Self.

Our gratitude will pave the way to Him, and shorten our learning time by more than you could ever dream of. ²Gratitude goes hand in hand with love, and where one is the other must be found. ³For gratitude is but an aspect of the Love which is the Source of all creation. Only when differences are believed to be real are comparisons justified. But in Love’s oneness, there are no differences. Love does not compare nor judge. It sees only Itself everywhere. This is what our true Self knows.

Our function in this world is to let go of our belief in differences. As we let the Holy Spirit show us the consistency of Love that is always behind appearances of differences, we forgive the world for all we thought it was.

Today we are willing to bring our perceptions to the Holy Spirit for His loving correction. We want to remember the oneness of Love in which we live.

Love’s Reality Is Ever Present

²The world I see holds my fearful self-image in place, and guarantees its continuance. ³While I see the world as I see it now, truth cannot enter my awareness. ⁴I would let the door behind this world be opened for me, that I may look past it to the world that reflects the Love of God.

²Behind every image I have made, the truth remains unchanged. ³Behind every veil I have drawn across the face of love, its light remains undimmed. ⁴Beyond all my insane wishes is my will, united with the Will of my Father. ⁵God is still everywhere and in everything forever. ⁶And we who are part of Him will yet look past all appearances, and recognize the truth beyond them all.

²In my own mind, behind all my insane thoughts of separation and attack, is the knowledge that all is one forever. (A Course in Miracles, W-56.3:2-4;4:2-6;5:2. See also ACIM Lesson 56 Insights.)

Everything we experience as a body reinforces our belief that separation is real. It is this belief that must be undone for us to experience our reality as one in God’s Love. Only in His Love will we find deep and lasting peace, happiness and Love beyond description. Though we have convinced ourselves that separation is real, we still remain safe in God’s Love.

He has not and cannot abandon us because He created His Son one with Himself. Today we practice reminding ourselves that beyond the world we perceive through a body is the oneness of God’s Love. Here we are safe. Nothing exists that can disturb the peace that God shares with His Son. We remind ourselves frequently today that beyond all appearances the reality of Love is ever present.

Seizing Our Opportunities to Heal

Perhaps it is not yet quite clear to you that each decision that you make is one between a grievance and a miracle. ²Each grievance stands like a dark shield of hate before the miracle it would conceal. ³And as you raise it up before your eyes, you will not see the miracle beyond. ⁴Yet all the while it waits for you in light, but you behold your grievances instead.

Today we go beyond the grievances, to look upon the miracle instead.

Then let us ask of Him Who knows this Son of God in his reality and truth, that we may look on him a different way, and see our savior shining in the light of true forgiveness, given unto us. ²We ask Him in the holy Name of God and of His Son, as holy as Himself:

³Let me behold my savior in this one You have appointed as the one for me to ask to lead me to the holy light in which he stands, that I may join with him.

⁴The body’s eyes are closed, and as you think of him who grieved you, let your mind be shown the light in him beyond your grievances.

God thanks you for these quiet times today in which you laid your images aside, and looked upon the miracle of love the Holy Spirit showed you in their place. (A Course in Miracles, W-78.1:1–2:1;7:1-4;9:1. See also ACIM Lesson 78 Insights.)

This process is how we let every brother be our savior. If we see the Love he is, we remember that we are Love. If we judge him in any way, he offers us another opportunity to let that judgment be released and see him as the Love he is.

The key to our healing and returning to our true Self is to accept the opportunity to let the judgment go. Every moment of every day offers us the opportunity to recognize that only Love is real. It is our choice whether or not we accept the opportunity.

Today is a good day to practice.

Claiming Our Identity as Love

²Reality is never frightening. ³It is impossible that it could upset me. ⁴Reality brings only perfect peace. ⁵When I am upset, it is always because I have replaced reality with illusions I made up. ⁶The illusions are upsetting because I have given them reality, and thus regard reality as an illusion. ⁷Nothing in God’s creation is affected in any way by this confusion of mine. ⁸I am always upset by nothing.

²I see only my own thoughts, and my mind is preoccupied with the past. ³What, then, can I see as it is? ⁴Let me remember that I look on the past to prevent the present from dawning on my mind. ⁵Let me understand that I am trying to use time against God. ⁶Let me learn to give the past away, realizing that in so doing I am giving up nothing.

²I have no private thoughts. ³Yet it is only private thoughts of which I am aware. ⁴What can these thoughts mean? ⁵They do not exist, and so they mean nothing. ⁶Yet my mind is part of creation and part of its Creator. ⁷Would I not rather join the thinking of the universe than to obscure all that is really mine with my pitiful and meaningless “private” thoughts? Feeling lack of peace is a sure sign that we are giving illusions credence in place of reality. God created us as Love, at one with Himself. Being one, there are no differences in Love. Conflict and loss are impossible, for Love is eternal. To identify with our true Self is to identify with Love.

Today as we perceive a world of conflict and loss, we remind ourselves that we are Love and nothing else, along with our Creator. We ask the Holy Spirit to help us set aside the illusions that interfere with the awareness of our true Identity. The peace of God is our Identity now. We choose to accept His help to forgive our mistaken beliefs. Thus we will claim our true Identity.

Returning to the Serenity of Our True Self

Only an instant does this world endure.

This is a thought which can be used to say that death and sorrow are the certain lot of all who come here, for their joys are gone before they are possessed, or even grasped. ²Yet this is also the idea that lets no false perception keep us in its hold, nor represent more than a passing cloud upon a sky eternally serene. ³And it is this serenity we seek, unclouded, obvious and sure, today.

We seek Your holy world today. ²For we, Your loving Sons, have lost our way a while. ³But we have listened to Your Voice, and learned exactly what to do to be restored to Heaven and our true Identity. ⁴And we give thanks today the world endures but for an instant. ⁵We would go beyond that tiny instant to eternity. In our quest for serenity, we need to follow a guide who knows where it is. While we are invested in the ego thought system, we are choosing a guide that knows neither where it is nor what it is. By the grace of God, we have been given Guide in our mind Who knows God’s serenity. His mission is to guide us to find the only serenity that exists in truth.

Today we ask the Holy Spirit to help us let go of our mistaken perceptions which disturb our innate serenity. We are willing to return to our Home where peace is eternal and Love extends forever.
