Accepting God’s Gift of Happiness

Happiness and fulfillment walk hand in hand. Happiness comes when we fulfill our life purpose, given us by God. God’s Will for us is perfect happiness. Our life will be filled with joy when we accept God’s Will as ours.

To this the ego clamors nervously, “Don’t go there. You’ll have to sacrifice everything.” In truth accepting God’s Will as ours comes with letting go of the nothingness of ego’s values, which makes way to receive God’s gift of everything. The idea of sacrifice is the foundation of the ego. To make an identity we call our own, we have to “sacrifice” our unity with Love. With this sacrifice, lasting happiness is impossible. We can only make temporary circumstances with seemingly pleasing images. But because they are illusions, they never last and we must continue to search for happiness and fulfillment where it cannot be found — in the dream of illusions. At some point we all come to the realization that there must be a better way.

Today we will step back from our self-made goals in a self-made dream. We would listen to the Voice that speaks for the Truth in us and let It guide us in the way of lasting happiness. We would accept the Will of God as our own, remembering that it is the will to be perfectly happy, to love and be loved, to rest in the sure and quiet Presence of our Source. Today we would step back and let Him lead the way.
