Remembering We Are Love

¹²Communication between what cannot be divided cannot cease. ¹³The holy meeting place of the unseparated Father and His Son lies in the Holy Spirit and in you. ¹⁴All interference in the communication that God Himself wills with His Son is quite impossible here. ¹⁵Unbroken and uninterrupted love flows constantly between the Father and the Son, as Both would have it be. ¹⁶And so it is.

Let your mind wander not through darkened corridors, away from light’s center. ²You and your brother may choose to lead yourselves astray, but you can be brought together only by the Guide appointed for you. ³He will surely lead you to where God and His Son await your recognition. ⁴They are joined in giving you the gift of oneness, before which all separation vanishes. ⁵Unite with what you are. ⁶You cannot join with anything except reality. ⁷God’s glory and His Son’s belong to you in truth. ⁸They have no opposite, and nothing else can you bestow upon yourself.

There is no substitute for truth. ²And truth will make this plain to you as you are brought into the place where you must meet with truth. ³And there you must be led, through gentle understanding which can lead you nowhere else. ⁴Where God is, there are you. ⁵Such is the truth. We have led ourselves into a dark dream where Love is absent and oneness is unknown. Thankfully, dreams can have no affect on reality. But we need help to be awakened from our dreams. We have been given the Holy Spirit whose function is to gently bring the Light of Love to our troubled mind.

His function is to show us that there is no distance between ourselves and every brother. We are eternally united in the Love that is the truth about everyone. He teaches us that differences are meaningless. They only interfere with our awareness of our true Self, which remains in constant communication with our Father through the unlimited flow of Love extending without limit.

As we accept the Holy Spirit’s lessons in Love, we remember that we are loved and loving.

Bringing the Light of Love to the World

Like any good teacher, the Holy Spirit knows more than you do now, but He teaches only to make you equal with Him. ²You had already taught yourself wrongly, having believed what was not true. ³You did not believe in your own perfection. ⁴Would God teach you that you had made a split mind, when He knows your mind only as whole? ⁵What God does know is that His communication channels are not open to Him, so that He cannot impart His joy and know that His children are wholly joyous. ⁶Giving His joy is an ongoing process, not in time but in eternity. ⁷God’s extending outward, though not His completeness, is blocked when the Sonship does not communicate with Him as one. ⁸So He thought, “My children sleep and must be awakened.

How can you wake children in a more kindly way than by a gentle Voice that will not frighten them, but will merely remind them that the night is over and the light has come? ²You do not inform them that the nightmares that frightened them so badly are not real, because children believe in magic. ³You merely reassure them that they are safe now. ⁴Then you train them to recognize the difference between sleeping and waking, so they will understand they need not be afraid of dreams. ⁵And so when bad dreams come, they will themselves call on the light to dispel them.

⁴The Holy Spirit makes no distinction among dreams. ⁵He merely shines them away. ⁶His light is always the Call to awaken, whatever you have been dreaming. ⁷Nothing lasting lies in dreams, and the Holy Spirit, shining with the light from God Himself, speaks only for what lasts forever. God is eternally giving all of His joy to His Son. If we are not experiencing His joy, we are simply engaged with a dream that isolates our mind from our true nature. We have been given a gentle Voice that calls us to awaken. It reminds us that we are forever safe in our Father’s Love. It is ours, now and forever.

Let us pause, if at least for a moment, to step back from the busyness in the world and let our mind be quiet. In quiet, the Holy Spirit shows us that we remain safe, protected from any harm by our Father’s warm embrace. His vision helps us see past our perceived problems to the one Love we share with all creation. With a peaceful mind, we resume our appointed way to bring the Light of Love to the world.

Welcoming the Love That Is Our Identity

The holy Christ is born in me today.

Watch with me, angels, watch with me today. ²Let all God’s holy Thoughts surround me, and be still with me while Heaven’s Son is born. ³Let earthly sounds be quiet, and the sights to which I am accustomed disappear. ⁴Let Christ be welcomed where He is at home. ⁵And let Him hear the sounds He understands, and see but sights that show His Father’s Love. ⁶Let Him no longer be a stranger here, for He is born again in me today.

Your Son is welcome, Father. ²He has come to save me from the evil self I made. ³He is the Self that You have given me. ⁴He is but what I really am in truth. ⁵He is the Son You love above all things. ⁶He is my Self as You created me. ⁷It is not Christ that can be crucified. ⁸Safe in Your Arms let me receive Your Son. Christ is another name for God’s Son, our true Identity. In the stupor of our dream of separation, we are unaware of our Identity as Christ. But as we welcome the Love that is our true Self, we remember that we live in our Father’s Love. We remember the safety and peace of the Home our Father keeps for us, untouched by our fearful dreams.

Our heart dances with joy as we remember our unity with every brother. We celebrate the return of Christ as our true Self as we forgive our mistaken belief that we ever lost our Father’s Love.

The Journey into Light

What do you want? ²Light or darkness, knowledge or ignorance are yours, but not both. ³Opposites must be brought together, not kept apart. ⁴For their separation is only in your mind, and they are reconciled by union, as you are. ⁵In union, everything that is not real must disappear, for truth is union. ⁶As darkness disappears in light, so ignorance fades away when knowledge dawns. ⁷Perception is the medium by which ignorance is brought to knowledge. ⁸Yet the perception must be without deceit, for otherwise it becomes the messenger of ignorance rather than a helper in the search for truth.

The Holy Spirit asks of you but this; bring to Him every secret you have locked away from Him. ²Open every door to Him, and bid Him enter the darkness and lighten it away. ³At your request He enters gladly. ⁴He brings the light to darkness if you make the darkness open to Him. ⁵But what you hide He cannot look upon. ⁶He sees for you, and unless you look with Him He cannot see. ⁷The vision of Christ is not for Him alone, but for Him with you. The Holy Spirit is our Guide to awaken from the dream of separation. He sees the truth while recognizing our mistaken beliefs that hide the truth from our awareness. Thus He serves as a bridge. Like a seeing eye dog helps a blind person avoid obstacles, the Holy Spirit is present in our mind to help us dismiss false perceptions and lead us past them to true perception.

This is the journey that will bring us Home to the peace, happiness and eternal Love, where we belong. We take a step on this journey each time we offer our perceptions to the Holy Spirit for His loving correction. With practice, our hesitant, initial steps become more confident. We learn that we can count on the Holy Spirit to guide us to what we truly want.

The ego always deceives, but there is no deception in the Holy Spirit, for He represents the truth of our Reality in God. Today we practice letting the Holy Spirit help us advance on our journey to union in the Light of Love.

Finding Our True Environment

I want the peace of God.

To say these words is nothing. ²But to mean these words is everything. ³If you could but mean them for just an instant, there would be no further sorrow possible for you in any form; in any place or time. ⁴Heaven would be completely given back to full awareness, memory of God entirely restored, the resurrection of all creation fully recognized.

No one can mean these words and not be healed. ²He cannot play with dreams, nor think he is himself a dream. ³He cannot make a hell and think it real. ⁴He wants the peace of God, and it is given him. ⁵For that is all he wants, and that is all he will receive.

The mind which means that all it wants is peace must join with other minds, for that is how peace is obtained. ²And when the wish for peace is genuine, the means for finding it is given, in a form each mind that seeks for it in honesty can understand.

No one who truly seeks the peace of God can fail to find it. ²For he merely asks that he deceive himself no longer by denying to himself what is God’s Will. ³Who can remain unsatisfied who asks for what he has already? ⁴Who could be unanswered who requests an answer which is his to give? ⁵The peace of God is yours. Everyone in the world is seeking more peace. But our identification with the ego seems to make peace an impossible goal. The ego thrives on conflict. In fact it is afraid of peace and will do anything to distract us from finding the peace we seek.

To want the peace of God exclusively is to let go of any identification with the ego thought system of separation. We were created by the Source of peace to be held forever within Its presence. The peace we seek is already ours.

Today we acknowledge that we do not know the path to peace. And so we turn to the Guide in our mind Who was given us to lead us back to full remembrance of our eternal Identity in the peace of God. Of ourselves we do not know the way, but He does. We welcome His help as we remember we do not know the way on our own. We let Him show us the presence of peace that is our true environment. And we give thanks.

Accepting the Truth Sets Us Free

Trusting your brothers is essential to establishing and holding up your faith in your ability to transcend doubt and lack of sure conviction in yourself. ²When you attack a brother, you proclaim that he is limited by what you have perceived in him. ³You do not look beyond his errors. ⁴Rather, they are magnified, becoming blocks to your awareness of the Self that lies beyond your own mistakes, and past his seeming sins as well as yours.

…if a brother’s sins occur to us, our narrowed focus will restrict our sight, and turn our eyes upon our own mistakes, which we will magnify and call our “sins.” ³So, for a little while, without regard to past or future, should such blocks arise we will transcend them with instructions to our minds to change their focus, as we say:

⁴It is not this that I would look upon.
⁵I trust my brothers, who are one with me.

…as our focus goes beyond mistakes, we will behold a wholly sinless world. ⁴When seeing [innocence] is all we want to see, when this is all we seek for in the name of true perception, are the eyes of Christ inevitably ours. ⁵And the Love He feels for us becomes our own as well. ⁶This will become the only thing we see reflected in the world and in ourselves. Every brother deserves our trust because he is part of our one true Self. He is not a body, nor are we. As an illusion, whatever any body does is not real. It has no effect on reality. Seeing what is trustworthy in our brother depends our willingness to forgive our mistaken belief that separate images are real.

Forgiveness opens our mind to Christ’s vision, which recognizes his innocence as Love and nothing else. It sees the unity we share with every brother. As we see his innocence, we recognize our own. Recognizing the truth in our brothers sets us free from our own denial of our true Self.

Receiving the Blessing of Our Brother’s Love

Today we practice differently, and take a stand against our anger, that our fears may disappear and offer room to love. …³Here is the answer to temptation which can never fail to welcome in the Christ where fear and anger had prevailed before.

⁵The purpose of all seeing is to show you what you wish to see. ⁶All hearing but brings to your mind the sounds it wants to hear.

Thus were specifics made. ²And now it is specifics we must use in practicing. ³We give them to the Holy Spirit, that He may employ them for a purpose which is different from the one we gave to them. ⁴Yet He can use but what we made, to teach us from a different point of view, so we can see a different use in everything.

One brother is all brothers. ²Every mind contains all minds, for every mind is one.

⁶Ask this of [your brother], that he may set you free:

⁷Give me your blessing, holy Son of God. ⁸I would behold you with the eyes of Christ, and see my perfect sinlessness in you. (A Course in Miracles, W-161:1,3;2:5–4:2;11:6-8. See also ACIM Lesson 161 Insights.)

The body’s eyes and ears were made to perceive differences, which the ego mind interprets according to its wishes. But we are asked to give these tools to the Holy Spirit to be used for a different purpose.

The Christ Mind, our true Self, recognizes only the Love that is the truth in every brother. Instead of interpreting based on the ego’s wishes, the Christ Mind interprets all as one, for It only recognizes Love as real. When we recognize the Love that is our brother, we receive His blessings, for we see the Love in our true Self.

Asking our brother to give us his blessing is accepting the Love that unites us all as one. When we see with the eyes of Christ, we have let go of the ego’s wishes and accepted our Identity as universal Love.
