Accepting a New Perception of the World

Peace is the bridge that everyone will cross, to leave this world behind. But peace begins within the world perceived as different, and leading from this fresh perception to the gate of Heaven and the way beyond. Peace is the answer to conflicting goals, to senseless journeys, frantic, vain pursuits, and meaningless endeavors. Now the way is easy, sloping gently toward the bridge where freedom lies within the peace of God. (A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson 200, W-pI.200.8. See also ACIM Lesson 200 Insights.)

The only way to release ourselves from the hell of this world is through changing our perception of the world. We cannot escape the dream of fear and guilt by doing anything with or to the body. A dream image (the body) can only seem to function within the dream. Thus doing anything with the body is just a continuation of the dream, sometimes seeming to be in a different form.

Everything we perceive in the world is a projection of what we believe. We change our perception of the world by changing our belief. Beliefs are how we bring the past to the present. Forgiveness is the means by which we change our beliefs. Through forgiveness, we let go of the past. Our beliefs change and we perceive the world differently.

To forgive the past we believe in, we need help from One Who does not believe in the dream — the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is the bridge between the oneness of our Creator and our mistaken beliefs in separation. He can see what we believe, but does not believe in them. Thus the Holy Spirit can guide us to recognize the dream as unreal — just a projection that is coming from our own mind.

When we are willing to open our minds and hearts to the Holy Spirit’s vision, we perceive the world differently. We see that what is not an extension of Love is just a call for Love, nothing more. A call for Love is harmless and offers us an opportunity to bless by answering the call with Love. When we answer with Love, we bless and experience Love’s blessing. As we learn to recognize every call for Love and answer with Love, we receive the peace of God and we cross the bridge to Heaven.

Forgiveness Offers You Freedom

Who can be born again in Christ but him who has forgiven everyone he sees or thinks of or imagines?

Therefore, hold no one prisoner. Release instead of bind, for thus are you made free. The way is simple. Every time you feel a stab of anger, realize you hold a sword above your head. And it will fall or be averted as you choose to be condemned or free. Thus does each one who seems to tempt you to be angry represent your savior from the prison house of death. And so you owe him thanks instead of pain.

Today we practice offering forgiveness to everyone we meet or even think of. Today we watch our judgments and hand them over to the Holy Spirit for our thoughts to be transformed. Today we let the Holy Spirit free us from the bondage of our belief in separation from God and our brother.

Forgiveness returns us to the awareness of God’s oneness. And for this we give thanks.

Remembering Our One True Self

You are one Self, united and secure in light and joy and peace. 

You are one Self, in perfect harmony with all there is, and all that there will be. You are one Self, the holy Son of God, united with your brothers in that Self; united with your Father in His Will. Feel this one Self in you, and let It shine away all your illusions and your doubts. This is your Self, the Son of God Himself, sinless as Its Creator, with His strength within you and His Love forever yours. You are one Self, and it is given you to feel this Self within you, and to cast all your illusions out of the one Mind that is this Self, the holy truth in you. Today we practice remembering our oneness with every brother… Every brother’s true Self is our true Self… God’s Light, our true Self, is united, with no barriers, no gaps and no differences…

Our experience in this world is very different as we remember everyone’s true Self. We help every brother, along with us, as we are willing to remember this truth.

We give thanks all through the day that this holy truth is eternally present in our minds, as we are willing to remember. We are inspired throughout the day as we join with our inner Light, our one true Self.

God’s Love Sees Past Illusions

Perhaps you think that different kinds of love are possible. Perhaps you think there is a kind of love for this, a kind for that; a way of loving one, another way of loving still another. Love is one. It has no separate parts and no degrees; no kinds nor levels, no divergencies and no distinctions. It is like itself, unchanged throughout. It never alters with a person or a circumstance. It is the Heart of God, and also of His Son.

Love’s meaning is your own, and shared by God Himself. For what you are is what He is. There is no love but His, and what He is, is everything there is. There is no limit placed upon Himself, and so are you unlimited as well.

Call to your Father, certain that His Voice will answer. …allow His Voice to teach love’s meaning to your clean and open mind.” (A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson 127, W-pI.127.1,4:2-5;9:1,5. See also ACIM Lesson 127 Insights.)

We can always count on the certainty of God’s changeless Love. God’s Love is ever present, never varying nor withheld, always fully given without limit. As we accept this certainty, we know that we are safe and have everything we need.

In this world the only real need we have is to remember that God’s Love is ours, completely. Any sense of weakness, abandonment, uncertainty, unworthiness, fear or guilt comes from believing in a false image of what we are. The Self God created as Love’s extension is as complete as God, needing nothing. Our Self’s joy comes from extending Love without limit.

The only meaningful use of time in this world is to let go of false images and beliefs that interfere with our awareness that we are God’s Love, safe in the Arms of Love. We recognize this as we let God’s Love help us see beyond illusions.

Opening to the Light Within You

There is a light in you which cannot die; whose presence is so holy that the world is sanctified because of you.

This is the way salvation works. As you step back, the light in you steps forward and encompasses the world. It heralds not the end of sin in punishment and death. In lightness and in laughter is sin gone, because its quaint absurdity is seen. It is a foolish thought, a silly dream, not frightening, ridiculous perhaps, but who would waste an instant in approach to God Himself for such a senseless whim?

“Who walks with me?” This question should be asked a thousand times a day, till certainty has ended doubting and established peace. Today let doubting cease. God speaks for you in answering your question with these words:

I walk with God in perfect holiness. I light the world, I light my mind and all the minds which God created one with me. (A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson 156, W-pI.156.4:1;6,8. See also ACIM Lesson 156 Insights.)

We are no more limited than God. And God is unlimited, eternal and changeless. His Light is in us. It is our Life, the Life we share with God.

In this world it doesn’t seem that we are unlimited. We see individual bodies and forms. It seems that there are other bodies that can make us feel good or bad, safe or endangered. Yet these are false images that we need to step back from — we need to let go of identifying with these images as what we are.

As we let go of these mistaken images, we open to the recognition that we always walk with God. God is our constant Companion. His strength is ours and we share His peace and joy. The Love God is is What we are. The Light of God is What we are.

As we step back and let God’s Light shine through, we experience the deep peace and perfect happiness that is God’s gift to His Son

Healing Our Relationships

Select one brother, symbol of the rest, and ask salvation of him. See him first as clearly as you can, in that same form to which you are accustomed. See his face, his hands and feet, his clothing. Watch him smile, and see familiar gestures which he makes so frequently. Then think of this: What you are seeing now conceals from you the sight of one who can forgive you all your sins; whose sacred hands can take away the nails which pierce your own, and lift the crown of thorns which you have placed upon your bleeding head. Ask this of him, that he may set you free:

Give me your blessing, holy Son of God. I would behold you with the eyes of Christ, and see my perfect sinlessness in you.

And He will answer Whom you called upon. For He will hear the Voice for God in you, and answer in your own. Behold him now, whom you have seen as merely flesh and bone, and recognize that Christ has come to you. Today’s idea is your safe escape from anger and from fear. Be sure you use it instantly, should you be tempted to attack a brother and perceive in him the symbol of your fear. And you will see him suddenly transformed from enemy to savior; from the devil into Christ. (A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson 161, W-pI.161.11-12. See also ACIM Lesson 161 Insights.)

Today we practice this process, given us by Holy Spirit, to heal all our relationships. We are willing to let our projections be transformed into extensions of Love. We welcome Holy Spirit’s freedom to escape from all anger and fear. We are willing to see past bodies to see with the eyes of Christ. We are willing to see every brother’s innocence. Thus will we heal our relationships.

Remembering God’s Oneness with Every Brother

The holiest of all the spots on earth is where an ancient hatred has become a present love. …What hatred has released to love becomes the brightest light in Heaven’s radiance. And all the lights in Heaven brighter grow, in gratitude for what has been restored.

Around you angels hover lovingly, to keep away all darkened thoughts of sin, and keep the light where it has entered in. Your footprints lighten up the world, for where you walk forgiveness gladly goes with you.

Now is the temple of the living God rebuilt as host again to Him by Whom it was created. Where He dwells, His Son dwells with Him, never separate. (A Course in Miracles, T-26.IX.6:1,5-6;7:1-2;8:1-2. See also ACIM Text Q & A.)

Today we practice opening our minds to receive the truth about every brother. Beyond our projections of separation lie the face of Christ and memory of God. In deep gratitude we open our minds to see what forgiveness offers us…

Simple, uncomplicated Love replaces the shadow thoughts of the false ego mind… We relax and welcome the truth that every brother in this world remains one with God, one with all Love… Peace and happiness return as we return to the awareness of Love’s Presence…
