Defenselessness Makes Way for Strength

Today our theme is our defenselessness. We clothe ourselves in it, as we prepare to meet the day. We rise up strong in Christ, and let our weakness disappear, as we remember that His strength abides in us. We will remind ourselves that He remains beside us through the day, and never leaves our weakness unsupported by His strength. We call upon His strength each time we feel the threat of our defenses undermine our certainty of purpose. We will pause a moment, as He tells us, “I am here.” (A Course in Miracles, W-pI.153.19)

When we believe we are separate from our Creator, our Source of strength, a sense of weakness is inevitable. The strength of God remains with us, but we are not aware of it. Defensiveness is a natural response to a feeling of weakness, but it is a response to a false idea.

When something seems to disturb our peace, our happiness, our joy, it can be helpful to remind ourselves that this disturbance comes from believing in an appearance that is not true. The next step is to ask the Source of true vision to help us see the truth beyond the appearance.

As we open our minds to correction, our inner Teacher can show us that what seemed to be cause for defensiveness has no substance and cannot hurt us. As we loosen our investment in the belief that threat is real, a sense of calmness replaces the fear. We feel the strength of God in us replace the sense of weakness.

The practice of bringing any disturbance to our inner Teacher for His healing correction is the practice of forgiveness. It is the way we let go of illusions of isolation and weakness. It is the way we open to the strength of Love that unifies us with all our brothers and our Source. It is the way we return to peace and happiness. It is the way we move from defensiveness to defenselessness as we accept the strength of God in us.

Giving and Receiving Peace of Mind

To give is to receive. Today we will attempt to offer peace to everyone, and see how quickly peace returns to us. Light is tranquility, and in that peace is vision given us, and we can see.

To everyone I offer quietness.
To everyone I offer peace of mind.
To everyone I offer gentleness.

Say each one slowly and then pause a while, expecting to receive the gift you gave. And it will come to you in the amount in which you gave it.” (A Course in Miracles, W-pI.108.7:3-5;8:6-8;9:1-2)

Judgment is the cause of conflict. We cannot judge and have peace of mind. This is why forgiveness is the path to peace of mind.

When we let go of condemnation with the Holy Spirit’s help, we are able to see the unity of Love beyond all appearances. We give peace of mind and receive peace of mind by laying down judgment. This makes way for the clear vision of our true Self to show us there is no ‘other’ to defend against.

Separation never has occurred so there is no cause for guilt. We can happily welcome all our brothers into the boundless circle of Love that is our one Self. Our minds are at peace as we recognize we are all joined in Love’s Creation.

Accepting Christ’s Vision

Christ’s hand holds all His brothers in Himself. He gives them vision for their sightless eyes, and sings to them of Heaven, that their ears may hear no more the sound of battle and of death. …The sight of Christ is all there is to see. The song of Christ is all there is to hear. The hand of Christ is all there is to hold. There is no journey but to walk with Him. (A Course in Miracles, T-24.V.7:2-3,7-10)

We open our minds and give welcome to the Christ Mind… We rest in Its healing Love… We are calmed by Its healing song… We take all our concerns and worries to this loving Presence in our mind… Here we are shown how to see clearly… Here we are shown how to be truly helpful… We are willing for all our false ideas of differences and separation to be undone… We let Christ’s Love flow through us today.

Accepting God’s Gifts

I am willing to accept Your Will for me… I am willing to accept the happiness You will for me… I am willing to accept Your gift of peace… I am willing to accept Your Love…

I remember that I accept by giving what I receive… I am willing to give Your Love… Your peace… Your joy… I have wandered in the wilderness of forgetfulness. I am willing now to follow the Guide You have given me to lead me out of the valley of forgetfulness into the paradise of Your Love… I am willing, with Your Help, to bring my brothers with me that together as one we may remember that we are the Self You created as Your Son.

Living in Gentleness

As we accept the strength of God in us, we are naturally gentle. Knowing our strength, we feel safe; there is no need to defend. Feeling safe, we are naturally peaceful and free of conflict. From this peaceful, gentle place we see past appearances to the Love and peace that is in everyone and is everywhere.

Kindness is always a companion to gentleness. The desire of our hearts to extend Love shows us the Love in our brothers. It inspires us to be gentle and patient when we see a call for Love. Because we know there is no need to defend, we easily recognize calls for Love for what they are and naturally respond with Love.

Today we focus on holding gentleness in our hearts. Gentleness holds the door open for the free flow of kindness and Love. As we let this flow freely, our hearts overflow with the joy of remembering we are one with our brothers and with the Source of all joy. Our gratitude abounds.

Seeing Beyond Appearances

Beyond the appearance of separate bodies there lies the truth of our oneness as changeless eternal Spirit. Beyond appearances is eternal Love. In truth we are just like our Father, Who remains eternally changeless.

Today we would seek and find the eternal Truth in everyone we meet or even think of. Our inner Teacher will gladly bring the Truth of our eternal unity with God to our awareness. Our inner Teacher will gladly help us see past appearances to the changeless Love that we all really are.

Today we have an important mission — to see past illusions to the Truth with the help of our true Self, our inner Teacher. Today we happily see the Truth and we give thanks.

Making Room for God’s Joy

When we feel alone, separate and depressed, we are edging God out. As we consistently practice opening our minds to receive God’s peace, Love and joy, all sense of being alone and separate disappears… We know in truth that all is well and we are safe eternally in God’s Love…

We remember that we are inherently joined or united with God’s Love… and we are willing to share God’s Love equally with all…

All this comes as we make room in our minds to receive God’s joy… We become willing to let God’s Love do its healing work through us.
