Remembering Our Identity Is Love

⁵God would not have Heaven incomplete. ⁶It waits for you, as I do. ⁷I am incomplete without your part in me. ⁸And as I am made whole we go together to our ancient home, prepared for us before time was and kept unchanged by time, immaculate and safe, as it will be at last when time is done.

²For this alone I need; that you will hear the words I speak, and give them to the world. ³You are my voice, my eyes, my feet, my hands through which I save the world. ⁴The Self from which I call to you is but your own. ⁵To Him we go together. ⁶Take your brother’s hand, for this is not a way we walk alone. ⁷In him I walk with you, and you with me. ⁸Our Father wills His Son be one with Him. ⁹What lives but must not then be one with you?

⁵You are His Son, completing His extension in your own. ⁶We practice but an ancient truth we knew before illusion seemed to claim the world. ⁷And we remind the world that it is free of all illusions every time we say:

⁸God is but Love, and therefore so am I. (A Course in Miracles, W-rV.in.8:5-8;9:2-9;10:5-8)

We have hidden our true Identity under a cloud of false beliefs. We want these beliefs because they seem to provide the specialness we have asked for. They set us apart from others, perhaps above or perhaps below, but never one with all. Fortunately false beliefs cannot make error real.

Today we are reminded that, like God, we are Love and nothing else. We are His Son, with all the attributes of our Father. It is time to let go of the wish for specialness. We have been given the means to remember our true Identity. This mighty Companion, our best Friend, knows the way to awaken to the Love we are.

Today we choose Him as our Guide, for we would remember we are Love and nothing else.

Letting Christ Be Reborn in Us

Who can be born again in Christ but him who has forgiven everyone he sees or thinks of or imagines? ²Who could be set free while he imprisons anyone?

Therefore, hold no one prisoner. ²Release instead of bind, for thus are you made free. ³The way is simple. ⁴Every time you feel a stab of anger, realize you hold a sword above your head. ⁵And it will fall or be averted as you choose to be condemned or free. ⁶Thus does each one who seems to tempt you to be angry represent your savior from the prison house of death. ⁷And so you owe him thanks instead of pain.

Be merciful today. ²The Son of God deserves your mercy. ³It is he who asks that you accept the way to freedom now. ⁴Deny him not. ⁵His Father’s Love for him belongs to you. ⁶Your function here on earth is only to forgive him, that you may accept him back as your Identity. ⁷He is as God created him. ⁸And you are what he is. ⁹Forgive him now his sins [thoughts of separation], and you will see that you are one with him. Any perception that disturbs our peace is a sign that we see ourselves as separate. Any words, behavior, event or circumstance that disturbs us shows us that we see ourselves as separate. Recognition of this becomes a gift if we use it as a reminder to let go of our belief in separation. When we recognize it for what it is, we can call upon our inner Teacher to help us heal our thoughts of separation.

This brings true forgiveness. It may appear to be forgiving another, but it is always forgiving our own belief in separation. When forgiveness is complete, we recognize the unity of Love in which we live with All That is. The Self we are is the Christ, reborn in our awareness as the Son of God. In truth we remain united in Love with all Reality eternally.

Letting Our Love-Light Shine

I am the light of the world.

²How holy am I, who have been given the function of lighting up the world! ³Let me be still before my holiness. ⁴In its calm light let all my conflicts disappear. ⁵In its peace let me remember Who I am.

²Let me not obscure the light of the world in me.
³Let the light of the world shine through this appearance.
⁴This shadow will vanish before the light. (A Course in Miracles, W-81.1;2:2-4. See also ACIM Lesson 81 Insights.)

Love is the truth in us. It is the Light that shines away the darkness of fear and guilt. This Light remains with us eternally. It can be hidden but not extinguished.

The Light is hidden only in dreams of separation from Love. Today, in every moment, we have an opportunity to accept the Holy Spirit’s help to let go of our wish for specialness. This wish has cost us our joy and peace of mind. It has left us feeling empty and alone.

As we forgive this mistaken idea, we let the Love in us shine through. We bring Light into the dream. It dispels the darkness and awakens us to our eternal Life in God’s Love.

Peace Is Union

⁵There is nothing else for you to find except the peace of God, unless you seek for misery and pain.”

Yet you can ask as easily for love, for happiness, and for eternal life in peace that has no ending. ²Ask for this, and you can only win. ³To ask for what you have already must succeed. ⁴To ask that what is false be true can only fail. ⁵Forgive yourself for vain imaginings, and seek no longer what you cannot find.

²But you must change your mind about the purpose of the world, if you would find escape. ³You will be bound till all the world is seen by you as blessed, and everyone made free of your mistakes and honored as he is. ⁴You made him not; no more yourself. ⁵And as you free the one, the other is accepted as he is.

…peace is union, if it be of God. ⁷We seek no further. ⁸We are close to home, and draw still nearer every time we say:

⁹There is no peace except the peace of God, and I am glad and thankful it is so. (A Course in Miracles, W-200.1:5;3:1-5;5:2-5;11:6-9. See also ACIM Lesson 200 Insights.)

The ego’s purpose for the world is to make separation real. This could never happen except in dreams. Images of lack, loss, sickness and death are all ego images that seem to “prove” separation is real. In the ego’s universe, nothing escapes its laws.

We need to change our mind about the purpose we would serve. With that change of mind, the world we experience is transformed. When we want only the peace of God, we find happiness and peace.

God’s purpose for the world is only to maintain the oneness of His Love. He created His Son to remain eternally one with Himself. That is His gift, forever true. To seek the peace of God is to seek to remember our true Self, His Son. As we accept our union with God, the dream of separation fades away into a nothingness from which it came.

Today we are willing to accept our union with our Father and find the Love we have always been.

Remembering Our Unity with Love

I will not fear to look within today.

Within me is eternal innocence, because it is God’s Will that it be there forever and forever. ²I, His Son, whose will is limitless as is His Own, can will no change in this. ³For to deny my Father’s Will is to deny my own. ⁴To look within is but to find my will as God created it, and as it is. ⁵I fear to look within because I think I made another will that is not true, and made it real. ⁶Yet it has no effects. ⁷Within me is the Holiness of God. ⁸Within me is the memory of Him.

The step I take today, my Father, is my sure release from idle dreams of sin. ²Your altar stands serene and undefiled. ³It is the holy altar to my Self, and there I find my true Identity. (A Course in Miracles, W-309. See also ACIM Lesson 309 Insights.)

The ego is afraid to look within. It is afraid that we will remember that we are Love and nothing else. This is why guilt is so important to the ego. As long as we believe that we are guilty for anything, we will be afraid to look at what we think is the cause for guilt. The ego tells us if we look within, we will see that cause and be so repelled by it that we must avoid seeing it at all cost.

But there is no real cause for guilt. We remain Love as Love created us. When we look within, with the Holy Spirit’s help, we will see past the ego’s clouds to the brilliant Light of Love that is our true Self.

We are thankful that nothing can change what God created one with Himself. Nothing but God and His extension exists. His Love and joy are ours. We give thanks that this is so.

We Are Grateful for Our Father’s Love

In fearlessness and love I spend today.

This day, my Father, would I spend with You, as You have chosen all my days should be. ²And what I will experience is not of time at all. ³The joy that comes to me is not of days nor hours, for it comes from Heaven to Your Son. ⁴This day will be Your sweet reminder to remember You, Your gracious calling to Your holy Son, the sign Your grace has come to me, and that it is Your Will I be set free today.

We spend this day together, you and I. ²And all the world joins with us in our song of thankfulness and joy to Him Who gave salvation to us, and Who set us free. ³We are restored to peace and holiness. ⁴There is no room in us for fear today, for we have welcomed love into our hearts. (A Course in Miracles, W-310. See also ACIM Lesson 310 Insights.)

Each time we truly forgive, we welcome Love into our hearts. Judgment is the ego’s primary defense against Love. By the grace of God, we can never make the ego our real Identity.

Today we ask our Inner Teacher for help to disown the ego. It has never provided anything of value. It has only interfered with our awareness of Love by offering appealing trinkets as substitutes. We want to learn to recognize the ego’s offerings are nothing we want. As we let them go, we welcome God’s Love. We gratefully remember we are His Son whom He loves without limit.

A Practice That Awakens Us to Love

You who believed that God’s Last Judgment would condemn the world to hell along with you, accept this holy truth: God’s Judgment is the gift of the Correction He bestowed on all your errors, freeing you from them, and all effects they ever seemed to have. ²To fear God’s saving grace is but to fear complete release from suffering, return to peace, security and happiness, and union with your own Identity.

²Be not afraid of love. ³For it alone can heal all sorrow, wipe away all tears, and gently waken from his dream of pain the Son whom God acknowledges as His.

This is God’s Final Judgment: “You are still My holy Son, forever innocent, forever loving and forever loved, as limitless as your Creator, and completely changeless and forever pure. ²Therefore awaken and return to Me. ³I am your Father and you are My Son.” (A Course in Miracles, W-pII.10.3;4:2-3;5)

The ego is afraid of Love; the thought of separation disappears in the oneness of Love. Our singular purpose in this world is to awaken to the Love in which we were created and that we were created to be.

We need to learn to recognize the ego thought system’s barriers established to keep it safe from Love. Every judgment the ego makes reinforces the seeming reality of separation. It fears its own judgments and attempts to hide from them by judging others. But all its judgments merely reflect the judgments the ego has placed on the Self God created as Love, united with Himself.

Today is a good day to practice being aware of our judgments. We practice taking these judgments to the Holy Spirit for His help to see the call for Love behind the judgments. With His help we offer Love in answer to the call. With this practice we will awaken to the Love we are.
