Remembering We Are One with God

Christ is God’s Son as He created Him. ²He is the Self we share, uniting us with one another, and with God as well. ³He is the Thought which still abides within the Mind that is His Source. ⁴He has not left His holy home, nor lost the innocence in which He was created. ⁵He abides unchanged forever in the Mind of God.

Christ is the link that keeps you one with God, and guarantees that separation is no more than an illusion of despair, for hope forever will abide in Him. ²Your mind is part of His, and His of yours. ³He is the part in which God’s Answer lies; where all decisions are already made, and dreams are over. ⁴He remains untouched by anything the body’s eyes perceive. ⁵For though in Him His Father placed the means for your salvation, yet does He remain the Self Who, like His Father, knows no sin.

Home of the Holy Spirit, and at home in God alone, does Christ remain at peace within the Heaven of your holy mind. ²This is the only part of you that has reality in truth. ³The rest is dreams. ⁴Yet will these dreams be given unto Christ, to fade before His glory and reveal your holy Self, the Christ, to you at last. Remembering our true Self is remembering Christ. He is not limited to any body. We do not experience ourselves as the Christ because we have sworn allegiance to the ego, the thought system which wanted separation to be real. We want to have private thoughts. But this is not possible for the part of our mind that is forever united with its Creator.

Today we choose to step back from our allegiance to the ego. We want the peace of God. We want the happiness that is our inheritance.

Choosing the Peace of God

³God’s peace can never come where anger is, for anger must deny that peace exists. ⁴Who sees anger as justified in any way or any circumstance proclaims that peace is meaningless, and must believe that it cannot exist. ⁵In this condition, peace cannot be found. ⁶Therefore, forgiveness is the necessary condition for finding the peace of God. ⁷More than this, given forgiveness there must be peace. ⁸For what except attack will lead to war? ⁹And what but peace is opposite to war? ¹⁰Here the initial contrast stands out clear and apparent. ¹¹Yet when peace is found, the war is meaningless. ¹²And it is conflict now that is perceived as nonexistent and unreal.

⁷Forgive the world, and you will understand that everything that God created cannot have an end, and nothing He did not create is real.

⁵In truth there was no conflict, for His Will is yours. ⁶Now is the mighty Will of God Himself His gift to you. …⁹The Will of God is One and all there is. ¹⁰This is your heritage. …¹²God’s peace is the condition for His Will. ¹³Attain His peace, and you remember Him. (A Course in Miracles, M-20.3:3-12;5:7;6:5-6,9-10,12-13)

Whenever our peace of mind is disturbed, we can ask ourselves, “Do I want to keep this perception, or do I want the peace of God?” The choice is between maintaining guilt or forgiving the perception — letting it go.

The Holy Spirit is always present to help us let go of the guilt that is the cause of all fear and anger. When we forgive, the appearance of conflict disappears. Peace returns to the mind that thought it was alone and separate. We remember God’s Will is ours. We remember we are His Love.

Letting God’s Love Replace the Void We Feel

How can illusions satisfy God’s Son?

Father, the truth belongs to me. ²My home is set in Heaven by Your Will and mine. ³Can dreams content me? ⁴Can illusions bring me happiness? ⁵What but Your memory can satisfy Your Son? ⁶I will accept no less than You have given me. ⁷I am surrounded by Your Love, forever still, forever gentle and forever safe. ⁸God’s Son must be as You created him.

Today we pass illusions by. ²And if we hear temptation call to us to stay and linger in a dream, we turn aside and ask ourselves if we, the Sons of God, could be content with dreams, when Heaven can be chosen just as easily as hell, and love will happily replace all fear. In the dream of separation, a feeling of dissatisfaction, a sense that something is missing, is endemic. The ego sends us on countless search missions guaranteed not to succeed. That “something” that seems to be missing is the Love of God the dream denies. All the dream can offer is forms of specialness as a substitute for Love.

These forms never satisfy, for they contain no reality. Only God’s Love is real. Only our acceptance of His Love will fill the void we feel. Yet this void is a lie. No matter what we have taught ourselves to the contrary, God’s Love is real and ours, now and forever. In His Love, we find the peace we believe we lost; we know our safety in the changelessness of His Love.

God’s Gift of His Love Is Eternal

My sinlessness protects me from all harm.

My sinlessness ensures me perfect peace, eternal safety, everlasting love, freedom forever from all thought of loss; complete deliverance from suffering. ²And only happiness can be my state, for only happiness is given me. ³What must I do to know all this is mine? ⁴I must accept Atonement for myself, and nothing more. ⁵God has already done all things that need be done. ⁶And I must learn I need do nothing of myself, for I need but accept my Self, my sinlessness, created for me, now already mine, to feel God’s Love protecting me from harm, to understand my Father loves His Son; to know I am the Son my Father loves.

You Who created me in sinlessness are not mistaken about what I am. ²I was mistaken when I thought I sinned, but I accept Atonement for myself. ³Father, my dream is ended now. ⁴Amen. (A Course in Miracles, W-337. See also ACIM Lesson 337 Insights.)

The dream of separation requires constant maintenance. Our time in the dream is cluttered with myriad activities requiring physical or mental activity. This is the doing we must be willing to stop. This is what the Course means when it says we need do nothing. As this lesson points out, all that ever needed to be done was done by God when He created His Son.

The purpose of what the ego directs us to do is to maintain the veil of separation. The ego is afraid of peace. It directs us on countless searches for nothingness in a form it tells us has value. We seek for special friendships, special trinkets, special possessions and celebrate special times in the life of the body. These are all searches to misdirect our attention away from our Source of happiness.

The practice of quieting our minds to let the peace of God within come forth is how we let go of our busy doing. This makes way for us to accept what God has already done. In this acceptance we remember the Love He gave us eternally. We remember our innocence because no harm can come from the gift of Love from God. Our sinlessness is an attribute of Love’s eternal oneness. In this changelessness, we are safe.

Claiming Our True Self’s Reality

Dwell not upon the past today. ²Keep a completely open mind, washed of all past ideas and clean of every concept you have made. ³You have forgiven the world today. ⁴You can look upon it now as if you never saw it before. ⁵You do not know yet what it looks like. ⁶You merely wait to have it shown to you. ⁷While you wait, repeat several times, slowly and in complete patience:

⁸The light has come. ⁹I have forgiven the world.

Realize that your forgiveness entitles you to vision. ²Understand that the Holy Spirit never fails to give the gift of sight to the forgiving. ³Believe He will not fail you now. ⁴You have forgiven the world. ⁵He will be with you as you watch and wait. ⁶He will show you what true vision sees. ⁷It is His Will, and you have joined with Him. ⁸Wait patiently for Him. ⁹He will be there. ¹⁰The light has come. ¹¹You have forgiven the world.

We dedicate this day to the serenity in which God would have you be. ²Keep it in your awareness of yourself and see it everywhere today, as we celebrate the beginning of your vision and the sight of the real world, which has come to replace the unforgiven world you thought was real. When we experience fear, anger or guilt, it does not seem that we have forgiven the world. Only in the dream of separation does there seem to be a past that needs to be forgiven. Our true Self knows that nothing has happened to change God’s one Son, forever united with Him. This is our only Reality.

Time is part of the illusion; there is no past. This is why we can honestly claim that we have forgiven the world now. As we assure ourselves of this fact, we are claiming the Reality of our true Self and disowning the ego thought system of separation. By accepting that the Light has come, we are welcoming the vision that sees nothing has changed the Love we are. We remain safe in our oneness with God.

Seeing Beyond the Body to Our True Self

I bless the world because I bless myself.

²God’s blessing shines upon me from within my heart, where He abides. ³I need but turn to Him, and every sorrow melts away, as I accept His boundless Love for me.

²I will be still, and let the earth be still along with me. ³And in that stillness we will find the peace of God. ⁴It is within my heart, which witnesses to God Himself.

⁵I am not a body. ⁶I am free.
⁷For I am still as God created me. (A Course in Miracles, W-207.1;208.1:2-7. See also ACIM Lesson 207 Insights.)

The wish for specialness requires that we perceive everyone and everything in the world as different from what we are. But this perception can only seem to be real in illusions. Within the dream of separateness, the idea that we bless the world when we bless ourselves seems impossible.

The Course is teaching us that our Reality is the opposite of our perceptions in the dream. The oneness of Love unites us with every brother and our Creator. This is why we bless the world when we bless our Self. There is no separation. We are one Self, united with our Creator. This is why it is important that we remind ourselves that we are not a body. It is an image made to make separation seem real.

Beyond that image is the Love we are. Love has no form; It is not limited by time or space. As we let go of body identification, we free ourselves to experience the joy and peace of the Love we are. Today we call upon the Holy Spirit for His help to learn this important lesson.

We Are Never Alone

God’s healing Voice protects all things today.

Let us today attend the Voice for God, which speaks an ancient lesson, no more true today than any other day. ²Yet has this day been chosen as the time when we will seek and hear and learn and understand. ³Join me in hearing. ⁴For the Voice for God tells us of things we cannot understand alone, nor learn apart. ⁵It is in this that all things are protected. ⁶And in this the healing of the Voice for God is found.

Your healing Voice protects all things today, and so I leave all things to You. ²I need be anxious over nothing. ³For Your Voice will tell me what to do and where to go; to whom to speak and what to say to him, what thoughts to think, what words to give the world. ⁴The safety that I bring is given me. ⁵Father, Your Voice protects all things through me. We are never alone. This is the message God’s Voice offers us. It assures us of our safety, comfort, happiness and peace. When we are willing to listen and learn, the wish to be special and alone us undone.

The ego clutters our mind with complications. These complications seem to be beyond the interest of the Holy Spirit to help. How could He know what to do when there seems to be a software glitch with our phone? But every situation is a learning opportunity if we are willing to listen to God’s Voice. We are not alone. This is the lesson every moment offers us through His Voice.

Today we take comfort knowing that His Voice guides us in the details of our life. It leads us to remembering that we are joined forever in the oneness of God’s Love.
