Appreciation of Our Brothers

Only appreciation is an appropriate response to your brother. Gratitude is due him for both his loving thoughts and his appeals for help, for both are capable of bringing love into your awareness if you perceive them truly. …Do not attempt to “help” a brother in your way, for you cannot help yourself. But hear his call for the Help of God, and you will recognize your own need for the Father.” (A Course in Miracles T-12.6:1-2,10-11)

When we perceive a brother truly, we see that he is Love. We see that we are continuous with the Father. When we see a brother through the eyes of the ego, we see differences and separation. The ego’s interpretation always seeks to separate and divide. It always looks for conflict.

Our opportunity for today is to notice which guide we have chosen for interpretation. Lack of peace always comes when we choose the ego as our guide. But when we choose the Holy Spirit as our Guide, we feel only appreciation for the Love our brother is. Holy Spirit shows us the Light of Love that lies beyond the stories. We are grateful for Holy Spirit’s loving Help.
