It’s Time to Claim Our Birthright

The hush of Heaven holds my heart today.

Father, how still today! ²How quietly do all things fall in place! ³This is the day that has been chosen as the time in which I come to understand the lesson that there is no need that I do anything. ⁴In You is every choice already made. ⁵In You has every conflict been resolved. ⁶In You is everything I hope to find already given me. ⁷Your peace is mine. ⁸My heart is quiet, and my mind at rest. ⁹Your Love is Heaven, and Your Love is mine.

The stillness of today will give us hope that we have found the way, and travelled far along it to a wholly certain goal. ²Today we will not doubt the end which God Himself has promised us. ³We trust in Him, and in our Self, Who still is one with Him. Today is a day to claim our birthright. Heaven is ours, now. Peace, a heart that is quiet, and a mind at rest was given us in our creation. Everything God is we have and are. There is no conflict in the place where we live and have our being.

We do not experience our true Home because we have disowned our birthright. But we can reclaim it through forgiving the mistaken wish to claim anything for our self alone. Only in a dream divided into separate parts can this wish seem achievable.

Today we open our mind to receive the Holy Spirit’s healing perceptions. We welcome peace and let our mind be clear to receive His inspiration. We will be healed as we let Him teach us to heal.

Stepping Toward Our True Identity

My true Identity abides in You.

Father, I made an image of myself, and it is this I call the Son of God. ²Yet is creation as it always was, for Your creation is unchangeable. ³Let me not worship idols. ⁴I am he my Father loves. ⁵My holiness remains the light of Heaven and the Love of God. ⁶Is not what is beloved of You secure? ⁷Is not the light of Heaven infinite? ⁸Is not Your Son my true Identity, when You created everything that is?

Now are we one in shared Identity, with God our Father as our only Source, and everything created part of us. ²And so we offer blessing to all things, uniting lovingly with all the world, which our forgiveness has made one with us. (A Course in Miracles, W-283. See also ACIM Lesson 283 Insights.)

Our world seems to be divided into myriad forms. It is impossible to unite these forms. But we can unite with the world of Love. This is what we are called to do by forgiving our wish to be different, to have anything that we can keep for ourselves alone. This is the only barrier that stands between the identity that we believe we are and the full knowledge of our Identity, united with the oneness of God’s Love.

Today we focus on our only meaningful function. We ask the Holy Spirit to help us correct our misperceptions of differences. We want to remember the Love we are, along with every brother, united in God’s Love. As we accept His help, we walk with lightened steps, joyous in the awareness that we are Love, loved and loving. Each step takes us closer to acceptance of our true Identity.

Accepting the Help of Our Best Friend

Anything in this world that you believe is good and valuable and worth striving for can hurt you, and will do so. ²Not because it has the power to hurt, but just because you have denied it is but an illusion, and made it real. ³And it is real to you. ⁴It is not nothing. ⁵And through its perceived reality has entered all the world of sick illusions. ⁶All belief in sin, in power of attack, in hurt and harm, in sacrifice and death, has come to you. ⁷For no one can make one illusion real, and still escape the rest. ⁸For who can choose to keep the ones that he prefers, and find the safety that the truth alone can give? ⁹Who can believe illusions are the same, and still maintain that even one is best?

⁵Without [the Holy Spirit] you are friendless. ⁶Seek not another friend to take His place. ⁷There is no other friend. ⁸What God appointed has no substitute, for what illusion can replace the truth?

³Make no illusion friend, for if you do, it can but take the place of Him Whom God has called your Friend. ⁴And it is He Who is your only Friend in truth. ⁵He brings you gifts that are not of this world, and only He to Whom they have been given can make sure that you receive them. ⁶He will place them on your throne, when you make room for Him on His. The world seems very real to us because we have identified our self with a body. It is the central figure in the dream. It is carefully constructed to filter out the reality of Love’s oneness. The body can only focus on form, which can never be real. What is perceived through the body’s senses are other forms that seem to confirm the reality of the physical universe.

Fortunately we have a Friend in our mind Who does not believe anything the body perceives. He knows us as pure Love. He knows we are forever united with our Creator. He brings us to the truth of What and where we are — held wholly in the eternal Love of God. When we are willing to hear His Voice, He leads us to let go of the false images that have given us nothing but fear and guilt. He is our best Friend because He offers us only the truth, which sets us free.

Today we welcome His help to guide us to acceptance of our true Identity as God’s Son.

Our Opportunities to Heal Our World

God is the only goal I have today.

The way to God is through forgiveness here. ²There is no other way. ³If sin had not been cherished by the mind, what need would there have been to find the way to where you are? ⁴Who would still be uncertain? ⁵Who could be unsure of who he is? ⁶And who would yet remain asleep, in heavy clouds of doubt about the holiness of him whom God created sinless? ⁷Here we can but dream. ⁸But we can dream we have forgiven him in whom all sin remains impossible, and it is this we choose to dream today. ⁹God is our goal; forgiveness is the means by which our minds return to Him at last.

And so, our Father, would we come to You in Your appointed way. ²We have no goal except to hear Your Voice, and find the way Your sacred Word has pointed out to us. (A Course in Miracles, W-256. See also ACIM Lesson 256 Insights.)

Today and every day offers opportunities to heal. The only question is whether or not we will accept the opportunity. If we are following the ego’s plan, we will overlook the opportunities. Instead our thoughts and actions will reinforce our sense of lack of Love. This misperception is the basis for all illness.

Every apprehension, sadness, fear, guilt or anger stems from the wish not to accept the all-inclusive oneness of God’s Love. But these misperceptions can be recognized as a sign of our need to forgive. If that recognition is followed by a willingness to accept the Holy Spirit’s help, we can seize the opportunity to heal. The opportunity to give ourselves the gift of healing is offered in every instant.

Today we can join in a shared commitment to seize the opportunities to bring healing to the world. We choose to forgive and remember we are Love and nothing else.

God’s Holiness Is Ours

Truth answers every call we make to God,
responding first with miracles, and then
returning unto us to be itself.

Forgiveness, truth’s reflection, tells me how to offer miracles, and thus escape the prison house in which I think I live. ²Your holy Son is pointed out to me, first in my brother; then in me. ³Your Voice instructs me patiently to hear Your Word, and give as I receive. ⁴And as I look upon Your Son today, I hear Your Voice instructing me to find the way to You, as You appointed that the way shall be:

⁵Behold his sinlessness, and be you healed. (A Course in Miracles, W-357. See also ACIM Lesson 357 Insights.)

Forgiveness opens our mind to accept the truth. It appears in this world as a miracle because what was perceived as sinful has been dismissed as nothing and the eternal presence of holiness is recognized. Truth heals all errors in our minds.

The Holy Spirit is always patiently offering us the truth. It is patient because It knows only the truth is real. Our true Self, the Son of God, cannot be harmed or changed at all. It shares God’s holiness.

Today we are willing to hear God’s Voice remind us that we remain as He created us, holy and complete.

We Are Limitless Love

Whom God created limitless is free. ²I can invent imprisonment for him, but only in illusions, not in truth. ³No Thought of God has left its Father’s Mind. ⁴No Thought of God is limited at all. ⁵No Thought of God but is forever pure. ⁶Can I lay limits on the Son of God, whose Father willed that he be limitless, and like Himself in freedom and in love?

Today let me give honor to Your Son, for thus alone I find the way to You. ²Father, I lay no limits on the Son You love and You created limitless. ³The honor that I give to him is Yours, and what is Yours belongs to me as well. (A Course in Miracles, W-280.1–2. See also ACIM Lesson 280 Insights.)

Limitations seem to be a fact of life. Some of us try to push the limits of what the body can do. Others feel depressed because of what they believe they cannot do. But neither attitude is focused on solving our only problem. We need to awaken to the fact that we have no limits on our Reality; the Love we are knows no limits.

Today we choose to look upon a different world. We set aside our beliefs that tell us Love is limited and fear justified. We welcome Christ’s vision which shows us the presence of Love everywhere, beyond every appearance, and every belief and limitation.

We are limitless Love. This is our true nature. We yield to our true Nature as God’s extension of His Love. We are willing to give up illusions of limitation and accept that we are God’s Creation, forever one in His Love.

We Let Love Guide Us Today

I will not be afraid of love today.

If I could realize but this today, salvation would be reached for all the world. ²This the decision not to be insane, and to accept myself as God Himself, my Father and my Source, created me. ³This the determination not to be asleep in dreams of death, while truth remains forever living in the joy of love. ⁴And this the choice to recognize the Self Whom God created as the Son He loves, and Who remains my one Identity.

Father, Your Name is Love and so is mine. ²Such is the truth. ³And can the truth be changed by merely giving it another name? ⁴The name of fear is simply a mistake. ⁵Let me not be afraid of truth today. (A Course in Miracles, W-282. See also ACIM Lesson 282 Insights.)

Our identity is Love. It is our only real identity. We have made up a different identity that is afraid of our true Identity. This identity dreams of a life in fear. It populates this dream with separate identities that seem to threaten its life — from micro-organisms to competing personalities to atomic bombs. It is indeed a dream that fears the truth. It fills this dream with all these images to make the dream seem real and hide the truth.

We can awaken from this fearful dream by forgiving the wish for specialness that supports the dream. Within the dream, forgiveness allows God’s Love to be reflected in the dream. We are always free to accept our true Identity as God’s Son, His extension of His Love.

We are Love and nothing else. Today we welcome Love as our Guide. It will help us see beyond the images of the dream to the oneness that is our Self. The dream will fade as we accept the Reality that we are only Love.

This acceptance is reflected in the dream by receiving and giving Love. Love becomes our motivation. Our true desire is to extend Love and answer calls for Love with Love. Love judges only between the reality of Love and the recognition of calls for Love. Its response to either is Love. Today we will listen to Love as our Guide.
