Choosing the Path to Healing

You see what you expect, and you expect what you invite. Your perception is the result of your invitation, coming to you as you sent for it. Whose manifestations would you see? Of whose presence would you be convinced? For you will believe in what you manifest, and as you look out so will you see in. Two ways of looking at the world are in your mind, and your perception will reflect the guidance you have chosen.

When you want only love you will see nothing else.

The power of decision is your one remaining freedom as a prisoner of this world. You can decide to see it right. What you made of it is not its reality, for its reality is only what you gave it. You cannot really give anything but love to anyone or anything, nor can you really receive anything but love from them. If you think you have received anything else, it is because you have looked within and thought you saw the power to give something else within yourself. It was only this decision that determined what you found, for it was the decision for what you sought. (A Course in Miracles, T-12.VII.5;8:1;9. See also ACIM Text Q & A.)

It seems hard to believe that the world we see is there by our invitation. We invite it by identifying with the ego. When we accept the ego thought system as our own, all of its wild imaginings seem to be ours.

The core destructive aspect of the ego thought system is its wish for death, its wish to be separate from the Source of Life. All the seeming pleasant aspects of the world’s appearance are just camouflage for the underlying ego wish for separation and death. But this underlying wish still shows up in all the appearances of destruction in the world.

The means to release ourselves from the prison of the ego thought system is forgiveness. If we choose the Holy Spirit as our Guide in all our decisions, all our perceptions, we loosen the chains of the belief in fear. The Holy Spirit will always lead us to healing. The ego will always lead us to the appearance of death. We can choose the path to healing and release by choosing the Holy Spirit as our Guide.

Accepting God’s Strength as Ours

God is my strength. Vision is His gift.

You will see because it is the Will of God. It is His strength, not your own, that gives you power. And it is His gift, rather than your own, that offers vision to you.

God is indeed your strength, and what He gives is truly given. This means that you can receive it any time and anywhere, wherever you are, and in whatever circumstance you find yourself. Your passage through time and space is not at random. You cannot but be in the right place at the right time. Such is the strength of God. Such are His gifts. God is our strength. We can do anything that is God’s (our) Will. Seeing the face of Christ in all our brothers is our natural ability. It is easy to see innocence because God gave us the ability to see it.

God’s strength is always available to help us see. Whenever we are in fear, we can always call on God’s strength in us to help us see Love. The vision given us by God shows us innocence and nothing else. With the vision given by God, we see past judgment to Love.

Letting God’s Joy Fill Our Hearts

God’s is the only Will. When you have recognized this, you have recognized that your will is His. The belief that conflict is possible has gone. Peace has replaced the strange idea that you are torn by conflicting goals. As an expression of the Will of God, you have no goal but His.

Without illusions conflict is impossible. Let us try to recognize this today, and experience the peace this recognition brings.

There is no will but God’s. I cannot be in conflict.

I am at peace.
Nothing can disturb me. My will is God’s.
My will and God’s are one.
God wills peace for His Son.

There is no will but God’s. …conflict
thoughts are meaningless.

There is no will but God’s. I share it with Him.
My conflicts about _____ cannot be real.

What if all that we experience is the continuous flow of Love — giving and receiving, receiving and giving? There could be no conflict in this experience, only the limitless joy of the constant flow of Love. The Love that we are would freely join with Love everywhere, in everyone. This is our natural state.

We do not experience the constant flow of Love because we believe we have a will apart from God. This belief introduces conflict. Peace and joy disappear.

But we are not lost forever in this illusion of a separate will. We can let go of the mistaken belief that we have a will in opposition to God’s. We need only be willing to accept that the appearance of conflict is not real. This opens the door for the Holy Spirit to remind us of the truth that we share the Will of Love in perfect oneness and perfect peace.

Today we will be vigilant to let the Holy Spirit interpret all that we perceive on our behalf. He will teach us that all conflict is meaningless and God’s joy will fill our hearts.

Accepting Perfect Happiness

My present happiness is all I see.

With this resolve I come to You, and ask Your strength to hold me up today, while I but seek to do Your Will. You cannot fail to hear me, Father. What I ask have You already given me. And I am sure that I will see my happiness today. (A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson 290, W-pII.290.2. See also ACIM Lesson 290 Insights.)

There is only one thing we need to do today to make us happy. We need to do God’s Will because His Will is our will. This is the only way to be happy. The ego’s plan for happiness is actually to short circuit happiness because it is the denial of God and therefore the denial of our true Will.

We dedicate today to following our true Will and accepting God’s strength as ours. It is through the strength of God in us that we do what is given to us to do to bring happiness to the world. We are not on our own. We are united with the Source of all strength, the Source of Love, the Source of happiness.

Today we accept God’s Will for our perfect happiness.

We Receive the Truth from Holy Spirit Today

The power of decision is our own. And we accept of Him that which we are, and humbly recognize the Son of God. To recognize God’s Son implies as well that all self-concepts have been laid aside, and recognized as false. Their arrogance has been perceived. And in humility the radiance of God’s Son, his gentleness, his perfect sinlessness, his Father’s Love, his right to Heaven and release from hell, are joyously accepted as our own.

Now do we join in glad acknowledgment that lies are false, and only truth is true. We think of truth alone…, encouraging our frightened minds with this:

The power of decision is my own.
This day I will accept myself as what
my Father’s Will created me to be.

Then will we wait in silence, giving up all self-deceptions, as we humbly ask our Self that He reveal Himself to us. And He Who never left will come again to our awareness, grateful to restore His home to God, as it was meant to be. (A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson 152, W-pI.152.10-11. Today we allow time to let the Holy Spirit bring us to the truth… We let the Light of Truth shine in our minds and let Truth’s peace fill our awareness… It is worth the effort.

What we receive is beyond words to describe… What we receive is the knowing that all is well because we never left the will of God in truth… We feel God’s innate happiness and eternal peace… We realize that we are all so blessed and that there is nothing to fear… We are filled with gratitude as we allow the truth to be returned to our minds by the Holy Spirit today.

Accepting Holy Spirit’s Purity

The reason why this course is simple, is that truth is simple. Complexity is of the ego, and is nothing more than the ego’s attempt to obscure the obvious. …The holy instant is a time in which you receive and give perfect communication. This means, however, that it is a time in which your mind is open, both to receive and give. It is the recognition that all minds are in communication. It therefore seeks to change nothing, but merely to accept everything.

Every thought you would keep hidden shuts communication off, because you would have it so.

The necessary condition for the holy instant does not require that you have no thoughts that are not pure. But it does require that you have none that you would keep. Innocence is not of your making. It is given you the instant you would have it. Atonement would not be if there were no need for it. You will not be able to accept perfect communication as long as you would hide it from yourself. For what you would hide is hidden. In your practice, then, try only to be vigilant against deception, and seek not to protect the thoughts you would keep to yourself. Let the Holy Spirit’s purity shine them away, and bring all your awareness to the readiness for purity He offers you. Thus will He make you ready to acknowledge that you are host to God, and hostage to no one and to nothing. (A Course in Miracles, T-15.IV.6:1-2,5-8;8:1;9:1-10. See also ACIM Text Q & A.)

The Holy Spirit is always there in our minds to help us undo our belief in separation. Belief in separation is the barrier that denies we are one with our Father.

As we are willing to forgive, or let go of the false belief in separation from our Father, we see that every brother is one with us in truth. We see that all differences are inherently false. We see that we are perfect Love and nothing else.

We are gently being freed from all thoughts of littleness and differences as we let the Holy Spirit shine away these false thoughts minute by minute, day by day. In truth every brother is host to God as we are. In truth we are one Light and we have one Life, the Life we live in God. All this comes with opening to Holy Spirit’s healing Light.

This is our practice for today.

We Remain Love and Joy as We Were Created

…pain is purposeless, without a cause and with no power to accomplish anything. It cannot purchase anything at all. It offers nothing, and does not exist. And everything you think it offers you is lacking in existence, like itself. You have been slave to nothing. Be you free today to join the happy Will of God.

Here is your home, and here your safety is. Here is your peace, and here there is no fear. Here is salvation. Here is rest at last.

I share God’s Will for happiness for me, and
I accept it as my function now.

Then seek this function deep within your mind, for it is there, awaiting but your choice. You cannot fail to find it when you learn it is your choice, and that you share God’s Will.

Be happy, for your only function here is happiness. (A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson 102, W-pI.102.2:1-5;3:2-5;4:2-4;5:1. See also ACIM Lesson 102 Insights.)

It could be said that to be happy is to be Love, for joy is an attribute of Love. Of course God’s Will for us is perfect happiness because God is Love and joy is part of Love. God gave all of Himself to His Creation and so His Creation shares all of His joy. Being His Creation, our function must be to be happy as our Creator is.

If we are not experiencing perfect happiness, we are suffering under a misunderstanding of What we are. We need a correction in our mind to return understanding to our awareness that we are only Love as our Creator is. To fulfill our function of sharing God’s joy, we need to remind ourselves frequently to accept God’s Will for us and be willing to have our misunderstanding corrected. This is another way of saying that we need to accept the Holy Spirit’s help to forgive ourselves for believing we disconnected from God’s Love. In truth, we remain Love and joy as we were created.
