A Gift I Give Myself

There is no greater gift I can give myself than to take the time to open my mind to Holy Spirit’s inspiration. I open my mind to receive by accepting peace. For me this means sitting quietly and setting aside the stream of thoughts about the world that flow through my mind.

Sometimes I am able to quickly quiet my mind. Sometimes I observe that I have grabbed onto one of those thoughts and followed it onto a detour that leads away from peace. As soon as I recognize I’m on the detour, I let it go and return my focus on letting my mind quiet and once again accept peace. I may need to do this several times. But with vigilance, my mind quiets and I relax into deepening peace

The stream of thoughts of the world yields to inspiring thoughts that remind me of what is true. They help me look past the images of the world that seem to confirm that I am separate. I am helped to see the loving essence that is everywhere beyond the images. If a situation or relationship has been disturbing, I am helped to see the call for Love from the other, me or both that the disturbance represents. This time is a time that helps me learn the most important lesson of all: I am not a body. I am free. I am still as God created me.

My practice for today is to relax and follow… Relax and follow… Relax and follow… I see that this takes constant practice… consistent practice… Stepping back and listening to the inspiration of the Holy Spirit in the present moment is my one focus for today.

Accept Changeless Peace

The changeless of Heaven is in you, so deep within that nothing in this world but passes by, unnoticed and unseen. The still infinity of endless peace surrounds you gently in its soft embrace, so strong and quiet, tranquil in the might of its Creator, nothing an intrude upon the sacred Son of God within. …

Nothing is asked of you but to accept the changeless and eternal that abide in [your brother], for your Identity is there. The peace in you can but be found in him. And every thought of Love you offer Him but brings you nearer to your waking to peace eternal and to endless joy. (A Course in Miracles T-29.V.2:3-4, 3:3-5)

When I am willing to see through the Holy Spirit’s eyes, I am led to pass by the story to see the deep peace that resides within everyone. At their core, everyone is the same peace, because everyone is the same sacred Son of God. Remembering this is my practice for today. I will get feedback in how my practice is going by the level of peace I feel in each moment. Nothing is more important than this practice because it is how I am led to wake up from the dream.

I appreciate the reminder that there is a center of peace within that never can be disturbed. It is always with me whether or not I am aware of it. It is an eternal resource that I can turn to in any moment that I feel unsettled. This center of peace is the truth in me. Any disturbance comes from believing that I am something else. I am grateful that belief cannot change truth, though it can make truth invisible to me. The practice of monitoring my level of peace helps me open the door to the truth of What I am. This is my practice today.

God’s Son Is One

Where am I placing my trust? When I am trusting in a self-made image that seems to stand alone, fear and uncertainty are inevitable. But when I am trusting in the Self created by Love, I have a sense of certain safety and peace. The contrast between the two experiences makes it very clear that it is in my best interest to let go of the self-made image.

I really want to remember that I am the Self that Love created. I really want to remember that I share that one Self with everyone. So today I ask the Holy Spirit to help me recognize that Self in everyone and thereby learn What I am. This is my focus today.

God’s Son is one. Love extends only Love. And because we all are only Love, anything that appears to be different from Love is only an illusion. Today my practice is to see illusions for what they are and let my true Self show me the Love that is behind every illusion. This practice brings me peace. This practice brings me joy.

How Can I Serve?

I serve Holy Spirit’s plan when my focus is on letting go and letting God. I serve Holy Spirit’s plan when I remember to step back and listen, instead of thinking I know something on my own. I serve Holy Spirit’s plan when I let go of the struggle and let myself be carried.

Holy Spirit is always there when I am willing to stop and pay attention to my inner Teacher. The Holy Spirit leads me to a total thought reversal as I am open and willing to receive inspiration. The Holy Spirit shows me the Light of God in everyone. The Holy Spirit brings me the feeling of deep peace and the knowing that the whole Sonship is still safe in God’s one united Mind of Love.

My practice for today is to continue to step back and listen… step back and follow… This is how I serve Holy Spirit’s plan of awaking up from the dream of separation.

How I view everything in my world teaches me what I am. If I follow the thought system of separation, I will see everything as separate and teach myself that I am separate. If I choose to follow the Holy Spirit’s thought system, I will see everything as extensions of the one Light of God and thus teach myself that I am an extension of God’s Light.

I serve the world by being vigilant to keep my focus on the Holy Spirit’s thought system and thereby teach the world and myself that we are one in God’s Light. This is my vigilance for today.

Stay in Your Center of Peace

Look at your brother from your center of peace. From here you can see the truth in him. You are not fooled by the appearance of a body because you are seeing with the eyes of Christ. In your center of peace, you remember the Love you are and you see Love reflected back to you everywhere.

Practice today staying in your center of peace. Nothing can disturb you here. You are secure in the strength given you by God. Walk you in peace today and see your Light reflected back to you everywhere. It will teach you that you are not alone, never were alone nor could ever be alone. Accept this lesson today.

Accepting my center of peace comes naturally when I am willing to relax and listen to the thoughts of my inner Teacher. In truth everyone in this world is still as God created them. Nothing has happened to change God’s one Son. I am reminded to see the truth of oneness instead of the illusions of separation when in quietness I listen to my inner Teacher. I have an Interpreter Who cannot fail. I stay in my center of peace when I consistently listen to the wisdom of my inner Teacher.

Accepting Peace Now

The communication link that God Himself placed within you, joining your mind with His, cannot be broken. You may believe you want it broken, and this belief does interfere with the deep peace in which the sweet and constant communication God would share with you is known. Yet His channels of reaching out cannot be wholly closed and separated from Him. Peace will be yours because His peace still flows to you from Him Whose Will is peace. You have it now. The Holy Spirit will teach you how to use [peace], and by extending it, to learn that it is in you. (A Course in MiraclesT-13.XI.8:1-6)

It is helpful for me to remember that I can accept God’s peace and extend God’s peace with willingness. Peace is already mine. Peace belongs to everyone because everyone is in God’s peace and of God’s peace.

Today my focus is on accepting the peace that is already there in my mind, waiting for me to accept it and extend it. As I am willing to focus on peace, everything that is not of peace disappears. I see that the Light and Love of the Holy Spirit are everywhere. It can be felt and seen as I am willing to keep the communication channels open. What happiness this practice brings! What an opportunity I have today. We are all truly blessed with God’s peace.

I don’t have to do anything to earn peace. I don’t have to do anything to get peace. God has already given His peace to everyone. But to experience this peace that is already mine, I need to let go of the barriers I have made that keep it unknown to me.

It’s really quite simple. Judgment blocks awareness of God and the oneness in which I remain in truth. Peace returns to my awareness when I let go of judgment. This is why forgiveness is the central theme of ACIM. It is the key to happiness and peace.

Once again, today is a day for the happy practice of turning over all judgments to the Holy Spirit to let Him judge on my behalf. This is how every moment becomes a lesson in awakening. I am willing to practice today.

Holy Spirit’s Lessons

Let us be glad that we can walk the world, and find so many chances to perceive another situation where God’s gift can once again be recognized as ours! And thus will all the vestiges of hell, the secret sins and hidden hates be gone. And all the loveliness which they concealed appear like lawns of Heaven to our sight, to lift us high above the thorny roads we travelled on before the Christ appeared. (A Course in MiraclesT-31.VIII.9:1-3)

Today it is my opportunity to join with Holy Spirit to see as Holy Spirit sees everyone in this world. To do this, I must be willing to step back from the old habit of seeing through the ego’s eyes. I want to see the truth instead of illusions. I do this through vigilance and paying attention to what thought system I am joining with in the present moment. All through the day I have another chance to see as Holy Spirit sees. This is how I reach the lawns of Heaven. This is how I truly am of service to every brother. This is how I awaken from the dream of separation and see the face of Christ.

The world was made as a place to hide from the oneness of Love and have a separate kingdom I could call my own. When I choose the Holy Spirit as my Teacher, the world becomes a classroom in which I learn to once again recognize God’s gift of Love. Under Holy Spirit’s tutelage, every situation, every relationship, becomes an opportunity to choose to see with the Light of Love’s oneness instead of the dark thought of separation.

Today I choose to be vigilant for Holy Spirit’s lessons in Love instead of repeating the worn and tired lessons of the ego. Thus every moment becomes an opportunity to accept Love’s blessing. Today will be a blessed day indeed.
