The Gentle Flow of Spirit

I had an image in my mind of being in a canoe, gliding gently down a stream. I did not need to paddle. The current carried me effortlessly at the perfect speed. As I was carried along, I saw that everything is in perfect order. I did not need to paddle and hurry along. In fact, if I tried to set the pace, I simply threw the timing off. What would occur naturally of its own would instead become complicated and difficult.

This image is a great reminder to allow myself to be carried in the gentle flow of Spirit. This is my practice for today.

I move into Holy Spirit’s gentle flow with the consistent practice of pausing for peace. Pausing for peace helps me remember that I will be carried if I give my consent. Today my practice is to pay attention to my willingness to be carried, instead of trying to decide what anything means on my own. With this practice, a beautiful, peaceful day of blessings will unfold. And I give thanks.

Being in Holy Spirit’s School

The Holy Spirit sees only one purpose in the world: To forgive the world for all we think it is. If we do this completely, we remove all barriers to the awareness of Love’s Presence. This means that in all my doing each day, it’s not about the form of what I do; it’s about the opportunity in each moment to see past the form to the Love that is everywhere. It is about recognizing that God is in everything I see.

I cannot do this on my own. But the Holy Spirit in my mind, the Presence of Love, can guide me every step of the way. I need only be willing to let Love be my Guide in every moment. This is my practice for today. I look forward to many wonderful, little easy steps toward being the Love I am created to be.

I am in Holy Spirit’s school of awakening. I need to remember that I am the student and that Holy Spirit is the Teacher. My receptivity to Holy Spirit’s guidance helps me learn my lessons well.

We are all being taught that we are still as God created us. My willingness to let this truth in is what is need to learn Holy Spirit’s lessons. This is my practice for today.

The Doorway to Peace

Forgiveness is the doorway to peace. Judgment (unforgiveness) closes the door and locks it with heavy chains to bar against the intrusion of the Oneness that is the Home of peace. Letting go of judgment lets the chains fall away and rolls away the stone that would keep the Son of God in an image of death. With forgiveness we walk through the illusionary door that we believed separated us from the oneness of Love, from Heaven.

It is clear that I still need to be vigilant of my thoughts and take each thought of judgment to the Presence of Love in my mind, where it can be transformed and released so that the reality of Love can shine through. This is all I really want. This is how I open to the experience of the changeless peace of God. Today is another happy day of practice being vigilant for peace.

Peace comes when I allow an open space for quiet. In truth we are all immersed in God’s peace, joy and Love. It is all That we are for eternity. In truth peace is here right now. My job is to make room for peace and let the awareness of what is already there return to my mind. A Course in Miracles reminds me that God is very quiet. My practice for today is to allow the quietness of God’s peace to enter and heal my mind today.

One Identity

The truth is we all have the same Identity. We are all the one Spirit of Love. My opportunity for today is to lay down the false images I have bought into. I cannot hold on to the images of separation and receive the truth at the same time. I must let go of the ego’s illusions to remember the truth of our one Identity. Which of these I am receptive to in each present moment is what I will experience. The truth is always there, waiting for me to open to Its Reality.

When I am closed to the Light, I will not be aware of Light’s Presence, even though it is everywhere right now. My opportunity today is to welcome the truth by accepting the Light of Love that is everywhere. My opportunity today is to the let the veil of false images be lifted to see the one Identity That is always there. As I am willing to practice this, fear and doubt fades and Love’s happiness returns. And for this I give thanks.

When I see my brother as one with my true Identity, there is no conflict. What is the same cannot be in conflict. The world is just a smokescreen made by the ego thought of separation to hide the one Identity I share with all. It is impossible for the ego to see this Identity because the ego is Its denial. This is why I must turn to the Voice for God in my mind to receive the Vision that will show me the unity that is ever-present.

The moment-by-moment practice of turning over all my interpretations to the Holy Spirit to receive His reinterpretation in the Light of Love is the way Home. It is only this I want. I want to see and know my true Identity, the One I share with every brother. This is how I will experience the eternal joy of Love’s extension. This is how I find true happiness. It can be found nowhere else.

In our reading in A Course in Miracles this morning, this is what stood out:

Today He speaks to you. His Voice awaits your silence, for His Word can not be heard until your mind is quiet a while, and meaningless desires have been stilled. Await His Word in quiet. There is peace within you to be called upon today, to help make ready your most holy mind to hear the Voice for its Creator speak. (W-pI.125.6)

The truth is we are still as God created us. We all have all of God — all Love, which is shared with all. This is Reality, now and forever. The little kingdom I have made up as a “separate person” is really nothing and nowhere. My opportunity today is to allow myself to be led by Love instead of deciding reality on my own. As I am willing to accept God’s peace, the conflicts are dissolved and clarity returns.

This is my practice for today. I would not lead, but only follow and await His Word in quiet. In quiet I remember, “Nothing real can be threatened. Nothing unreal exists. Herein lies the peace of God.” (ACIM, T-Intro)

Forgiveness is a key ingredient for effective listening to the Word of God. When my mind is preoccupied with judgments, the guidance of Love is shut out. Peace and judgment cannot coexist.

Today I will be mindful of my thoughts and bring each judgment to the Holy Spirit, remembering that I, on my own, do not know what anything means. As I am willing to let Love’s meaning replace the judgment, my mind opens to receive God’s Word, the message of Love. This is how I will open my inner hearing to receive Love’s messages.

I Am Never Alone

This world of separate identities seems so complex. It is filled with a constant flow of problems. When one problem gets solved, another pops up. The Course tells us that the world is a distraction meant to hide the Light of God. Today it is my opportunity to let the veil of that distraction be lifted.

Today I choose to see the face of Christ. Today I choose to recognize unity instead of the images of separation. Today I choose peace instead of conflict. I am always deciding between ego or Christ’s vision. What I see is the effect of that choice, so I am always getting feedback on my decision. To let my mind be healed, I welcome Holy Spirit’s guidance to lead me through the day in peace. I am grateful that this help is always there.

I am never alone. The truth in me is eternally united with my Creator. The truth in me is Love, Which created me. When I identify with this truth in me, I see it everywhere. The joy that comes with feeling immersed in Love inspires me to extend Love and I feel the eternal joy of being in the circle of Love.

But when I identify myself with a body, all this is hidden from my awareness. Instead of the certainty of Love, I see uncertainty, change, potential danger and guilt. It’s not a pretty picture. It’s a picture of being alone and vulnerable, without a friend. I get wrapped up in trying to figure out how to make the world appear the way I think it should in myriad ways.

It can show up in something as little as being frustrated when I can’t get a box open easily. it can seem like a bigger danger when the brakes go out in the car and I’m told it will cost $2,400 to fix. But these situations are really the same. They are simply an outward picture of a belief I hold in my mind that I am separate and cut off from the Love of my Source. It is not true, but belief makes it seem to be true.

Today I will practice welcoming the peace that is within and opening to the loving inspiration that comes with it. This inspiration is available to me in every moment to help me see past the images of separation to the safety and joy of the eternal Love that I am. This practice helps me see situations differently and inspires me.

Yesterday I was working on a computer project. I was at a point where I thought I was ready to go on to the next step. But something nudged me to look deeper into what I had just done. I followed that nudge and discovered an error that would have caused problems down the road. To me this is an example of letting myself be guided by the Light within. It always leads to greater simplicity and peace. I am grateful that the Light is in me and I am willing to let It show me the way Home.

Fulfilling My True Function

Today is another day for mind healing. This is what today day is for. It may look like a day of meetings, deadlines, etc., but my only real purpose is to open to Holy Spirit’s purpose for this day. To receive mind healing, I must remember to consistently step back and follow Holy Spirit’s lead.

Another way that helps is to consistently remember to choose peace. Choosing peace all through the day triggers my remembrance to stay open to Holy Spirit’s mind training. It helps me remember that I am always choosing between ego’s thoughts and Holy Spirit’s awakened perspective.

The Holy Spirit reminds me that I am love and everyone else is love, behind the stories of the dream. The Holy Spirit reminds me that nothing has happened to change God’s one holy Son. When I forget He is right there to lift me up and return me to a state of mind where I fulfill my only true function. Today is for listening and letting my mind be healed. And I give thanks.

My peace is disturbed only when I forget that I am sustained by the Love of God. I am believing that I am separate and alone, which means I believe I am disconnected from the strength of God. A Course in Miracles tells me that if I am relying on my own strength, I have every reason to be apprehensive and fearful. That is what I experience when I think I am alone.

But the good news is that I am not alone and could never be alone. In truth I remain in the Heart of God. He shares all His strength with me because He has given me all of Himself. In this perfect safety, I rest in His peace and the certainty of His Love. Ah-h-h! I can relax now. In fact, relaxing now is how I remember that God is in my mind.

Today I will be vigilant for any disturbance or tension and let it remind me to step back and relax and welcome God’s peace. When I welcome His peace, I welcome happiness because God’s Will for me is perfect happiness. The more vigilant I am to welcome the certainty of God in my mind, the happier I am. Today will be a happy day.
