Let Love Decide

You have the right to all the universe; to perfect peace, complete deliverance from all effects of sin, and to the life eternal, joyous and complete in every way, as God appointed for His holy Son. This is the only justice Heaven knows, and all the Holy Spirit brings to earth. Your special function shows you nothing else but perfect justice can prevail for you. And you are safe from vengeance in all forms. The world deceives, but it cannot replace God’s justice with a version of its own. For only love is just, and can perceive what justice must accord the Son of God. Let love decide, and never fear that you, in your unfairness, will deprive yourself of what God’s justice has allotted you. (A Course in Miracles T-25.VIII.14)

To let Love decide we must let Holy Spirit guide our decisions. The ego thought system has no clue what Love is and can offer only specialness as a substitute. Yet specialness always brings with it guilt and belief in sin. But if we allow Holy Spirit to guide all our decisions, all guilt will disappear. We are relieved of the responsibility of trying to grasp all the effects of a decision on everyone, everywhere and in all of time. This is beyond our grasp but wholly within the Holy Spirit’s wisdom.

We can relax into the Holy Spirit’s guidance in all our decisions. Relieved of the weight of making decisions based on incomplete information, we can accept the grace of Love’s gifts of peace and happiness. When we let Love decide, we learn of our innocence and our safety. We learn of the certainty of Love’s care for us. And we experience the joy of joining with all our brothers in the peace of Heaven. All this is given us when we let Love decide.

Reconnecting with Our One Self

Our hourly five-minute practicing will be a search for Him within your mind. Salvation comes from this one Self through Him Who is the Bridge between your mind and It. Wait patiently, and let Him speak to you about your Self, and what your mind can do, restored to It and free to serve Its Will.

…Restored in strength, it will again flow out from spirit to the spirit in all things created by the Spirit as Itself. Your mind will bless all things. Confusion done, you are restored, for you have found your Self. (A Course in Miracles W-pI.96.8:2-4;10:3-5)

Our one Self is always there, waiting for our return. Our practice for today is to give time hourly to reconnecting with our Self through “Him Who is the Bridge.” We open our minds by pausing for peace. We wait patiently, open to receive His gifts of Love and joy. We want only to receive and extend His Will. We want only to serve God’s Will and let His blessing be extended through us.

Forgiveness Is Our Only Purpose

The real world is the state of mind in which the only purpose of the world is seen to be forgiveness. Fear is not its goal, for the escape from guilt becomes its aim. The value of forgiveness is perceived and takes the place of idols, which are sought no longer, for their “gifts” are not held dear. No rules are idly set, and no demands are made of anyone or anything to twist and fit into the dream of fear. Instead, there is a wish to understand all things created as they really are. And it is recognized that all things must be first forgiven, and then understood. (A Course in Miracles T-30.V.1)

We forgive when we recognize that the object of our judgment is meaningless and purposeless. In truth, no form in the world has any purpose or meaning. The ego gives forms the purpose of being a shield to “protect” against the oneness of Love. But we are not the ego and we do not need to accept the ego’s purpose as our own. We have deceived ourselves by accepting the ego’s purpose, but we can learn to recognize that purpose is not our will and that our real purpose is to let go of the ego to make way for our return to Love.

Only Love is understandable because only Love is real. As we let the Holy Spirit help us recognize the mistaken purpose we have given the forms of the world, we can easily let them go. As those barriers of self-deception are laid down, we recognize that our will is one with God’s Will. Our will is to be Love and extend Love. Forgiveness returns this to our awareness and we give thanks.

From Conflict to Peace

Peace is the state where love abides, and seeks to share itself. Conflict and peace are opposites. Where one abides the other cannot be; where either goes the other disappears. So is the memory of God obscured in minds that have become illusions’ battleground. Yet far beyond this senseless war it shines, ready to be remembered when you side with peace. (A Course in Miracles T-23.I.12:5-9)

To remember God we must be willing to accept peace. Because God is peace, conflict interferes with our awareness that we remain in God, safely in His peace. But here we are told that conflict is illusion. Because God is one, two “entities” that conflict with each other cannot exist.

Yet it seems that the world we perceive through the body’s eyes is in constant conflict. This can mean only one thing: The world is an illusion, and all the conflicts it seems to contain are illusions. Illusions are maintained through belief. This is good news because we can always change what we believe. The moment we withdraw belief in an illusion, it disappears.

We are blessed with an inner Teacher Who can teach us to recognize illusions for what they are. The moment we recognize an illusion as illusion, it fades away. Our practice today is to open our minds to the Holy Spirit’s loving lessons in truth so we can to let go of the illusions that obscure God’s gift of peace that is our own. With His help, we will experience increasing peace today.

Accepting the Miracle Forgiveness Brings

Forgiveness lets the veil be lifted up that hides the face of Christ from those who look with unforgiving eyes upon the world. It lets you recognize the Son of God, and clears your memory of all dead thoughts so that remembrance of your Father can arise across the threshold of your mind.

…In quietness it rises up to greet your open eyes, and fill your heart with deep tranquility as ancient truths, forever newly born, arise in your awareness. What you will remember then can never be described. Yet your forgiveness offers it to you. (A Course in Miracles W-pI.122.3:1-2;8:3-5)

Today our practice is to open our minds to the healing gifts the Holy Spirit brings throughout the day through our willingness to forgive the world for all we thought it was. We welcome the Light of truth and let It shine away the false ideas of the ego thought system. We are Love’s extension and we would let Love extend through us through our forgiveness. Today we accept the miracle forgiveness brings all through the day.

Our Agreement to Be Forever One

Let this be your agreement with each one; that you be one with him and not apart. And he will keep the promise that you make with him, because it is the one that he has made to God, as God has made to him. God keeps His promises; His Son keeps his. In his creation did his Father say, “You are beloved of Me and I of you forever. Be you perfect as Myself, for you can never be apart from Me.” His Son remembers not that he replied “I will,” though in that promise he was born. Yet God reminds him of it every time he does not share a promise to be sick, but lets his mind be healed and unified. His secret vows are powerless before the Will of God, Whose promises he shares. And what he substitutes is not his will, who has made promise of himself to God. (A Course in Miracles T-28.VI.6)

Our only purpose now is to let our minds be healed and unified. Because we are one with God forever, we are one with every brother. Accepting the truth about our oneness is what today and every day is for. What a joy it is to be done with the idea of aloneness.

We have infinite help with our one goal of returning to the truth that we, along with every brother, are still one with God. Here there is certainty. Here there is peace. We take each present moment and follow the lead of the Light within. We let our minds be returned to the truth of Oneness.

Deciding with God

When you have learned how to decide with God, all decisions become as easy and as right as breathing. There is no effort, and you will be led as gently as if you were being carried down a quiet path in summer. Only your own volition seems to make deciding hard. The Holy Spirit will not delay in answering your every question what to do. He knows. And He will tell you, and then do it for you. You who are tired will find this is more restful than sleep. For you can bring your guilt into sleeping, but not into this. (A Course in Miracles T-14.IV.6)

Every day we are faced with myriad decisions. Each one seems to have many considerations. What will be the effect of this choice? Will we like the effect? What will we gain or lose? The desired outcome may itself have conflicting goals, leading to more uncertainty. All these questions and uncertainties come from the belief that we are separate, different from others and different from our Creator.

Since we never really did succeed in separating from our Source, all we need do to go beyond all questions and uncertainty is to accept ourselves as we were created, at one with our Creator, complete and without needs of any kind. To reach this state of full acceptance, we need the help of the Presence in our minds that remembers the truth about us.

Our practice today is to bring all our decisions to this Presence, the Holy Spirit, to decide for us on behalf of the truth of What we are. This decision is without conflict because What we are is one with all That is. Today we will practice asking with every decision “What would Holy Spirit have us do?”
