Rising Above to Awaken to Love

I am in danger nowhere in the world.

Your Son is safe wherever he may be, for You are there with him. ²He need but call upon Your Name, and he will recollect his safety and Your Love, for they are one. ³How can he fear or doubt or fail to know he cannot suffer, be endangered, or experience unhappiness, when he belongs to You, beloved and loving, in the safety of Your Fatherly embrace?

And there we are in truth. ²No storms can come into the hallowed haven of our home. ³In God we are secure. ⁴For what can come to threaten God Himself, or make afraid what will forever be a part of Him? (A Course in Miracles, W-244. See also ACIM Lesson 244 Insights.)

We dwell in the safety of God’s eternal presence. He has kept His Son united with Himself. God has no opponent, for He is all of Reality.

But we can dream of being in opposition to our Father. In this dream we believe we have lost our connection with our safety and peace. It is a dream fraught with uncertainty and fear. We seek for Love and certainty, but it cannot be found in the dream. But we can step back from the dream and rise above it.

We ask the Holy Spirit for help to reconnect with the certainty of God’s Love. When we are willing to let go of our judgments to be replaced with the Holy Spirit’s judgment of real or unreal, we see the way to peace of mind. As we recognize the unreal for what it is, we dismiss it. We see our safety in God’s changeless Love. We know we are loved and loving.

Forgive the Past to Welcome Love Forever

I seek a future different from the past.

From new perception of the world there comes a future very different from the past. ²The future now is recognized as but extension of the present. ³Past mistakes can cast no shadows on it, so that fear has lost its idols and its images, and being formless, it has no effects. ⁴Death will not claim the future now, for life is now its goal, and all the needed means are happily provided. ⁵Who can grieve or suffer when the present has been freed, extending its security and peace into a quiet future filled with joy?

Father, we were mistaken in the past, and choose to use the present to be free. ²Now do we leave the future in Your Hands, leaving behind our past mistakes, and sure that You will keep Your present promises, and guide the future in their holy light. All our sadness, fear and guilt come from guilty thoughts about the past. We believe that what happened in the past determines our future. We expect there to be future consequences from past mistakes. This belief traps us in a cycle of guilt and fear.

But the past is gone. Only our wish to keep the past in our mind gives them influence over our present state. The ego dwells on the past and projects a future that repeats the past. Now we need to remember that the past is gone. We have no need to bring the past to the present. In the present is God’s promise that we dwell in the oneness of Love forever. Love does not change. It is all that is real.

As we learn to forgive our wish to bring the past to the present we welcome the changeless Love that is ours now and forever. In this remembrance, we find peace and happiness.

Being a Messenger of Peace

Your peace is with me, Father. I am safe.

Your peace surrounds me, Father. ²Where I go, Your peace goes there with me. ³It sheds its light on everyone I meet. ⁴I bring it to the desolate and lonely and afraid. ⁵I give Your peace to those who suffer pain, or grieve for loss, or think they are bereft of hope and happiness. ⁶Send them to me, my Father. ⁷Let me bring Your peace with me. ⁸For I would save Your Son, as is Your Will, that I may come to recognize my Self.

And so we go in peace. ²To all the world we give the message that we have received. ³And thus we come to hear the Voice for God, Who speaks to us as we relate His Word; Whose Love we recognize because we share the Word that He has given unto us. Peace comes with forgiveness. Judgment disturbs our peace because it denies the oneness of Love. When we let go of our opinions, our judgments about good and bad, right or wrong, we let our mind be open to the Holy Spirit’s true judgment.

His judgment is simple; He sees everything as either real or unreal. He dismisses the unreal as meaningless. Because only Love is real, He sees only Love or a call for Love.

As we turn over all judgment to the Holy Spirit, we will always answer with Love. And Love brings peace with It. Today we turn over all our perceptions to the Holy Spirit and l With this practice we will be messengers of peace.

Accepting Our Unity in Love

⁵God would not have Heaven incomplete. ⁶It waits for you, as I do. ⁷I am incomplete without your part in me. ⁸And as I am made whole we go together to our ancient home, prepared for us before time was and kept unchanged by time, immaculate and safe, as it will be at last when time is done.

²For this alone I need; that you will hear the words I speak, and give them to the world. ³You are my voice, my eyes, my feet, my hands through which I save the world. ⁴The Self from which I call to you is but your own. ⁵To Him we go together. ⁶Take your brother’s hand, for this is not a way we walk alone. ⁷In him I walk with you, and you with me. ⁸Our Father wills His Son be one with Him. ⁹What lives but must not then be one with you?

⁵You are His Son, completing His extension in your own. ⁶We practice but an ancient truth we knew before illusion seemed to claim the world. ⁷And we remind the world that it is free of all illusions every time we say:

⁸God is but Love, and therefore so am I. (A Course in Miracles, W-rV.in.8:5-8;9:2-9;10:5-8. See also ACIM Lesson 171 Insights.)

We are being taught to identify with our one Self. This Identity includes every brother, including Jesus. As we identify with this Self, we acknowledge that we are Love because we are God’s extension of His Love. Only Love is real, so we are Love, as is God.

It doesn’t seem that we are one Self. It doesn’t seem that we are Love because we have identified with a false image that is separate and alone. The practice of reminding ourselves that God is Love and therefore so are we is training our mind to accept the truth.

If we experience unhappiness, fear or anger, we have identified with a false image. We need to remember we remain as God created us. Love is What we are. Love is What every brother is.

Today we are acknowledging our true Self. As Love, we are one with every brother and our Creator.

Seeing the Love Beyond the Form

Forgiveness ends the dream of conflict here.

Conflict must be resolved. ²It cannot be evaded, set aside, denied, disguised, seen somewhere else, called by another name, or hidden by deceit of any kind, if it would be escaped. ³It must be seen exactly as it is, where it is thought to be, in the reality which has been given it, and with the purpose that the mind accorded it. ⁴For only then are its defenses lifted, and the truth can shine upon it as it disappears.

Father, forgiveness is the light You chose to shine away all conflict and all doubt, and light the way for our return to You. ²No light but this can end our evil dream. ³No light but this can save the world. ⁴For this alone will never fail in anything, being Your gift to Your beloved Son. Conflict can only seem to occur if there appears to be differences. Differences can only occur in a dream of separation. When we accept the Holy Spirit’s help to see past the appearance of differences, the Light of Love’s oneness shines through. Wherever there seems to be conflict, we have an opportunity to forgive.

In this moment we need to ask Holy Spirit for His help to let go of the meaning we have given to the appearance. Form is part of the dream. But t, and what it may seem to do, to the changeless Love that is our Reality. Each time we do this we progress along the path of awakening to Love.

Following the Voice for Love

…[defense] gives illusions full reality, and then attempts to handle them was real. It adds illusions to illusions, thus making correction doubly difficult. And it is this you do when you attempt to plan the future, activate the past, or organize the present as you wish.

You will not see the mind as separate from the bodily conditions. And you will impose upon the body all the pain that comes from the conception the mind was limited and fragile, and apart from other minds and separated from its Source.

These are the thoughts in need of healing, and the body will respond with health when they have been corrected and replaced with truth. This is the body’s only real defense.

A healed mind does not plan. It carries out the plans that it receives through listening to Wisdom that is not its own. It waits until it has been taught what should be done, and then proceeds to do it. It does not depend upon itself for anything except it adequacy to fulfill the lans assigned to it. We recently watched a movie in which characters witnessed an event and decided what it meant. But later they learned that they misinterpreted what they saw because they did not have all the information they needed to understand.

This portrays what happens when we depend upon the body’s senses to assign meaning. The body is limited and does not receive all the information needed to fully understand. We need to quiet our minds to listen for the Voice that speaks for God. All our plans and interpretations need to be based on the plans we receive through this Voice.

The practice of stepping back and allowing our minds to quiet is essential for our happiness and good health. As we let ourselves follow inner Wisdom, we learn what is truly helpful. We learn to disregard mistaken wishes and false beliefs. We learn to see through the eyes of Love, which do not depend on the body at all.

As we receive the plans God has for us through listening to His Voice in our mind, we learn that all our needs are met. And we receive God’s gifts of peace, Love and joy.

Being a Conduit for God’s Love

How thoroughly insane is the idea that to defend from fear is to attack! …

⁶You make what you defend against, and by your own defense against it is it real and inescapable. ⁷Lay down your arms, and only then do you perceive it false.

The choice you make today is certain. ²For you look for the last time upon this bit of carven stone [ego] you made, and call it god no longer. …⁶And you return to a new world, unburdened by its weight; beheld not in its sightless eyes, but in the vision that your choice restored to you.

Now do your eyes belong to Christ, and He looks through them. ²Now your voice belongs to God and echoes His. ³And now your heart remains at peace forever.

Father, we are like You. ²No cruelty abides in us, for there is none in You. ³Your peace is ours. ⁴And we bless the world with what we have received from You alone. ⁵We choose again, and make our choice for all our brothers, knowing they are one with us. ⁶We bring them Your salvation as we have received it now. ⁷And we give thanks for them who render us complete. ⁸In them we see Your glory, and in them we find our peace. ⁹Holy are we because Your Holiness has set us free. ¹⁰And we give thanks. ¹¹Amen. In this world it seems that we must constantly protect ourselves. But what we protect is a false image of what we are. We are not a body or a personality. We are extensions of God’s Love with all His attributes.

Today we choose a path different from defense and attack. We choose to be conduits for God’s Love. As His Love extends through us, we see that it joins us with every brother. We are all one and the same Love. As we join in Love we find peace and happiness. We bring blessing to the world, and we are blessed.
