Accepting the Invitation to Awaken

Father, I must return Your Love for me, for giving and receiving are the same, and You have given all Your Love to me. ²I must return it, for I want it mine in full awareness, blazing in my mind and keeping it within its kindly light, inviolate, beloved, with fear behind and only peace ahead. ³How still the way Your loving Son is led along to You!

Brother, we find that stillness now. ²The way is open. ³Now we follow it in peace together. ⁴You have reached your hand to me, and I will never leave you. ⁵We are one, and it is but this oneness that we seek, as we accomplish these few final steps which end a journey that was not begun. We can think of Jesus as an elder brother who has fully awakened to the Christ He is, along with all God’s Sons. United with the Christ mind, He calls to the Christ in each of us to join with Him in accepting God’s gift of perfect Love. It is a gift that must be shared in order to be known.

It is impossible to share bodies, for they represent the denial of oneness. But Love is shared in the mind. It is not limited by the body. Today we accept Jesus’ invitation to join with Him in the Christ Mind to know the peace that God has given us. We walk together in the journey of awakening to our true Self, the Son of God.

Claiming Our Identity in Certainty

There is nothing to fear.

The idea for today simply states a fact. ²It is not a fact to those who believe in illusions, but illusions are not facts. ³In truth there is nothing to fear. ⁴It is very easy to recognize this. ⁵But it is very difficult to recognize it for those who want illusions to be true.

The presence of fear is a sure sign that you are trusting in your own strength. ²The awareness that there is nothing to fear shows that somewhere in your mind, though not necessarily in a place you recognize as yet, you have remembered God, and let His strength take the place of your weakness. ³The instant you are willing to do this there is indeed nothing to fear. Anything that disturbs our peace is some form of fear. It means we are investing our belief in an illusion that harm is possible. Most of the time this threat is not of physical harm, but is about our perceived identity that we feel we must defend. Because the identity we claim in the world is an illusion, it is highly unstable, subject to a change in belief on a whim. Beliefs are changeable. An idea that might change our belief and cause us to think our identity is threatened must be defended against.

We build many structures to defend against change. Habits and rituals help us maintain stability. Family and social groups we identify with also seem to protect our identity. Yet all these mental structures are based on an illusion of what we are. The only thing that is stable and unchangeable is God’s Love, which He gave His Son in His Creation.

Love is our foundation for the certainty and strength we can count on to maintain peace in our mind. Fear is illusion; Love is Reality. The antidote to all fear is the acceptance of God’s gift of all His Love. When we say “God is the strength in which I trust,” we are accepting His gift. We are accepting the stability of God’s changelessness. We are accepting our true Self.

Walking the World in Peace and Happiness

I will be still an instant and go home.

This world you seem to live in is not home to you. ²And somewhere in your mind you know that this is true. ³A memory of home keeps haunting you, as if there were a place that called you to return, although you do not recognize the voice, nor what it is the voice reminds you of. ⁴Yet still you feel an alien here, from somewhere all unknown.

We speak today for everyone who walks this world, for he is not at home. ²He goes uncertainly about in endless search, seeking in darkness what he cannot find; not recognizing what it is he seeks. ³A thousand homes he makes, yet none contents his restless mind. ⁴He does not understand he builds in vain. ⁵The home he seeks can not be made by him. ⁶There is no substitute for Heaven. ⁷All he ever made was hell.

When you are still an instant, when the world recedes from you, when valueless ideas cease to have value in your restless mind, then will you hear His Voice.

The ego fills our mind with chatter. Its thoughts are always some form of repetition of the past. Even its thoughts about the future are built upon thoughts of the past. Neither the past nor the stories the ego makes up about the future are real. But as long as we think these thoughts have value or meaning, we are unaware of the eternal Love in the present moment. The present lasts forever so the future can only be known in the present instant. The future is Love just as Love is now. Only Love is real.

Today we practice disengaging from the ego’s thoughts by reminding ourselves they have no value. They offer nothing that we truly want. We step back and make way for the Voice for Love to speak to us. It speaks to us of our safety and our eternal unity with our Creator. It reminds us of our true Home so we can bring this memory with us while we walk the world in peace and happiness.

Choosing the Easy Path to Freedom

The Holy Spirit needs my voice today, that all the world may listen to Your Voice, and hear Your Word through me. ²I am resolved to let You speak through me, for I would use no words but Yours, and have no thoughts which are apart from Yours, for only Yours are true. ³I would be savior to the world I made. ⁴For having damned it I would set it free, that I may find escape, and hear the Word Your holy Voice will speak to me today.

We teach today what we would learn, and that alone. ²And so our learning goal becomes an unconflicted one, and possible of easy reach and quick accomplishment. ³How gladly does the Holy Spirit come to rescue us from hell, when we allow His teaching to persuade the world, through us, to seek and find the easy path to God. The easy path to God is to resign as our own teacher and put the Holy Spirit in charge of our lesson plan. He knows the way to heal our fear-based thoughts. As we step back and let Him lead the way, we are directed to learn the lessons that show us illusions for what they are. Illusions recognized are easily released and the truth rushes in to fill the space made empty by our willingness.

As we accept truth in place of illusions, we demonstrate the blessing of Holy Spirit’s lead through our words and actions. We are more peaceful. We smile and laugh more often. Our words carry healing messages of Love. We are truly helpful because Love is our Guide.

Today we choose the easy path to freedom by welcoming the Holy Spirit’s lessons in Love.

Choosing to Follow Holy Spirit

This day I choose to spend in perfect peace.

It does not seem to me that I can choose to have but peace today. ²And yet, my God assures me that His Son is like Himself. ³Let me this day have faith in Him Who says I am God’s Son. ⁴And let the peace I choose be mine today bear witness to the truth of what He says. ⁵God’s Son can have no cares, and must remain forever in the peace of Heaven. ⁶In His Name, I give today to finding what my Father wills for me, accepting it as mine, and giving it to all my Father’s Sons, along with me.

And so, my Father, would I pass this day with You. ²Your Son has not forgotten You. ³The peace You gave him still is in his mind, and it is there I choose to spend today. (A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson 255. See also ACIM Lesson 255 Insights.)

In the ego’s dream, peace must be a choice. It cannot come from the ego because the ego denies the Source of peace. But we do not have to accept the ego’s meager offerings. We have the choice to accept what God gave us as His Son. It is the choice that denies the ego’s denial of Love and thus “sacrifices” nothing to gain everything.

God’s gift of all of Himself is all there is to give, all there is to have. We do not have to qualify for His gifts. They are given without limit nor conditions because God knows His Son as He knows Himself. Today we choose to follow the Voice for God to lead us out of our mistaken allegiance and reclaim God’s gift of perfect peace. It is ours now. It needs only to be accepted to be experienced.

Walking with the Certainty of Love’s Presence

Today we will again give thanks for our Identity in God. ²Our home is safe, protection guaranteed in all we do, power and strength available to us in all our undertakings. ³We can fail in nothing. ⁴Everything we touch takes on a shining light that blesses and that heals. ⁵At one with God and with the universe we go our way rejoicing, with the thought that God Himself goes everywhere with us.

⁴We feel Him in our hearts. ⁵Our minds contain His Thoughts; our eyes behold His loveliness in all we look upon. ⁶Today we see only the loving and the lovable.

No miracle can ever be denied to those who know that they are one with God. ²No thought of theirs but has the power to heal all forms of suffering in anyone, in times gone by and times as yet to come, as easily as in the ones who walk beside them now. ³Their thoughts are timeless, and apart from distance as apart from time.

²Secure your peace by practicing awareness you are one with your Creator, as He is with you.

God is only Love, so His Thoughts are only extensions of His Love, forever united in Him. Everyone’s true Identity is a thought of Love held eternally in the Mind of Love. We dedicate today to remembering What we are and Where we, along with every brother.

We remember we are safe, loved and loving. We ask the Holy Spirit to help us see past appearances with the vision of Christ. This is the vision that blesses and heals. The reality of Love’s Presence supersedes the images in the world. We remember we walk with God, assured of His protection and strength. We are at peace, remembering we are one with every brother.

Accepting the Joy God Wills for Us

Happiness is an attribute of love. ²It cannot be apart from it. ³Nor can it be experienced where love is not. ⁴Love has no limits, being everywhere. ⁵And therefore joy is everywhere as well. ⁶Yet can the mind deny that this is so, believing there are gaps in love where sin can enter, bringing pain instead of joy. ⁷This strange belief would limit happiness by redefining love as limited, and introducing opposition in what has no limit and no opposite.

Fear is associated then with love, and its results become the heritage of minds that think what they have made is real. ²These images, with no reality in truth, bear witness to the fear of God, forgetting being Love, He must be joy. ³This basic error we will try again to bring to truth today, and teach ourselves:

⁴God, being Love, is also happiness.
⁵To fear Him is to be afraid of joy.

…happiness belongs to you, because of what He is.

Allow this one correction to be placed within your mind each waking hour today. ²Then welcome all the happiness it brings as truth replaces fear, and joy becomes what you expect to take the place of pain. ³God, being Love, it will be given you. It is not a sacrifice to experience joy instead of the loneliness, vulnerability and lack of love we experience in the ego’s dream. Yet the ego tries to convince us that accepting God’s gifts requires sacrifice so we must fear God. The only thing we must “sacrifice” is the illusion of a special, separate identity the ego tries to convince us is what we are. This substitute identity makes us unaware of our true Identity which shares God’s joy, peace and Love. It is the that ego demands sacrifice to maintain its illusion of separation. God freely gives all of Himself without limit to maintain His Son’s unity with Himself.

Today we remind ourselves that God’s gift of perfect happiness is ours now. Today we join with all our brothers in the joy of being God’s Son.
