The Certainty of Our Safety

No one can fail to do what God appointed him to do. When you forget, remember that you walk with Him and with His Word upon your heart. Who could despair when hope like this is his? Illusions of despair may seem to come, but learn how not to be deceived by them. Behind each one there is reality and there is God.

Now we are sure we do not walk alone. For God is here, and with Him all our brothers. Now we know that we will never lose the way again. The song begins again which had been stopped only an instant, though it seems to be unsung forever. What is here begun will grow in life and strength and hope, until the world is still an instant and forgets all that the dream of sin had made of it. (A Course in Miracles, C-ep.1:4-8;4:3-7)

Our safe return to our Home in Heaven is guaranteed by God. When all we see is a world of conflict, limitation and loss, escape can seem to be hopeless. We need to learn that this perception is a deception. We have been given a Teacher ready to help us learn this lesson of freedom from a world that could never be real. This Teacher is ever-present in our mind, on call to answer our fears and anxiety with His vision of the certainty of God’s changeless Love.

With this practice the sense of despair is replaced by the certainty of our safety in God’s Love. This is the Reality to be remembered when moments of doubt and despair come over us. Confidence is justified because it is founded on the changelessness of God’s Love.

Today let us remember with all our brothers that we are Love and nothing else.

Our Stairway to Heaven

There is no life outside of Heaven. Where God created life, there life must be. In any state apart from Heaven life is illusion. At best it seems like life; at worst, like death. Yet both are judgments on what is not life, equal in their inaccuracy and lack of meaning. Life not in Heaven is impossible, and what is not in Heaven is not anywhere. Outside of Heaven, only the conflict of illusion stands; senseless, impossible and beyond all reason, and yet perceived as an eternal barrier to Heaven. Illusions are but forms. Their content is never true.

How can you know whether you chose the stairs to Heaven or the way to hell? Quite easily. How do you feel? Is peace in your awareness? Are you certain which way you go? And are you sure the goal of Heaven can be reached? If not, you walk alone. Ask, then, your Friend to join with you, and give you certainty of where you go. (A Course in Miracles, T-23.II.19;22:6-13. The “life” we experience in the world is a fake life. It is a self deception based upon the mistaken belief that we have succeeded in separating from the Source of all Life. It is an attempt to make what could never exist appear to be true. And so we seem to live in an illusionary world of forms that we give meaning to because the forms have no content of their own.

This is why most in this world are constantly searching for meaning. A gnawing feeling of emptiness, loneliness and insufficient love seems to be our constant companion. No form in this world can truly satisfy our search, for what we seek cannot be found here.

We have a Guide in our minds Who can show us where to find what we seek. It is always with us, hidden only by false belief. As we learn to follow our inner Guide, we will reconnect with the Light of our true Self within. It will shine away the veil of false beliefs and we will experience our innate peace. This peace is God’s eternal gift to us. We take the stairs to Heaven’s peace each time we let our inner Guide help us let go of a false image, a false belief, that has hidden Heaven from our awareness.

Today is a day of opportunities to take steps toward Heaven and the peace of God.

Welcoming the Healing Light of Love

The mind that sees illusions thinks them real. They have existence in that they are thoughts. And yet they are not real, because the mind that thinks these thoughts is separate from God.

The Holy Spirit holds [the] plan of God exactly as it was received of Him within the Mind of God and in your own. It is apart from time in that its Source is timeless. Yet it operates in time, because of your belief that time is real. Unshaken does the Holy Spirit look on what you see; on sin and pain and death, on grief and separation and on loss. Yet does He know one thing must still be true; God is still Love, and this is not His Will.

Then let the Thought with which He has replaced all your mistakes enter the darkened places of your mind that thought the thoughts that never were His Will.

Let in the light, and you will look upon no obstacle to what He wills for you. Open your secrets to His kindly light, and see how bright this light still shines in you.

Everyone in this world is seeking for Love, because we believe we are separate from the Source of Love. Belief makes it seem real, though it could never be real in truth. It is this mistaken belief from which we need to be released.

God has a perfect plan with which to release us from the belief in separation, fear and guilt. He gave the plan to the Holy Spirit, Who remains forever in our mind. If we are willing, He will teach us that God’s only will for us is perfect, changeless Love. As we let Him shine His light of truth on all the dark shadows of the mistaken belief in separation, we will learn with perfect certainty that we all remain Love as Love created us.

Today we welcome the Holy Spirit’s Light in our minds.

Accepting the Power of Our Wanting

This is the only thing that you need do for vision, happiness, release from pain and the complete escape from sin, all to be given you. Say only this, but mean it with no reservations, for here the power of salvation lies:

I am responsible for what I see. I choose the feelings I experience, and I decide upon the goal I would achieve. And everything that seems to happen to me I ask for, and receive as I have asked.

Deceive yourself no longer that you are helpless in the face of what is done to you. Acknowledge but that you have been mistaken, and all effects of your mistakes will disappear.

…the power of your wanting must first be recognized. You must accept its strength, and not its weakness. You must perceive that what is strong enough to make a world can let it go, and can accept correction if it is willing to see that it was wrong.

All that the ego is, is an idea that it is possible that things could happen to the Son of God without his will;…

All that is asked of you is to make room for truth.… All you are asked to do is let it in; only to stop your interference with what will happen of itself; simply to recognize again the presence of [God’s Love] you thought you gave away. To be free of the world of fear and guilt we need only accept without reservation that we are responsible for everything we experience in the world. We only need to acknowledge that we were mistaken when we chose to believe we could be separate from Love. The ego resists this idea with its full arsenal of deceit, because our acceptance of this truth would be the ego’s complete undoing.

The ego tries to convince us that we are powerless to change our choice and what we experience. But here we are reminded that the power to make a world of fear and guilt seem real is our own. As we accept that our choice was mistaken, we remember that we share God’s Will for perfect happiness and peace. With this remembrance the world we made will disappear. We will know that we are at Home in Love.

Let Love Decide

You have the right to all the universe; to perfect peace, complete deliverance from all effects of sin, and to the life eternal, joyous and complete in every way, as God appointed for His holy Son. This is the only justice Heaven knows, and all the Holy Spirit brings to earth. Your special function shows you nothing else but perfect justice can prevail for you. And you are safe from vengeance in all forms. The world deceives, but it cannot replace God’s justice with a version of its own. For only love is just, and can perceive what justice must accord the Son of God. Let love decide, and never fear that you, in your unfairness, will deprive yourself of what God’s justice has allotted you. (A Course in Miracles, T-25.VIII.14. See also ACIM Text Q & A.)

If we let Love decide all things for us, we would remember Heaven. Love does not condemn, thus it sees only innocence. Love knows that only Its oneness is real. And so Love resolves all seeming problems so that no one loses. Love is kind and would do no harm.

We would know our perfect safety in a world where Love decides all things. We would know all our needs are met, for Love knows that all we need is Love and always gives all of Itself equally to all. Love sees only Itself and knows us all as God’s one Son, perfect and complete.

Today we will remind ourselves frequently to let Love decide.

Receiving God’s Thoughts of Love

Open your mind, and clear it of all thoughts that would deceive, and let this thought alone engage it fully, and remove the rest:

My mind holds only what I think with God.

Five minutes with this thought will be enough to set the day along the lines which God appointed, and to place His Mind in charge of all the thoughts you will receive that day.

And so each [thought] will bring the message of His Love to you, returning messages of yours to Him. So will communion with the Lord of Hosts be yours, as He Himself has willed it be. And as His Own completion joins with Him, so will He join with you who are complete as you unite with Him, and He with you.

God offers thanks to you who practice thus the keeping of His Word. And as you give your mind to the ideas for the day again before you sleep, His gratitude surrounds you in the peace wherein He wills you be forever, and are learning now to claim again as your inheritance. We don’t experience peace and happiness in this world because we have disinherited ourselves from God’s gifts. His gifts are still there, ready for us to accept in every moment. As we practice opening our minds to the Thoughts we share with God, we are opening to receive our inheritance. It is the path that leads to the certainty of God’s Love, changeless peace and indescribable joy.

Our thoughts of lack, loss, fear and guilt not shared with God. Such thoughts are inconceivable to God, Who remains the oneness of Love. To clear our minds, we need to set aside these thoughts. Forgiveness is a process for letting these thoughts go.

By repeating frequently, “My mind holds only what I think with God,” we are teaching ourselves that thoughts of fear and guilt are not really ours. As we accept that they do not belong to us, it becomes easier and easier to let them pass by. We increasingly experience the peace and happiness of God’s Love. We free ourselves to return to our Home in God.

Today we will practice holding our mind open to God’s Thoughts of Love.

The Happy Journey Home

Open your eyes today and look upon a happy world of safety and of peace. Forgiveness is the means by which it comes to take the place of hell. In quietness it rises up to greet your open eyes, and fill your heart with deep tranquility as ancient truths, forever newly born, arise in your awareness. What you will remember then can never be described. Yet your forgiveness offers it to you.

Today it will be given you to feel the peace forgiveness offers, and the joy the lifting of the veil holds out to you.

Before the light you will receive today the world will fade until it disappears, and you will see another world arise you have no words to picture. Now we walk directly into light, and we receive the gifts that have been held in store for us since time began, kept waiting for today. We condemn ourselves to hell when we subscribe to the ego belief system of separation. Separation is the denial of the oneness of Heaven. Being all that is real, Heaven is everything and hell is nothing. Only our made up illusions make hell appear to be something. Yet it is only empty images that have no meaning of their own.

Forgiveness is letting go of trying to give meaning to empty images. The body, itself an empty image, is the ego’s mechanism for making images seem real. Don’t believe it! As we forgive, let go of believing in images, the joy of Heaven returns to our awareness.

To fully experience Heaven’s joy, we cannot bring one false image with us. The path to complete forgiveness is taken step by step as we accept the Holy Spirit’s help. He takes our small efforts and magnifies them, bringing blessing to all the world.

Today we will take many wonderful little easy forgiveness steps on our journey of return to the Heaven of our Home.
