Stepping Back from the Senseless Dream

Mary:
I am seeing how important it is to allow time for stepping back to remember the truth. We all are all still perfect Love as God created us and nothing has happened to change our oneness in the Mind of Love. And yet we dream of being separate from that Love, separated and alone, weak and vulnerable, and subject to the whims of time. I am seeing that it takes a lot of dedication not to get lost in these dreams. Taking all the ego’s stories to the Holy Spirit is an important practice for me every day, because as I look out through the body’s eyes, it does seem so real.

In this morning’s reading of A Course in Miracles, the part that was most helpful to me was:

This is the way salvation works. As you step back, the light in you steps forward and encompasses the world. It heralds not the end of sin in punishment and death. In lightness and in laughter is sin gone, because its quaint absurdity is seen. It is a foolish thought, a silly dream, not frightening, ridiculous perhaps, but who would waste an instant in approach to God Himself for such a senseless whim?

“Yet you have wasted many, many years on just this foolish thought. The past is gone, with all its fantasies. They keep you bound no longer. The approach to God is near. And in the little interval of doubt that still remains, you may perhaps lose sight of your Companion, and mistake Him for the senseless, ancient dream that now is past. (W-pI.156.6-7)

I find that I get lost in the “senseless dream” again and again, and often forget the dream is just a senseless whim. I often forget the Companion Who walks with me. That is why it is so important for me, several times a day, to step back remember that I am not alone. It is important that I allow time for quiet listening to my Companion, Who remembers the truth for me. It is only the Holy Spirit in my mind That brings the peace and joy that is beyond this world. Today it is my practice to let my mind quiet and receive what is mine eternally. The truth is we are one Light and there is no distance between us. There are no differences and we are all at Home in God’s perfect Oneness now. And I give thanks.

Robert:
Today my practice again is to remember that Love walks with me, always. My practice is to let Love guide all my seeing and to be my interpreter of all images and circumstances. Thus will I learn to see the truth that lies beyond all form. Thus will I learn to recognize the blessing that is mine in every moment because it is given to all of God’s one Son.

Accept God’s Gifts

Holy Spirit to Robert:
Love walks with you in every moment. Let Love guide your vision and you will see Love shining on you from all around. You will feel Its beneficent grace and calm. Nothing will disturb your peace and your happy laughter will bring joy to all.

This is your natural state. This is God’s gift to you. Would you not accept this gift in place of the images of fear that you have made? God’s gifts are ever present, yours because it is His will.

Accept this gift. There is nothing else worthy of you. Nothing else will content you. This gift is your completion, forever yours. Bring this gift to everyone in your thoughts, everyone you see, everyone you meet, and you will know that you are Home.

Mary:
My practice for today is to give the time to receive God’s gifts of peace and joy. When I think about it, why would I not give the time to receive the awesome gifts of peace and joy? Happiness is mine if I will accept it.

My job today is to accept the gifts that are being given me by God every moment. In fact, when I think about it, what could be more important than this?

The way I receive God’s gifts is to put out the welcome mat to the Holy Spirit, Who shows me the truth of Love beyond the images of this world. As I let my mind be still, there are His gifts, waiting patiently for me to accept them. Today I am given another opportunity to be open to receive and extend God’s gifts. What a happy opportunity I am being given today. And I give thanks.

Safety Lies Only in Love’s Oneness

Holy Spirit to Robert:
You who believe you are a body looking at an outside world of images cannot plan for your safety. The thought of separation that is the foundation of this world is the denial of safety. It is the denial of the certainty of Love’s oneness. Seek not for safety within the thought system of the denial of safety. Such an attempt is to follow the ego’s principle tenet: Seek and do not find.

Safety lies in what you are in truth — in Love, your true Self. What is one cannot threaten because there is no conflict within oneness. Here in oneness you will find your safety. You have never really lost it but you have blinded yourself to it by believing you are what you are not. The belief in separation is the denial of what you are. Let this belief go. It does not serve you.

Accept yourself as Love created you. This is the Atonement. This is the healing that everyone who believes they are in the world is searching for. Let every perception of danger, of loss, of uncertainty, be a reminder to turn to the memory of your Creator in your mind. Offer these thoughts to Him. Open your heart and mind to receive the joyous peace that comes with remembering the Love you are. Share this gift of Love with everyone, for in the sharing you affirm that it is yours.

Holy Spirit to Mary:
Today, decide to remember what is eternal… Open your mind to what is eternally true… Let the Light of truth shine away your belief in separation… Let yourself rest in the truth today… Only What is eternal is true.

Let Yourself Be Carried

Holy Spirit to Robert:
Let yourself be carried today. You think you are getting tired of hearing this. But that perception is merely the ego defending its territory. The ego wants you to believe you are independent of God, separate and self-sufficient. To let yourself be carried would be to admit that you are not self-sufficient. This threatens the ego.

By letting yourself be carried you are demonstrating your willingness to accept your oneness with God. Can there be a more valuable lesson than this? This thought bears repeating often, for it is the way that will carry you to the lawns of Heaven, where God will joyfully carry you across threshold to your Home. Let yourself be carried today.

Mary:
To let myself be carried today, I need to be willing to step back and be led. I need to remember that I know nothing on my own. I must let go of the past and the future and be in the present moment. To let myself be carried I need to be willing to let my mind quiet and listen. To let myself be carried I must place all trust in God and not the ego. This is my practice today — to let myself be carried.

Whose Hand Am I Holding?

Mary:
In this morning’s reading of A Course in Miracles, this is what stood out to me:

Never accord the ego the power to interfere with the journey. It has none, because the journey is the way to what is true. Leave all illusions behind and reach beyond all attempts of the ego to hold you back. I go before you because I am beyond the ego. Reach, therefore, for my hand because you want to transcend the ego. My strength will never be wanting, and if you choose to share it you will do so. I give it willingly and gladly, because I need you as much as you need me. (T-8.V.6:4-10)

My practice today is to ask myself frequently, “Whose hand am I holding right now?” I know that there are only two choices, the ego’s or the Holy Spirit’s. I can tell which thought system I am joined with by the level of peace and joy I am feeling in the present moment. If I recognize that I am not in a place of peace, I have the opportunity to choose once again. This time I join with the Hand that is always there for me to lift me out of ego thinking to return to my true nature, which is eternal peace and Love.

I give thanks for the helping Hand that is always there to help me transcend the ego when I am willing. Today is another opportunity to practice joining with the truth instead of illusions.

Holy Spirit to Robert:
The Love in you is always truly helpful because It sees everything as part of Itself. Love sees no adversaries, no competition, nothing to compare Itself with because nothing is outside of Love. Hold the hand of Love in all your doing today and you will be truly helpful.

A Happy, Light-Filled Journey

Holy Spirit to Mary:
Be willing today to allow yourself to realize that everything you see through the body’s eyes is merely image-making. This practice will soften your hold on thinking that this dream of separation is real. This practice will help you hear the song of Heaven and feel the presence of God’s eternal peace.

Giving yourself the time to recognize that all the body’s senses are there just to perceive separation softens your belief in death. It helps to let the veil be lifted so that you can see through the eyes of Christ. The sights of the world grow dim as awareness of eternity draws near. You still see the world but you don’t take it so seriously. Your natural inner joy rises to the surface and you laugh easily.

You know your purpose here is to share the awareness of the one Son’s innocence with everyone. This journey is happy and fulfilling. You see Love everywhere and celebrate the truth that nothing has happened to change God’s one Son. This is your practice today. Enjoy!

Holy Spirit to Robert:
Follow the Light of Love in all your doing today. Let It guide your way. All forms in the world will reflect the Light of Love when you follow Its lead. All your doing becomes a blessing to all, including you. All your thoughts bring the blessing of Love with them as you follow Love’s Light. Let this be your focus today and you will have a Light-filled day.

Rest in Love

Mary:
Today my practice is to remember that I rest in God. I rest in universal Love. Because time is an illusion, I rest in Love eternally. I am as Love created me and so is everyone I perceive in the dream. This is my practice today, to return this truth again and again and again today. I rest in God. I rest in Love, as Love.

In the dream it appears as if I have many things to do today. As I am willing to remember that I rest in Love, I can take each thing as it comes and still do it, remembering all the while that I rest in Love. If I am willing, this practice can smooth out my day. This practice can help me return to the truth if I find myself getting caught up in thinking anything should be different than the way it shows up in the dream. This practice brings me peace and a sense of gentleness and comfort.

I rest in God. I rest in Love. And everyone rests there with me. Oh what happiness this remembering brings!

Holy Spirit to Robert:
It is impossible to be absent from Love, though it is possible to be unaware of It. The belief in separation brings fear with it because it is the belief in being without Love. Believing you are without Love, you do not recognize it, though it is everywhere to be seen and experienced.

If you perceive someone as unloving or afraid of Love, it is simply a symbol of the belief that it is possible to be without Love. The antidote is always Love. Your function is to extend Love. It is not your function to determine the form in which to extend It in the dream of form. Of yourself you cannot know what would be helpful. Let the Holy Spirit direct the form while you remember that you remain as Love created you.

If you believe that it is your job to correct a brother, you are attempting to take on a function that is not yours. Your only function is to Love. In the dream of forms, that function is reflected as forgiveness, letting go of the past, letting go of judgment. Focus on this with an open heart and let Me guide your expression of forgiveness and Love in the dream of form. Joined with Me, we are truly helpful in the awakening.
