Let Holy Spirit Replace All Thoughts

As I read A Course in Miracles, I’m reminded that Love is everywhere to be experienced and given. It is never absent, though I may be unaware of It because of denial. Judgment is the mechanism of the denial of Love. To judge, I must perceive myself as separate from what I judge. This is the denial of the oneness of Love.

As I practice mindfulness, I become more aware of subtle ways I slip into judgment. Whenever I use my past experience as the basis for interpreting perceptions of the present, I am judging. As I recognize how much of the day I spend doing this, the ego would turn it around and point its accusing, guilt-projecting finger at me, telling me that I am obviously at least a slow learner or at worst, a failure. After all, look at how long I’ve been studying the Course.

Gratefully, the Holy Spirit tells me, “Don’t believe it.” All I need to do is continue to practice stepping back and letting the Holy Spirit be my interpreter. Just as a concert pianist must practice over and over to refine his skill, I must practice over and over stepping back and following Holy Spirit’s lead. This is not because I am deficient. It’s just because I have been such a good teacher. I have been very effective at teaching myself that I am what I am not.

So now I am learning to redirect my teaching ability to learn that I am as God created me, along with everyone. Today is a happy day of practicing stepping back and following Holy Spirit’s lead.

How does the Holy Spirit help me? The Holy Spirit reminds me again and again that the stories I am telling myself are not real. The Holy Spirit reminds me that everyone’s stories in this world are not real. They are stories of differences and separation from God, our Source. The Holy Spirit reminds me that I can hand over these stories to be replaced by the truth of eternal oneness, eternal happiness, eternal peace and joy.

This is my opportunity today — to recognize the stories I am telling myself and to consistently hand them over all through the day to be replaced by the truth. I have been believing in stories of individuality and differences, and now it is time to let them go. Now is the time to free myself of all the barriers to the awareness that only Love is real. As I let my mind be healed by accepting thoughts from the Holy Spirit, I do my part in the awakening of God’s one Son to the Truth.
