Letting Holy Spirit Show the Way

A Course in Miracles tells us to ask of everything, “What is this for?” It’s important not to try to answer this question on our own. The ego can suggest some very plausible purposes for many things. But they are disguises for the ego’s primary goal to maintain guilt.

Asking this question interrupts the ego’s trance script so that we can turn to the Holy Spirit to receive His purpose in place of the ego’s. Applied this way, the question becomes a stepping stone to awakening. It becomes a means for undoing the illusion that the forms in this world have a meaning or value.

The Holy Spirit will always show us that the only real content is Love. It will show us that forgiveness, Love’s reflection in this world, is how we shift from following the ego’s purpose to following the Holy Spirit’s purpose.

Today I will practice asking of everything, “What is this for?” with a willingness to receive Holy Spirit’s answer.

Today is for the practice of stepping back and letting Holy Spirit show the way.
