Gratitude for the Oneness of God’s Love

The world you see does nothing. ²It has no effects at all. ³It merely represents your thoughts. ⁴And it will change entirely as you elect to change your mind, and choose the joy of God as what you really want. ⁵Your Self is radiant in this holy joy, unchanged, unchanging and unchangeable, forever and forever. ⁶And would you deny a little corner of your mind its own inheritance, and keep it as a hospital for pain; a sickly place where living things must come at last to die?

²Lay down all thoughts of danger and of fear. ³Let no attack enter with you. ⁴Lay down the cruel sword of judgment that you hold against your throat, and put aside the withering assaults with which you seek to hide your holiness.

Here will you understand there is no pain. ²Here does the joy of God belong to you. ³This is the day when it is given you to realize the lesson that contains all of salvation’s power. ⁴It is this: Pain is illusion; joy, reality. ⁵Pain is but sleep; joy is awakening. ⁶Pain is deception; joy alone is truth.

And so again we make the only choice that ever can be made; we choose between illusions and the truth, or pain and joy, or hell and Heaven. ²Let our gratitude unto our Teacher fill our hearts, as we are free to choose our joy instead of pain, our holiness in place of sin, the peace of God instead of conflict, and the light of Heaven for the darkness of the world. Every day there seems to be myriad things that appear to be threats and justification for fear. Yet we are learning none of them are real. These appearances merely represent our wish for specialness, which can only occur in a dream of differences.

This is not our Fathers Will for us. He has shared all of the Love He is with us, His one Son. Our true Self is Love and nothing else. Love is universally uniform with no differences whatsoever. Within this oneness, there can be no differences, no attack on our identity, no loss, no cause for fear or guilt. This is our natural state and we are grateful that this is so.

The Lesson That Set Us Free to Be Love

This space you see as setting off all things from one another is the means by which the world’s perception is achieved. ²You see something where nothing is, and see as well nothing where there is unity; a space between all things, between all things and you. ³Thus do you think that you have given life in separation. ⁴By this split you think you are established as a unity which functions with an independent will.

Such is the teaching of the world. ²It is a phase of learning everyone who comes must go through. ³But the sooner he perceives on what it rests, how questionable are its premises, how doubtful its results, the sooner does he question its effects. ⁴Learning that stops with what the world would teach stops short of meaning. ⁵In its proper place, it serves but as a starting point from which another kind of learning can begin, a new perception can be gained, and all the arbitrary names the world bestows can be withdrawn as they are raised to doubt.

Think not you made the world. ²Illusions, yes! ³But what is true in earth and Heaven is beyond your naming. ⁴When you call upon a brother, it is to his body that you make appeal. ⁵His true Identity is hidden from you by what you believe he really is.

⁵The Name of God [His Identity] is the inheritance He gave to those who chose the teaching of the world to take the place of Heaven. ⁶In our practicing, our purpose is to let our minds accept what God has given as the answer to the pitiful inheritance you made as fitting tribute to the Son He loves. We have identified with a thought system that tells us we are unique, separate individuals. We are systematically taught to identify everything with labels, reinforcing the belief that separation is real.

Our Creator gave us His Identity. This singular Identity unifies us with Himself. As we accept His Identity as ours, we accept God’s gift of all His Love, peace and joy. This is the lesson we need to affirm. It will set us free to be the Self that is Love and nothing else.

A Practice That Leads to Peace of Mind

I am one Self, united with my Creator.

Today’s idea accurately describes you as God created you. ²You are one within yourself, and one with Him. ³Yours is the unity of all creation. ⁴Your perfect unity makes change in you impossible. ⁵You do not accept this, and you fail to realize it must be so, only because you believe that you have changed yourself already.

You see yourself as a ridiculous parody on God’s creation; weak, vicious, ugly and sinful, miserable and beset with pain. ²Such is your version of yourself; a self divided into many warring parts, separate from God, and tenuously held together by its erratic and capricious maker, to which you pray.

⁴You have seen the extent of your lack of mental discipline, and of your need for mind training. ⁵It is necessary that you be aware of this, for it is indeed a hindrance to your advance.

…unless you are reminded of your purpose frequently, you tend to forget about it for long periods of time. ³…you have not yet formed the habit of using the idea as an automatic response to temptation.

…with all the certainty that you can give, [affirm]:

We have been given a practice that can help us remember our true Identity as Love in the Mind of God. The ego resists this practice by offering myriad distractions that reinforce its perception of reality. It keeps us on constant alert to detect potential “threats” to our identity and well-being, centered on the body. The need to defend against these threats seem to be needed for our survival. But it is only trying to maintain a false identity.

The acceptance of the thought that we are one Self, united with our Creator completely neutralizes the perceived need to defend our identity. This thought will awaken us to our true Identity as God’s one Son, eternally united with Him in perfect peace and unlimited joy. Today we practice affirming “I am one Self, united with my Creator” whenever our peace of mind is disturbed.

Seeing Past Injustice to the Unity of Love

I can give up but what was never real.

I sacrifice illusions; nothing more. ²And as illusions go I find the gifts illusions tried to hide, awaiting me in shining welcome, and in readiness to give God’s ancient messages to me. ³His memory abides in every gift that I receive of Him. ⁴And every dream serves only to conceal the Self which is God’s only Son, the likeness of Himself, the Holy One Who still abides in Him forever, as He still abides in me.

Father, to You all sacrifice remains forever inconceivable. ²And so I cannot sacrifice except in dreams. ³As You created me, I can give up nothing You gave me. ⁴What You did not give has no reality. ⁵What loss can I anticipate except the loss of fear, and the return of love into my mind? Every perceived injustice is a sure sign that there is a belief in separation that needs to be forgiven. The oneness of God’s Love is incapable of injustice. It sees only Itself everywhere, always.

Today we practice taking every perception that disturbs our peace of mind to the Holy Spirit for His kind and gentle correction. With His help we will learn to see past illusions of differences to the radiant Light of Love that unites us with our Father and every brother. We will learn to recognize calls for Love and to answer with Love’s vision.

Fulfilling Our Function in the Circle of Love

I am not asked to make a sacrifice to find the mercy and the peace of God.

The end of suffering can not be loss. ²The gift of everything can be but gain. ³You only give. ⁴You never take away. ⁵And You created me to be like You, so sacrifice becomes impossible for me as well as You. ⁶I, too, must give. ⁷And so all things are given unto me forever and forever. ⁸As I was created I remain. ⁹Your Son can make no sacrifice, for he must be complete, having the function of completing You. ¹⁰I am complete because I am Your Son. ¹¹I cannot lose, for I can only give, and everything is mine eternally.

The mercy and the peace of God are free. ²Salvation has no cost. ³It is a gift that must be freely given and received. ⁴And it is this that we would learn today. (A Course in Miracles, W-343. See also ACIM Lesson 343 Insights.)

Our Father gave us all of What He is when He created us, His Son. He kept us one with Himself in the unity of Love. We complete Him by giving as we have received. This is how we fulfill our function as Love’s extension in the eternal circle of Love.

There is no loss when we join in the eternal giving and receiving of Love. It is joyous completion that holds us safely in peace. Today we ask the Holy Spirit to help us respond with Love to every call for Love, whether it is perceived within or without. Thus we will complete our function as God’s Son.

Setting Ourselves Free to Be Love

Christ’s Second Coming gives the Son of God this gift: to hear the Voice for God proclaim that what is false is false, and what is true has never changed. ²And this the judgment is in which perception ends. ³At first you see a world that has accepted this as true, projected from a now corrected mind. ⁴And with this holy sight, perception gives a silent blessing and then disappears, its goal accomplished and its mission done.

The final judgment on the world contains no condemnation. ²For it sees the world as totally forgiven, without sin and wholly purposeless. ³Without a cause, and now without a function in Christ’s sight, it merely slips away to nothingness. ⁴There it was born, and there it ends as well. ⁵And all the figures in the dream in which the world began go with it. ⁶Bodies now are useless, and will therefore fade away, because the Son of God is limitless.

This is God’s Final Judgment: “You are still My holy Son, forever innocent, forever loving and forever loved, as limitless as your Creator, and completely changeless and forever pure. ²Therefore awaken and return to Me. ³I am your Father and you are My Son.” (A Course in Miracles, W-pII.10.1–2;5)

The body is an anchor that holds us in the ego’s dream of separation. It holds us in a seeming existence of pain, lack, loss, fear and guilt. This dream is based on an impossible premise that the Will of God could be successfully opposed.

Forgiveness is how we can let go of the anchor that holds us in an impossible dream. We have been given Help by our Father to set ourselves free. The ego teaches that we are alone. The Today we ask His help to transform our perceptions so that we may see a forgiven world where Love is recognized as our only Reality.

Our Heart’s Desire Is to Be Love

I let forgiveness rest upon all things, for thus forgiveness will be given me.

I thank You, Father, for Your plan to save me from the hell I made. ²It is not real. ³And You have given me the means to prove its unreality to me. ⁴The key is in my hand, and I have reached the door beyond which lies the end of dreams. ⁵I stand before the gate of Heaven, wondering if I should enter in and be at home. ⁶Let me not wait again today. ⁷Let me forgive all things, and let creation be as You would have it be and as it is. ⁸Let me remember that I am Your Son, and opening the door at last, forget illusions in the blazing light of truth, as memory of You returns to me.

Brother, forgive me now. ²I come to you to take you home with me. ³And as we go, the world goes with us on our way to God. (A Course in Miracles, W-342. See also ACIM Lesson 342 Insights.)

Specialness is an attempt to limit Love. The dream of individuality and differences is an expression of the ego’s wish for specialness. It is a grievance against God’s unwillingness to change the oneness of His Love. The way to wake up from this dream is to forgive our identification with the ego.

Our heart’s desire is to unite with the Love that is everywhere. When we let Christ’s vision show us the radiance of the Love in every brother, our heart sings with the joy of reunion with our true Self. We rest in the peace of God.
