Letting Truth In

All that is asked of you is to make room for truth. You are not asked to make or do what lies beyond your understanding. All you are asked to do is let it in; only to stop your interference with what will happen of itself; simply to recognize again the presence of what you thought you gave away.

Be willing, for an instant, to leave your altars free of what you placed upon them, and what is really there you cannot fail to see. The holy instant is not an instant of creation, but of recognition. For recognition comes of vision and suspended judgment. Then only it is possible to look within and see what must be there, plainly in sight, and wholly independent of inference and judgment. Undoing is not your task, but it is up to you to welcome it or not. Faith and desire go hand in hand, for everyone believes in what he wants. (A Course in Miracles T-21.II.7:6-8;8)

Our insistence on believing what the body’s senses show us is real blocks awareness of the truth. Being an illusion, the body is incapable of recognizing truth. When we believe the body is real, we are believing in a false self-image. The Course is teaching us to redirect our attention to the Holy Spirit in our minds.

As we are willing to accept His vision, we see past all appearances in the world to the truth that only Love is real. It is this willingness to suspend judgment on our own and to be open to Holy Spirit’s lead that lets the truth in. Our practice today is to frequently pause, suspend our judgment and open to Holy Spirit’s inspiration.
