Forgiveness Brings Happiness

The Holy Spirit, ever practical in His wisdom, accepts your dreams and uses them as means for waking. ²You would have used them to remain asleep. ³I said before that the first change, before dreams disappear, is that your dreams of fear are changed to happy dreams. ⁴That is what the Holy Spirit does in the special relationship. ⁵He does not destroy it, nor snatch it away from you. ⁶But He does use it differently, as a help to make His purpose real to you. ⁷The special relationship will remain, not as a source of pain and guilt, but as a source of joy and freedom. ⁸It will not be for you alone, for therein lay its misery. ⁹As its unholiness kept it a thing apart, its holiness will become an offering to everyone.

Your special relationship will be a means for undoing guilt in everyone blessed through your holy relationship. ²It will be a happy dream, and one which you will share with all who come within your sight.

⁴In your relationship the Holy Spirit has gently laid the real world; the world of happy dreams, from which awaking is so easy and so natural. ⁵For as your sleeping and your waking dreams represent the same wishes in your mind, so do the real world and the truth of Heaven join in the Will of God. ⁶The dream of waking is easily transferred to its reality. ⁷For this dream reflects your will joined with the Will of God. ⁸And what this Will would have accomplished has never not been done. God’s Will is always to be Love. His Love extends without limit. As His Son, His extension of Love, our true Will is to be and extend Love.

Our dreams of limitation and individuality seem real only because we picture a world of separation. We make this dream because it seems to offer us specialness that allows us to keep something we have as our own. These are not happy dreams because we have to constantly defend our specialness.

The way to awaken from our dreams is to forgive the wish for specialness. The Holy Spirit is our Guide to help us recognize the wishes that separate us, and let them go. This forgiveness makes way for the Love of our true Self to shine through.

As we forgive, we experience greater peace, happiness and Love. Our forgiving dream becomes a demonstration that helps all our brothers join us in the happy dream. In this happy dream, our will is joined with God’s to be only Love. Today we choose to forgive and be happy.

Accepting Help to Awaken to Love

My sinless brother is my guide to peace.
My sinful brother is my guide to pain.
And which I choose to see I will behold.

Who is my brother but Your holy Son? ²And if I see him sinful I proclaim myself a sinner, not a Son of God; alone and friendless in a fearful world. ³Yet this perception is a choice I make, and can relinquish. ⁴I can also see my brother sinless, as Your holy Son. ⁵And with this choice I see my sinlessness, my everlasting Comforter and Friend beside me, and my way secure and clear. ⁶Choose, then, for me, my Father, through Your Voice. ⁷For He alone gives judgment in Your Name. This dream world is a reflection of our wish for specialness and thus separation. We see some of our brothers as friends and some as adversaries. Adversaries can become allies and friends can be competitors. This only seems possible in a dream where we are separate from everything. Most importantly, it comes with the belief that we successfully separated from the Source of Love, our Creator.

Fortunately we can change our belief. We have been given a Guide in our mind to lead us out of the dream. He teaches us that we are Love and nothing else. If we let Him, He will show us that this Love is shared with everyone. As we learn to recognize the presence of Love, we easily dismiss the dream images that seemed to separate us. We see our oneness instead of our differences. We see the Love instead of fear. We are grateful that we have the Help that we need to awaken to our Home in the Heaven of God’s Love.

Forgiving Grievances Returns Us to Love

Love holds no grievances.

²Grievances are completely alien to love. ³Grievances attack love and keep its light obscure. ⁴If I hold grievances I am attacking love, and therefore attacking my Self. ⁵My Self thus becomes alien to me. ⁶I am determined not to attack my Self today, so that I can remember Who I am.

These specific forms for applying this idea would be helpful:

²This is no justification for denying my Self.
³I will not use this to attack love.
⁴Let this not tempt me to attack myself. (A Course in Miracles, W-84.3:1–4:4. See also ACIM Lesson 84 Insights.)

Grievances take many forms. At their core they are a grievance against God because He could not grant us the specialness the ego demands and remain Himself. The body is the primary symbol of the ego’s grievance against God. By making a dream of individual bodies, the ego made a world of uniqueness and differences. This could only seem to occur in a dream because differences are impossible in the oneness of God’s Love.

Our release from grievances comes with forgiveness. Grievances always depend upon perceiving differences. As we forgive these perceptions with the Holy Spirit’s help, Love comes forth. The Love we are is then allowed to join with the Love in which we live. This Love includes every brother as we recognize we share one Self, God’s Son.

Today we dedicate to letting the Holy Spirit help us heal our grievances that seem to separate us from our Father.

The Idea That Sets Us Free

I am the holy Son of God Himself.

Here is your declaration of release from bondage of the world. ²And here as well is all the world released. ³You do not see what you have done by giving to the world the role of jailer to the Son of God.

Yet what is it except a game you play in which Identity can be denied? ²You are as God created you. ³All else but this one thing is folly to believe. ⁴In this one thought is everyone set free. ⁵In this one truth are all illusions gone. ⁶In this one fact is sinlessness proclaimed to be forever part of everything, the central core of its existence and its guarantee of immortality.

But let today’s idea find a place among your thoughts and you have risen far above the world, and all the worldly thoughts that hold it prisoner. ²And from this place of safety and escape you will return and set it free. ³For he who can accept his true Identity is truly saved. ⁴And his salvation is the gift he gives to everyone, in gratitude to Him Who pointed out the way to happiness that changed his whole perspective of the world. When we identify with a body, we deny our true Identity as God’s Son. In truth, we remain as God created us. This fact is emphasized in 20 lessons that ask us to affirm it daily. We need the repetition to help us break free from our misidentification with the body.

This idea is the basis for forgiveness of the belief that we are separate from our Father. The belief that we can be harmed and capable of harming leads to fear and guilt. Yet our true Identity remains one in His Love, where harm is impossible. In this Identity, we are united in Love with every brother. Today we choose to embrace the world with Love, remembering we are united as everyone as God’s holy Son.

Celebrate the Opportunity to Awaken

There is no end to all the peace and joy, and all the miracles that I will give, when I accept God’s Word. Why not today?

Why should I wait, my Father, for the joy You promised me? ²For You will keep Your Word You gave Your Son in exile. ³I am sure my treasure waits for me, and I need but reach out my hand to find it. ⁴Even now my fingers touch it. ⁵It is very close. ⁶I need not wait an instant more to be at peace forever. ⁷It is You I choose, and my Identity along with You. ⁸Your Son would be Himself, and know You as his Father and Creator, and his Love. In every moment we can choose the joy and peace of God as our own. We make this choice when we forgive our beliefs that deny the truth of What we are. God is indivisible and His Sons remain one with Him.

When we forgive the wish for specialness, the Love we are is revealed. Love never left us. It is hidden only in dreams in which Love and oneness are denied. We can make another choice.

Today we celebrate the opportunity to awaken to the fact that we remain Love as Love created us. As we accept this fact through forgiveness, we bring healing to the world.

Forgiveness Heals Our Mistaken Beliefs

Forgiveness ends the dream of conflict here.

Conflict must be resolved. ²It cannot be evaded, set aside, denied, disguised, seen somewhere else, called by another name, or hidden by deceit of any kind, if it would be escaped. ³It must be seen exactly as it is, where it is thought to be, in the reality which has been given it, and with the purpose that the mind accorded it. ⁴For only then are its defenses lifted, and the truth can shine upon it as it disappears.

Father, forgiveness is the light You chose to shine away all conflict and all doubt, and light the way for our return to You. ²No light but this can end our evil dream. ³No light but this can save the world. ⁴For this alone will never fail in anything, being Your gift to Your beloved Son. Dreams only occur in darkness. We fill the darkness with images that portray what we believe about ourselves. As projections, dreams change when we change our beliefs. The dream comes from the mind that harbors these beliefs.

When we welcome the Light of Love, beliefs are replaced by truth. The images are replaced by the certainty of Reality, the certainty of Love. Today we welcome the Holy Spirit’s help to look at our mistaken beliefs to recognize them for what they are. As we see the beliefs are based on false ideas, the Light the Holy Spirit brings dispels them. Our mind is healed and we awaken in our Home in God’s Love.

Remembering We Are Love

The Word of God is given me to speak.

What is the Word of God? ²“My Son is pure and holy as Myself.” ³And thus did God become the Father of the Son He loves, for thus was he created. ⁴This the Word His Son did not create with Him, because in this His Son was born. ⁵Let us accept His Fatherhood, and all is given us. ⁶Deny we were created in His Love and we deny our Self, to be unsure of Who we are, of Who our Father is, and for what purpose we have come. ⁷And yet, we need but to acknowledge Him Who gave His Word to us in our creation, to remember Him and so recall our Self.

Father, Your Word is mine. ²And it is this that I would speak to all my brothers, who are given me to cherish as my own, as I am loved and blessed and saved by You. (A Course in Miracles, W-276. See also ACIM Lesson 276 Insights.)

God, our Father, is Love. As His Son, we extend His Love. Extending Love is how we speak the Word of God. This is our true and only function.

Love is eternal and unchanging, as It extends forever. But the world we see was made to limit Love, to contain It in forms. To complete our function given us by our Creator, we need to forgive our mistaken perceptions. The reality of Love is all there really is to see. As we let go of the images we perceive, the Light of Love shines forth.

Today is a good day to let go of judgments and let the Love we are radiate and join with the Love in every brother. This is how we remember we are God’s Love.
