The Single Purpose for Every Day

I have given what I see all the meaning it has for me.

²I have judged everything I look upon, and it is this and only this I see. ³This is not vision. ⁴It is merely an illusion of reality, because my judgments have been made quite apart from reality. ⁵I am willing to recognize the lack of validity in my judgments, because I want to see. ⁶My judgments have hurt me, and I do not want to see according to them.

³What I see is the projection of my own errors of thought.

³What I call “my” thoughts are not my real thoughts. ⁴My real thoughts are the thoughts I think with God. ⁵I am not aware of them because I have made my thoughts to take their place. ⁶I am willing to recognize that my thoughts do not mean anything, and to let them go. ⁷I choose to have them be replaced by what they were intended to replace. ⁸My thoughts are meaningless, but all creation lies in the thoughts I think with God. The key to awakening to Love is to remember that everything we see in this world is a projection of our beliefs. We judge everything based on what we believe we are. But if we believe we are a body functioning in a world of form, we are dreaming. Dreams start in our mind and are projected outward. As long as we believe the dream is real, we are trapped by our beliefs.

We have been blessed by our Creator with a Guide to help us learn that what we see is not real. When we are willing to accept the Holy Spirit’s help, we can use His vision to see past the dream to the reality of Love.

The Holy Spirit recognizes our dream but knows that it is not real. He is not deceived by this deception. But He will use the images we believe in to help us let go of the dream. This is what every day is for if we want to awaken to Love. Today we choose to let the Holy Spirit help us think with Love.

Peace of Mind Is Natural

Peace be to me, the holy Son of God. Peace to my brother, who is one with me. Let all the world be blessed with peace through us.

Father, it is Your peace that I would give, receiving it of You. ²I am Your Son, forever just as You created me, for the Great Rays remain forever still and undisturbed within me. ³I would reach to them in silence and in certainty, for nowhere else can certainty be found. ⁴Peace be to me, and peace to all the world. ⁵In holiness were we created, and in holiness do we remain. ⁶Your Son is like to You in perfect sinlessness. ⁷And with this thought we gladly say “Amen.” (A Course in Miracles, W-360. Peace of mind is our natural state. If we are not peaceful, we are dreaming a dream that is not true. This is a signal to pause, step back and quiet our troubled mind. In quietness, all problems are quietly resolved.

Today we commit to being mindful of our thoughts. We ask the Holy Spirit to help us release the mistaken beliefs that are disturbing our peace. As we accept His help, we help bring peace to the world.

Remembering the Eternal Presence of Love

No call to God can be unheard nor left unanswered. And of this I can be sure; His answer is the one I really want.

You Who remember what I really am alone remember what I really want. ²You speak for God, and so You speak for me. ³And what You give me comes from God Himself. ⁴Your Voice, my Father, then is mine as well, and all I want is what You offer me, in just the form You choose that it be mine. ⁵Let me remember all I do not know, and let my voice be still, remembering. ⁶But let me not forget Your Love and care, keeping Your promise to Your Son in my awareness always. ⁷Let me not forget myself is nothing, but my Self is all. All of us in this world want to know that we are loved and know that we are Love. We seek for Love because we have identified with the ego thought of separation. It leaves us feeling that we have left God, the Source of Love.

Yet God created us one with Him, united with His Love. He gave us His Voice to help us remember the Love we are. As we listen to His Voice, we learn to look past the images of this world to recognize Love’s presence.

Love has no form. It extends to all eternally. Love is our true Self, God’s Son. Today we practice pausing to pay attention to God’s Answer. It teaches us the forms do not matter because the presence of formless Love is all that’s real. This is our focus for today.

The Simplicity of Atonement

My sinlessness protects me from all harm.

My sinlessness ensures me perfect peace, eternal safety, everlasting love, freedom forever from all thought of loss; complete deliverance from suffering. ²And only happiness can be my state, for only happiness is given me. ³What must I do to know all this is mine? ⁴I must accept Atonement for myself, and nothing more. ⁵God has already done all things that need be done. ⁶And I must learn I need do nothing of myself, for I need but accept my Self, my sinlessness, created for me, now already mine, to feel God’s Love protecting me from harm, to understand my Father loves His Son; to know I am the Son my Father loves.

You Who created me in sinlessness are not mistaken about what I am. ²I was mistaken when I thought I sinned, but I accept Atonement for myself. ³Father, my dream is ended now. ⁴Amen. (A Course in Miracles, W-337. See also ACIM Lesson 337 Insights.)

Accepting the Atonement is simple, but it seems to be difficult. This is only because we have thoroughly invested our belief in a separate identity which suffers loss and pain, lacks Love and feels guilty for abandoning God.

We are assured that what we perceive is only a dream. This dream will disappear when we forgive our belief that we are separate and alone. Forgiveness is the key that awakens us to the fact that we remain Love as God created us.

The Holy Spirit was given us to teach us that our beliefs about being separate are not true. We never succeeded in separating from Love. In truth, we cannot harm nor be harmed. Our true Self continues to extend God’s Love as part of His Creation. Today we ask the Holy Spirit to help us let go of our judgments to see the presence of Love and accept Atonement.

Accepting Holy Spirit’s Loving Correction

I am affected only by my thoughts.

It needs but this to let salvation come to all the world. ²For in this single thought is everyone released at last from fear. ³Now has he learned that no one frightens him, and nothing can endanger him. ⁴He has no enemies, and he is safe from all external things. ⁵His thoughts can frighten him, but since these thoughts belong to him alone, he has the power to change them and exchange each fear thought for a happy thought of love. ⁶He crucified himself. ⁷Yet God has planned that His beloved Son will be redeemed.

Your plan is sure, my Father,—only Yours. ²All other plans will fail. ³And I will have thoughts that will frighten me, until I learn that You have given me the only Thought that leads me to salvation. ⁴Mine alone will fail, and lead me nowhere. ⁵But the Thought You gave me promises to lead me home, because it holds Your promise to Your Son. The Holy Spirit is the Thought God gave us in our mind to lead us Home. This Thought is our best Friend, for Its purpose is to awaken us to God’s Love. The Holy Spirit is always present in our mind. It cannot leave us because It is our true Self at one with our Father.

All our distress and unhappiness in the world comes from believing we have separated from our Source. The Holy Spirit’s purpose is to help us undo our mistaken beliefs. As we are willing to accept His help, we learn to see the Love that surrounds us and is in us. As we open our minds to His loving correction, we find peace and happiness that is part of the Love we have always been. And we give thanks.

Seeing with Forgiving Eyes

I choose to see my brother’s sinlessness.

Forgiveness is a choice. ²I never see my brother as he is, for that is far beyond perception. ³What I see in him is merely what I wish to see, because it stands for what I want to be the truth. ⁴It is to this alone that I respond, however much I seem to be impelled by outside happenings. ⁵I choose to see what I would look upon, and this I see, and only this. ⁶My brother’s sinlessness shows me that I would look upon my own. ⁷And I will see it, having chosen to behold my brother in its holy light.

What could restore Your memory to me, except to see my brother’s sinlessness? ²His holiness reminds me that he was created one with me, and like myself. ³In him I find my Self, and in Your Son I find the memory of You as well. (A Course in Miracles, W-335. See also ACIM Lesson 335 Insights.)

This world is a dream, and we are the dreamer of the dream. Everything we perceive is a reflection of what we believe we are. If we believe we are separate and different, we will see a world of separate images and differences.

When we forgive the wish to be separate, we will see the universe of Love in which we live. In this universe, all is one; there are no differences. We are united with all there is as the one Son of our Father.

Forgiveness is necessary in the dream because it releases the judgments that reflect our belief in separation. Today we choose to see our brother as the Love he is. With this vision, we see our brother forgiven and learn that we are released along with him. We remember the one Self God created eternally one with Himself.

Using the Body to Awaken from the Dream

My body is a wholly neutral thing.

I am a Son of God. ²And can I be another thing as well? ³Did God create the mortal and corruptible? ⁴What use has God’s beloved Son for what must die? ⁵And yet a neutral thing does not see death, for thoughts of fear are not invested there, nor is a mockery of love bestowed upon it. ⁶Its neutrality protects it while it has a use. ⁷And afterwards, without a purpose, it is laid aside. ⁸It is not sick nor old nor hurt. ⁹It is but functionless, unneeded and cast off. ¹⁰Let me not see it more than this today; of service for a while and fit to serve, to keep its usefulness while it can serve, and then to be replaced for greater good.

My body, Father, cannot be Your Son. ²And what is not created cannot be sinful nor sinless; neither good nor bad. ³Let me, then, use this dream to help Your plan that we awaken from all dreams we made. (A Course in Miracles, W-294)

We are not a body, we are spirit—a Son of God. As God’s creation, we are His extension of Love, and nothing else.

The body has a purpose in the dream. It can be used to as a means to help remove the dream’s barriers to Love. It is a means for communication in the dream of separation. We need this means as a bridge to help us awaken from the dream.

Today we ask the Holy Spirit to help us bring healing forgiveness to the world. As we use the body as a means to extend Love, the body serves a meaningful purpose. This is our vocation.
