Opening the Door to God’s Light

Only by fulfilling the function given you by God will you be happy. That is because your function is to be happy by using the means by which happiness becomes inevitable. There is no other way. Therefore, every time you choose whether or not to fulfill your function [to forgive], you are really choosing whether or not to be happy. (A Course in Miracles, W-pI.64.4)

When we open the door to God’s Light, we are perceiving as the Holy Spirit sees. Light sees only Light. Darkness sees only darkness. When we open the door to the Light, our mind is enlightened and peace, joy and happiness come with it automatically.

We open the door to God’s Light by forgiving. Happiness is the inevitable result of forgiveness, of seeing innocence. If we are not happy, we are not seeing innocence.
