Simple, Uncomplicated Love

Today is a day of opening to Holy Spirit’s perspective… Today is a day of receiving Holy Spirit’s gifts of peace and Love… Today is a day of letting Holy Spirit remind us of the truth behind images of separation… As we practice this today, we are reminded of Holy Spirit’s simple, uncomplicated Love… As we let Love carry us, we learn our lessons of forgiveness all through the day.

We Are Joined in God’s Wholeness

We are the joint will of the Sonship, whose Wholeness is for all. We begin the journey back by setting out together, and gather in our brothers as we continue together. Every gain in our strength is offered for all, so they too can lay aside their weakness and add their strength to us. God’s welcome waits for us all, and He will welcome us as I am welcoming you. Forget not the Kingdom of God for anything the world has to offer. (A Course in Miracles, T-8.VI.1.)

We accept every brother’s wholeness in God as we remember that they are joined with us in the one Christ Mind. Because we all share the same Mind, and we are only Mind, not bodies, there can be no division between us. Because we share one Mind in truth, all sense of conflict and division is illusion and illusions mean nothing.

Our practice for today is to let this truth sink in deeply and apply it to every situation we encounter through the day. We are joined in God’s wholeness. That recognition as we go through the day changes how we see ourselves and how we see everyone in this world. God’s Kingdom is for all. All that is real is in God’s Kingdom. That is why the Course reminds us that “Nothing real [God’s Kingdom] can be threatened. Nothing unreal [differences, conflict] exists. Herein lies the peace of God.” We do not have to believe we are threatened by what is unreal. Only Love is real. Only Love heals. Nothing else exists. For this we give thanks. Learning this is what today is for.

Only Your Will, Holy Spirit

This is our prayer for today:
Holy Spirit, we would not decide on our own what anything means in this world. We open to Your inspiration, Holy Spirit, and only want Your will be done. We remember Your will is our will.

We ask for Your clarity and Light to guide our way today. We choose peace and follow in the way You lead us. We are grateful we have You as our inner Teacher Who is right here, waiting to bring Light to every situation. And for this we give thanks.

Learning to Recognize True Value

When you are still an instant, when the world recedes from you, when valueless ideas cease to have value in your restless mind, then will you hear His Voice. So poignantly He calls to you that you will not resist Him longer. In that instant He will take you to His home, and you will stay with Him in perfect stillness, silent and at peace, beyond all words, untouched by fear and doubt, sublimely certain that you are at home. (A Course in Miracles, W-pI.182.8)

All we really want is the Love of God. We already have It but don’t know It because we are valuing a wish to be separate with our own unique identity. We are trying to be what we could never be in truth. We cannot know Love while we believe we are separate.

The world we perceive is an outward picture of an inner wish to be special. This picture stands between us and the awareness of the Love we are. The way to see past this interference is to let the Holy Spirit be our Interpreter in every moment. While we insist on the meaning that we give to what we see, we are not open to the Holy Spirit’s interpretation.

As the early workbook lesson teaches us, we do not know what anything means. Reminding ourselves of this frequently helps us loosen the values we give to the valueless images of the world. It opens our minds to receive the Holy Spirit’s interpretation in place of the interpretations we have made based on our mistaken values.

Today our practice is to ask of everything, “What is this for?” With an open mind, we let the Holy Spirit teach us what is valuable and what is not. This clears the way for us to recognize that we already have the Love we seek.

Willingness to Behold the Christ

One brother is all brothers. Every mind contains all minds, for every mind is one.

Give me your blessing, holy Son of God. I would behold you with the eyes of Christ, and see my perfect sinlessness in you.

Behold him now, whom you have seen as merely flesh and bone, and recognize that Christ has come to you. Today’s idea is your safe escape from anger and from fear.” (A Course in Miracles, W-pI.161.4:1-2;11:7-8;12:3-4)

It is quite a blessing to remember that one brother is all brothers and that every mind is one. As we remember this we are so blessed because it returns us to our one true Identity.

Today we would be good to ourselves; we will be kind and gentle as we allow ourselves to be showered with the blessings that come with remembering the truth. Our practice for today is to apply this to every brother we meet or even think of — one brother is all brothers, for every mind is one. This person we have thought of as a separate individual now becomes our healing partner in helping us awaken from dreams of separation. Oh what joy comes as we allow ourselves to return to the truth.

Accepting Holy Spirit’s Perspective

The Holy Spirit asks only this little help of you: Whenever your thoughts wander to a special relationship which still attracts you, enter with Him into a holy instant, and there let Him release you. He needs only your willingness to share His perspective to give it to you completely. And your willingness need not be complete because His is perfect. It is His task to atone for your unwillingness by His perfect faith, and it is His faith you share with Him there. Out of your recognition of your unwillingness for your release, His perfect willingness is given you. Call upon Him, for Heaven is at His Call. And let Him call on Heaven for you. (A Course in Miracles, T-16.VI.12)

When we believe that what the body’s senses show us is real, we are accepting the ego’s distorted perspective. We are seeing from the perspective of being separate, which could never be in Truth. The first step to release from this distorted perspective is the recognition that we are unwilling to see it differently and need help. The next step is to go to the Source of meaningful help, which is not the ego.

When we turn to the Holy Spirit in our minds, He will give us His strength, His faith in the Truth in us, to carry us past our unwillingness. His willingness supersedes our unwillingness as we recognize our need for help and ask for His. In gentleness and Love, He will show us His perspective, which shines away the meaningless images of separation and shows us our unity with all in Love.

Today our practice is to ask for Holy Spirit’s help to see His perspective. As we accept Holy Spirit’s help, it will be a day of happiness as we recognize our brother’s as our one Self at Home in Love.

Accepting Holy Spirit’s Gift of Peace

Whenever you are tempted to undertake a useless journey that would lead away from light, remember what you really want, and say:

The Holy Spirit leads me unto Christ, and where else would I go? What need have I but to awake in Him?

Then follow Him in joy, with faith that He will lead you safely through all dangers to your peace of mind this world may set before you. Kneel not before the altars to sacrifice, and seek not what you will surely lose. Content yourself with what you will as surely keep, and be not restless, for you undertake a quiet journey to the peace of God, where He would have you be in quietness. (A Course in Miracles, T-13.VII.14-15.)

Peace is our inheritance because we were created in peace. If we are not experiencing peace then we are simply denying the gift already given us. It’s as though we have taken our greatest treasure, locked it away in a dark room and forgotten where we put it.

This is the effect of believing that we are separate from our Creator. And so we go on countless journeys seeking for peace, having forgotten where it is. This need not be. We have a Thought within our mind that remembers where peace is and holds that memory for us, waiting for us to accept the Thought that would guide us back to our completion.

Today we would remind ourselves frequently to open our minds to the Holy Spirit’s lead and accept His guidance to the peace we have hidden away. Today we would welcome peace and accept the gift we have been given. And we would extend peace to our brother that we may know we have it.
