Accepting the Certainty of God’s Love

Where is sacrifice, when memory of God has come to take the place of loss? What better way to close the little gap between illusions and reality than to allow the memory of God to flow across it, making it a bridge an instant will suffice to reach beyond? For God has closed [the little gap] with Himself. His memory has not gone by, and left a stranded Son forever on a shore where he can glimpse another shore which he can never reach. His Father wills that he be lifted up and gently carried over. He has built the bridge, and it is He Who will transport His Son across it. Have no fear that He will fail in what He wills. Nor that you be excluded from the Will that is for you. (A Course in Miracles, T-28.I.15:2-9. See also ACIM Text Q & A.)

God has not forgotten His Son. The only reason it feels like God is far away or even nonexistent is because we have convinced ourselves that we are not His Son. We have convince ourselves that the impossible is true. The whole “life” experience we have in the world is based on the specious belief that we have successfully separated from God.

Since God is everything, separation leaves us with nothing. So we have to make up stories of existence in a world of form with birth and death, conflict and fear, guilt and punishment. We feel abandoned by God yet it is we who have abandoned Him. Our world is inconceivable to the oneness of Love and seems to exist only in a little gap of time carved out of eternity.

Our fantasy of loss has not changed God. His Love remains intact, eternally extended to His Son. We can reclaim His Love by letting go of the past we have conjured up that hides His ever-present Love. We need but be still an instant and welcome Him. His Love will bridge the little gap that we have believed in but was never true. In that instant we remember our Creator and know with perfect certainty that we are loved.

Learning to See the Love in Our Brother

I am entitled to miracles. I am entitled to miracles because I am under no laws but God’s. His laws release me from all grievances, and replace them with miracles. And I would accept the miracles in place of the grievances, which are but illusions that hide the miracles beyond. Now I would accept only what the laws of God entitle me to have, that I may use it on behalf of the function He has given me. (A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson 89, W-pI.89.1. God’s laws are the laws of Love. Love sees only innocence and unity. Love does not condemn. Love knows only joy. These are the laws of God that apply in each present moment.

When we hold a grievance, judge anyone, believe anyone’s identity is a body, we are believing in separation and denying the laws of God. The ego treasures grievances because it hides the miracle of oneness from our awareness. Grievances are always based on what we think in the past. Grievances are an attempt to cover up the present moment with images from the past, thus preventing us from experiencing the miracle of Love. The last thing the ego wants us to accept is God’s Love, for it would be the end of the ego.

Each time we experience upset, guilt, sadness, anger or hate, we are rejecting the laws of God in favor of the ego’s rule. But we always have a choice. We can choose another Guide who will show us the miracle of Love that is present now. As we follow the Holy Spirit’s lead, we learn to see past the ego’s false images to the eternal Love to which we are entitled. We see the Love in our brother and remember the Love we are each time we choose the Holy Spirit’s vision in place of the ego’s hallucinations.

Today we choose to accept God’s laws of Love.

Willingness to Accept God’s Gifts

He has remembered you. Today we will remember Him. For this is Eastertime in your salvation. And you rise again from what was seeming death and hopelessness. Now is the light of hope reborn in you, for now you come without defense, to learn the part for you within the plan of God. What little plans or magical beliefs can still have value, when you have received your function from the Voice for God Himself?”

…remind yourself this is a special day for learning, and acknowledge it with this:

This is my Eastertime [resurrection from seeming death and hopelessness].
And I would keep it holy.
I will not defend myself, because the Son of God
needs no defense against the truth of his reality. (A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson 135, W-pI.135.25;26:5-7. See also ACIM Lesson 135 Insights.)

When we believe our identity is in a body in a world of form, we are unaware of our true Identity in the unity of Spirit. With this mistaken identification, it seems like sacrifice to give up our identity. Yet this false identity is itself a sacrifice of the Love, peace and joy of our true Identity in God.

Letting go of the false identity is really letting go of nothing, an empty dream, to make way to remember the Life we live in God. What better investment could we make than to invest our belief in the truth, which brings us everything as we withdraw our belief in a false identity which offers nothing.

Today we remember that all we really want is already given us. We are willing to accept God’s gifts now.

Experience Love by Answering Calls for Love

Love created me like itself.

I am in the likeness of my Creator. I cannot suffer, I cannot experience loss and I cannot die. I am not a body. I would recognize my reality today. I will worship no idols, nor raise my own self-concept to replace my Self. I am in the likeness of my Creator. Love created me like itself.

You might find these specific forms helpful in applying the idea:

Let me not see an illusion of myself in this.
As I look on this, let me remember my Creator.

Our Self is not a body nor any form. Our Self is Love created by Love like Itself. Love is one and sees only Love, for nothing else is real.

Today we choose to see through the eyes of Love. Love does not condemn nor hold grievances. Love’s nature is peaceful and joyful. If we are not experiencing this, we are denying the Love we are. We are giving precedence to a false self image.

The antidote for this error is to ask for help to see as Love sees once again. Love will always guide us to be truly helpful with our thoughts and actions. Love will remind us that beyond our perceptions in the world is always the Reality of Love. If this Reality seems to be hidden, it is a call for Love. Love will answer the call through us if we are willing. Each time we offer Love we teach ourselves that we are Love.

Following the Guide to Happiness

The world is false perception. It is born of error, and it has not left its source. It will remain no longer than the thought that gave it birth is cherished. When the thought of separation has been changed to one of true forgiveness, will the world be seen in quite another light; and one which leads to truth, where all the world must disappear and all its errors vanish.

As sight was made to lead away from truth, it can be redirected. Sounds become the call for God, and all perception can be given a new purpose by the One Whom God appointed Savior to the world. Follow His light, and see the world as He beholds it. Hear His Voice alone in all that speaks to you. And let Him give you peace and certainty, which you have thrown away, but Heaven has preserved for you in Him. (A Course in Miracles Workbook, Part II, 3, W-pII.3.1:1-4;4. If we want to be happy, we need to follow the Guide to happiness. This Guide’s sole purpose is to lead us to the perfect happiness God Wills for us. As we let Him guide all our perceptions, the circumstances that once brought us fear are recognized as calls for Love. With His help, we offer Love’s answer and we experience the joy of extending Love. Simultaneously, we teach ourselves that we are Love. Today we practice following the Guide to happiness.

Finding True Happiness

And so today we do not choose the way in which we go to Him. But we do choose to let Him come. And with this choice we rest. And in our quiet hearts and open minds, His Love will blaze its pathway of itself. …God knows His Son, and knows the way to him. He does not need His Son to show Him how to find His way. Through every opened door His Love shines outward from its home within, and lightens up the world in innocence.

Father, we do not know the way to You. But we have called, and You have answered us. We will not interfere. Salvation’s ways are not our own, for they belong to You. And it is unto You we look for them. Our hands are open to receive Your gifts. We have no thoughts we think apart from You, and cherish no beliefs of what we are, or Who created us. Yours is the way that we would find and follow. And we ask but that Your Will, which is our own as well, be done in us and in the world, that it become a part of Heaven now. Amen. We need to learn that nothing in the world of separation can bring us lasting happiness. God’s Will for us is perfect happiness. But the world of separation is the denial of God’s Will and therefore is the denial of happiness.

To surrender to God’s Will seems like loss to us. We believe it will require us to give up everything we value. This is true. But what we value is simply empty shells with no value of their own. We have been deceiving ourselves by believing bodies, relationships and things in the world have value. Yet of themselves they are empty and ultimately will always disappoint us. Seeking for happiness in the world is seeking to not find.

To find what we really want, to find true happiness, we need to seek it where it can be found — in the memory of our oneness with God’s Love. We do not need to seek for Love, for it is already ours. We need only seek to recognize the barriers we have built against it and let them go. This is what forgiveness offers. This is the Holy Spirit’s function: To help us recognize what is not true, see the truth beyond it and let go of the false.

Remembering Our Innocence

God is my life. I have no life but His.

I was mistaken when I thought I lived apart from God, a separate entity that moved in isolation, unattached, and housed within a body. Now I know my life is God’s, I have no other home, and I do not exist apart from Him. He has no Thoughts that are not part of me, and I have none but those which are of Him.

Our Father, let us see the face of Christ instead of our mistakes. For we who are Your holy Son are sinless. We would look upon our sinlessness, for guilt proclaims that we are not Your Son. And we would not forget You longer. We are lonely here, and long for Heaven, where we are at home. Today we would return. Our Name is Yours, and we acknowledge that we are Your Son. When we ask to see the face of Christ, we are asking to see only innocence. There can be no perception of guilt with the vision of Christ. Our true Self sees only innocence.

As we shift our attention from the ego’s illusions of guilt and separation to Christ’s vision of innocence and oneness, we remember our Home in the heart of God. Loneliness fades away. Fear and guilt fade away. Sadness fades away. We rest in the Heaven of God’s Presence, our Home.

Today we dedicate to giving Christ’s vision top priority.
