We Choose to Accept God’s Help

No one can fail who seeks to reach the truth, and it is truth we seek to reach today. …we will ask to see the rising of the real world to replace the foolish images that we hold dear, with true ideas arising in the place of thoughts that have no meaning, no effect, and neither source nor substance in the truth.

You cannot fail today. There walks with you the Spirit Heaven sent you, that you might approach this door some day, and through His aid slip effortlessly past it, to the light. Today that day has come.

Today is set by Heaven itself to be a time of grace for you and for the world. If you forget this happy fact, remind yourself with this:

Today I seek and find all that I want.
My single purpose offers it to me.

Because we were created by Love as Love, all we really want is to remember we are Love. And by Love’s nature, all we want to do is extend Love.

By God’s grace we have been given the Help we need to move past the dark and loveless world we have made to the Light of Heaven. Today we choose to accept this help.

Joining God’s Circle of Love

Today I let Christ’s vision look upon
All things for me and judge them not, but give
Each one a miracle of love instead.

So would I liberate all things I see, and give to them the freedom that I seek. For thus do I obey the law of love, and give what I would find and make my own. It will be given me, because I have chosen it as the gift I want to give. Father, Your gifts are mine. Each one that I accept gives me a miracle to give. And giving as I would receive, I learn Your healing miracles belong to me.

Our Father knows our needs. He gives us grace to meet them all. And so we trust in Him to send us miracles to bless the world, and heal our minds as we return to Him. (A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson 349, W-pII.349. See also ACIM Lesson 349 Insights.)

The world we experience with the body is the effect of denying God’s gift of perfect Love. It comes with the belief that to give is to lose and what we receive is taken from the giver.

But in the reality of God’s Love, giving and receiving are the same because Love is one. Thus to accept and experience God’s gift of Love we must give It. This is the full circle demonstration of giving and receiving are the same. When we accept Christ’s vision, which sees innocence with nonjudgment, we see the innocence in ourselves. 

This is why the Course puts so much emphasis on reminding us that giving and receiving are the same. As we practice seeing innocence with Christ’s vision and extending Love to all, we learn of our own innocence and Love. We free ourselves from guilt and fear as we free our brothers.

Today we practice choosing Christ’s vision all through the day.

Bringing the Gift of Love to the World

Knowledge will return when we have done our part. We are concerned only with giving welcome to the truth.

Ours are the eyes through which Christ’s vision sees a world redeemed from every thought of sin. Ours are the ears that hear the Voice for God proclaim the world as sinless. Ours the minds that join together as we bless the world. And from the oneness that we have attained we call to all our brothers, asking them to share our peace and consummate our joy. We welcome the truth. We welcome Love. Love knows only innocence, sees only innocence and extends only Love. God gave us only Love. If we want to know and be our Self, we need to accept His gift of Love without reservation.

The world we see with the body’s eyes is a defense against the oneness of Love. If we want to remember our Self, we need to choose Christ’s vision in place of what the body’s eyes show us.

Today we choose to welcome truth by letting Christ’s vision take precidence over what the body’s eyes see. This is how we bring the gift of Love to replace the projection of guilt and fear.

God’s Love, Joy and Peace Are Ours Now

It is your thoughts alone that cause you pain. Nothing external to your mind can hurt or injure you in any way. There is no cause beyond yourself that can reach down and bring oppression. No one but yourself affects you. There is nothing in the world that has the power to make you ill or sad, or weak or frail. But it is you who have the power to dominate all things you see by merely recognizing what you are. As you perceive the harmlessness in them, they will accept your holy will as theirs. And what was seen as fearful now becomes a source of innocence and holiness.

My holy brother, think of this awhile: The world you see does nothing. It has no effects at all. It merely represents your thoughts. And it will change entirely as you elect to change your mind, and choose the joy of God as what you really want. Your Self is radiant in this holy joy, unchanged, unchanging and unchangeable, forever and forever. (A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson 190, W-pI.190.5:1-6:5. See also ACIM Lesson 190 Insights.)

We are responsible for everything we experience. There is no “other” that can impose its will upon us or bring us harm. This is good news because it means that if we are not happy and at peace we can choose once again. We can choose to accept the will we share with God, which offers us only perfect peace and happiness.

Today we choose to recognize that our will is united with God’s Will — one and the same. Today we lay aside the false images of pain and suffering and accept the truth that God’s Love, joy and peace are ours now.

Accepting Our Perfect Self

God goes with me wherever I go. How can I be alone when God always goes with me? How can I be doubtful and unsure of myself when perfect certainty abides in Him? How can I be disturbed by anything when He rests in me in absolute peace? How can I suffer when love and joy surround me through Him? Let me not cherish illusions about myself. I am perfect because God goes with me wherever I go.

God is my strength. Vision is His gift. Let me not look to my own eyes to see today. Let me be willing to exchange my pitiful illusion of seeing for the vision that is given by God. Christ’s vision is His gift, and He has given it to me. Let me call upon this gift today, so that this day may help me to understand eternity. (A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson 59, W-pI.59.1-2. Our true Self is wholly unaffected by the chaos of the world seen through the body’s eyes. Our true Self is perfect Love and sees only perfect Love. As we choose God’s gift of Christ’s vision, we will see the same perfect Love everywhere. Christ’s vision shows us the peace and changeless certainty of God. This is our Home, where we were created to be and still remain. We can claim it now.

Each time we choose Christ’s vision over the ego’s perception of separation, guilt and fear, we are clearing the way to remembering our Home. Today we choose Christ’s vision to guide our seeing that we may recognize the perfection of our one Self everywhere.

Learning Holy Spirit’s Lessons in Love

I seek my own Identity, and find It in these words: “Love, which created me, is what I am.” Now need I seek no more. Love has prevailed. So still It waited for my coming home, that I will turn away no longer from the holy face of Christ. And what I look upon attests the truth of the Identity I sought to lose, but which my Father has kept safe for me.

Father, my thanks to You for what I am; for keeping my Identity untouched and sinless, in the midst of all the thoughts of sin my foolish mind made up. And thanks to You for saving me from them. Amen. (A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson 229, W-pII.229. See also ACIM Lesson 229 Insights.)

Love sees only Love, for only Love is real. As I let the Holy Spirit teach me to look past the images of the world I made, I will see the Love He sees.

As I acknowledge the Love in my brother, I acknowledge It in myself. As my judgments deny the Love I am, forgiveness helps me remember that I am Love. I want to forgive truly and I am willing to be taught to remember What I am.

Today I am willing to accept the Holy Spirit’s lessons in Love and learn that I am Love.

Returning to Love, Our Self

…truth remains forever living in the joy of love. And this [is] the choice to recognize the Self Whom God created as the Son He loves, and Who remains my one Identity.

Father, Your Name is Love and so is mine. Such is the truth. And can the truth be changed by merely giving it another name? The name of fear is simply a mistake. Let me not be afraid of truth today. (A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson 282, W-pII.282.1:3-2:5. See also ACIM Lesson 282 Insights.)

A Course in Miracles is training us to return to Love — our true Identity. Our true Identity has never changed, but we have covered It over with images of many names that hide our true Identity from our awareness. Yet the Love we are remains ever present, waiting only on our acceptance to be experienced.

Learning to forgive, to look past all the made up images is the way we return to the Love that is our true Self. If we want to experience Love, we have to give up all of our judgments and let the Holy Spirit judge everything on our behalf. The Holy Spirit sees only Love and dismisses any appearance of lack of Love as meaningless and nothing. This means we must give up our judgments of fear and guilt of anyone and anything.

Holy Spirit, we give our thoughts to you today. Teach us to see them truly so that we may learn that only Love is real.
