Dwelling in the Presence of Love

…he who has escaped all fear of future pain has found his way to present peace, and certainty of care the world can never threaten.

Place, then, your future in the Hands of God. For thus you call the memory of Him to come again, replacing all your thoughts of sin (separation) and evil (guilt) with the truth of love. …Who entrusts himself to God has also placed the world within the Hands to which he has himself appealed for comfort and security. He lays aside the sick illusions of the world along with his, and offers peace to both.

Now are we saved indeed. For in God’s Hands we rest untroubled, sure that only good can come to us. If we forget, we will be gently reassured. If we accept an unforgiving thought, it will be soon replaced by love’s reflection. And if we are tempted to attack (judge), we will appeal to Him Who guards our rest to make the choice for us that leaves temptation far behind. The only reason we experience fear and guilt, sickness and loss, is because we have refused to accept God’s gift of all His Love, peace and joy. His gifts are already ours. It is only our denial that makes them unknown to us.

When we place the future in God’s hands, we are reclaiming His gifts. We are choosing against the ego’s belief in separation and guilt. We make this choice moment by moment by choosing the Holy Spirit as our Guide. With His help, we learn to let go of judgment, to forgive, and see with the eyes of Love. This is the vision forgiveness offers. It is the vision that sees a future where Love prevails. All sense of loss disappears. All pain of guilt is forgotten, for we dwell in the presence of God’s changeless Love.

Joy Comes by Accepting God’s Will as Ours

A happy outcome to all things is sure.

God’s promises make no exceptions. And He guarantees that only joy can be the final outcome found for everything. Yet it is up to us when this is reached; how long we let an alien will appear to be opposing His. And while we think this will is real, we will not find the end He has appointed as the outcome of all problems we perceive, all trials we see, and every situation that we meet. Yet is the ending certain. For God’s Will is done in earth and Heaven. We will seek and we will find according to His Will, which guarantees that our will is done.

We thank You, Father, for Your guarantee of only happy outcomes in the end. Help us not interfere, and so delay the happy endings You have promised us for every problem that we can perceive; for every trial we think we still must meet. The ego is an impostor offering an alien “will” that is 100% in opposition to God’s Will. It denies everything that is real and can only offer artificial substitutes that will never satisfy our true Will, which is to share God’s joy. When we identify with the ego, we are denying our own true will. We are choosing illusions over truth, empty images in place of the Reality of God’s eternal happiness.

The ego sends us on countless meaningless journeys leading to nothing in the end. Sometimes the images it offers seems to please us, both they never last. Now is the time to choose our true Identity which shares the Will of God. Now we can choose true and lasting happiness.

The Holy Spirit is offering us the vision of truth in place of ego illusions, which blind us to the truth. Together we are the one Self God created as His Son, eternally one with Him. Let us join together in accepting God’s joy by following the Guide Who leads us Home.

Following the Holy Spirit, 24/7

I am in need of nothing but the truth.

I sought for many things, and found despair. Now do I seek but one, for in that one is all I need, and only what I need. All that I sought before I needed not, and did not even want. My only need I did not recognize. But now I see that I need only truth. In that all needs are satisfied, all cravings end, all hopes are finally fulfilled and dreams are gone. Now have I everything that I could need. Now have I everything that I could want. And now at last I find myself at peace.

And for that peace, our Father, we give thanks. What we denied ourselves You have restored, and only that is what we really want. (A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson 251, W-pII.251. See also ACIM Lesson 251 Insights.)

The needs of the world are the ego’s needs. The ego has denied what God has given to all His creation. To satisfy its made up needs, the ego makes up illusions that temporarily seem to meet its needs. But they never last because they are not real. We think these needs are ours because we have identified with the ego. But the ego is not us.

Our only real need is to be what we were created to be — to be one with God and all Love. This is not actually a need at all because it is What we are. But we need to accept what we have already been given. We accept this eternal gift by letting go of our identification with the ego and its false needs. We do this by following the Holy Spirit’s guidance in all that we do and think, 24/7.

Choosing the Guide Who Knows the Way Home

This day is God’s. It is my gift to Him.

I will not lead my life alone today. I do not understand the world, and so to try to lead my life alone must be but foolishness. But there is One Who knows all that is best for me. And He is glad to make no choices for me but the ones that lead to God. I give this day to Him, for I would not delay my coming home, and it is He Who knows the way to God.

And so we give today to You. We come with wholly open minds. We do not ask for anything that we may think we want. Give us what You would have received by us. You know all our desires and our wants. And You will give us everything we need in helping us to find the way to You. (A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson 242, W-pII.242. See also ACIM Lesson 242 Insights.)

In every moment we choose a guide to follow. One guide is an impostor who has no clue what path to take tho lead us to our true Home. It always directs us on myriad paths guaranteed not to lead us to what we really want. It is insane to choose a guide whose goal is “seek and do not find.” This is the guide we choose when we follow the ego’s dictates.

But in our minds we have a Guide Who knows the way to lead us to our true Home in the Love of God. He knows where we believe we are but He does not believe in it. He guides us through the jungle of ego illusions we believe in to recognize they have no substance. In their place He shows us the changeless Love that is eternally present.

To claim His guidance, we need only be willing to let the Holy Spirit choose all things on our behalf. He will always choose what will help us remember our true Self which God created one with Him. Under His guidance, the jungle fades away and the Light of Love dawns upon our mind.

Trusting in the Changelessness of Love

Trusting [the truth in] your brothers is essential to establishing and holding up your faith in your ability to transcend doubt and lack of sure conviction in yourself. When you attack [judge] a brother, you proclaim that he is limited by what you have perceived in him. You do not look beyond his errors. Rather, they are magnified, becoming blocks to your awareness of the Self that lies beyond your own mistakes, and past his seeming sins as well as yours.

Remove your focus on your brother’s sins, and you experience the peace that comes from faith in sinlessness.

We seek for innocence and nothing else.

…as our focus goes beyond mistakes, we will behold a wholly sinless world. When seeing [innocence] is all we want to see, when this is all we seek for in the name of true perception, are the eyes of Christ inevitably ours. The ego cannot see innocence because guilt is the foundation on which the seeming reality of separation is built. We cannot perceive guilt without judgment. Judgment is only possible when something is perceived as separate from us. Thus judgment is the ego’s chief defense against the oneness and innocence of God’s Love.

But we can learn to see the innocence that is the truth in every brother, including ourselves. It is already there to be seen. We just need to shift our focus. As we let the Holy Spirit help us focus on the innocence and Love that is the truth in our brother, we see with Christ’s vision. Now we can trust our brother because we are trusting in the changeless Love he is. Only Love is real. Trusting in God’s Love brings peace because It never changes.

The Voice Calling Us Home

This world you seem to live in is not home to you. And some­where in your mind you know that this is true. A memory of home keeps haunting you, as if there were a place that called you to return, although you do not recognize the voice, nor what it is the voice reminds you of. Yet still you feel an alien here, from somewhere all unknown.

We speak today for everyone who walks this world, for he is not at home. He goes uncertainly about in endless search, seek­ing in darkness what he cannot find; not recognizing what it is he seeks. A thousand homes he makes, yet none contents his restless mind. He does not understand he builds in vain. The home he seeks can not be made by him. There is no substitute for Heaven. All he ever made was hell.

When you are still an instant, when the world recedes from you, when valueless ideas cease to have value in your restless mind, then will you hear His Voice.

The memory of our true Home is forever in our mind. It is the part of our mind that accepts the thoughts we share with God — our true Self. This Self has never left its Home. It shares the changelessness of God’s Love. This is Who we truly are.

But the world we experience is a dream made by the part of the mind that believes it is separate from our Source. This dream can never be our Home because it denies the reality of Love’s oneness. Yet the part of our mind that is our true Self calls to our heart to awaken from the dream. While we are engaged in the dream, this call is interpreted as a need to fill an emptiness, a sense of loss. But this need can never be satisfied in the dream. Searching within the dream always leaves us empty handed, searching for more.

To find the answer for this emptiness, we need to practice being still a moment and opening to the peace that is in us now, the peace of our true Self. Each time we pause and choose peace in place of conflict or loss, we open to receive the message of the inner Voice that calls to us unceasingly.

When we attend to this Voice, It will guide us to the memory of our true Home. It will teach us to recognize that the dream is not real and show us it can be replaced by the reality of Love’s oneness. Each time we step back and welcome peace, even for a moment, we take another step toward awakening and remembering our true Home.

God’s Will Has Always Been Our Will

I have already chosen what You will.

Father, I thought I wandered from Your Will, defied it, broke its laws, and interposed a second will more powerful than Yours. Yet what I am in truth is but Your Will, extended and extending. This am I, and this will never change. As You are One, so am I one with You. And this I chose in my creation, where my will became forever one with Yours. That choice was made for all eternity. It cannot change, and be in opposition to itself. Father, my will is Yours. And I am safe, untrou­bled and serene, in endless joy, because it is Your Will that it be so.

Today we will accept our union with each other and our Source. We have no will apart from His, and all of us are one because His Will is shared by all of us. Through it we recognize that we are one. All our anxiety, pain, fear and guilt come from believing we have defied God’s Will and laws. We have made a dream in which we appear to have our own will, separate from God’s and everyone else’s. This could only seem to happen in the unreality of a dream. This dream seems real to us only because we have invested our belief in it. We will awaken from the dream when we withdraw all our belief in it. In that awakening we will recognize that our will is the same as God’s Will, for we are one with Him. 

God created His Son by extending Himself without limit. All His attributes — His Will, His oneness, His peace, Love and joy. His Son is our true Self. In this world, His Son appears as many because of our belief in the possibility of more than one. When we return to identifying with our true Self, which is the one Self everyone shares, we will know that we are God’s Will and we have His peace, joy and Love now, because that is His Will.

We open our minds to accepting God’s Will as ours by letting the Holy Spirit be our Interpreter of all our perceptions in the world. He will show us the Light of Love beyond the images of the world. We choose Him as our Guide today.
