Accepting Freedom Through the Holy Instant

Start now to practice your little part in separating out the holy instant. You will receive very specific instructions as you go along. To learn to separate out this single second, and to experience it as timeless, is to begin to experience yourself as not separate. Fear not that you will not be given help in this. God’s Teacher and His lesson will support your strength. It is only your weakness that will depart from you in this practice, for it is the practice of the power of God in you. Use it but for one instant, and you will never deny it again. Who can deny the Presence of what the universe bows to, in appreciation and gladness? Before the recognition of the universe that witnesses to It, your doubts must disappear. (A Course in Miracles, T-15.II.6. See also ACIM Text Q & A.)

The central purpose of A Course in Miracles is to help us experience the holy instant — the moment in time when the past is forgot and the Holy present is accepted. We have taught ourselves that illusions are true and truth is illusion, leaving us confused.

But we have a Guide to lead us safely and lovingly out of the maze the ego has made. We cannot find the way out alone. But as we practice offering all our thoughts to the Holy Spirit for His translation into truth, we rise above the maze and find our way out.

We learn to recognize that no matter what appearances we may perceive in the world, we remain Love as Love created us. We rest in the peace of God. We rejoice in the gift of God’s joy. This is the gift the holy instant brings us, needing only our acceptance to be free.

Giving and Receiving the Gift of Forgiveness

Each unforgiving mind presents you with an opportunity to teach your own how to forgive itself. Each one awaits release from hell through you, and turns to you imploringly for Heaven here and now. It has no hope, but you become its hope. And as its hope, do you become your own. The unforgiving mind must learn through your forgiveness that it has been saved from hell. And as you teach salvation, you will learn. Yet all your teaching and your learning will be not of you, but of the Teacher Who was given you to show the way to you. Today we practice seeing past the body to the face of Christ in every brother. This is seeing the innocence, the pure Light of Love, in every brother. This practice reminds us of the Light of Love in ourselves. As we do this, we bless each brother and we are blessed. We heal and we are healed. Everyone needs to know they are loved and that, in truth, they are a loving child of God. Today practice, with Holy Spirit, rising above to see the Love that is everywhere to behold.

The Decision to Serve Holy Spirit

The mind that serves the Holy Spirit is unlimited forever, in all ways, beyond the laws of time and space, unbound by any preconceptions, and with strength and power to do whatever it is asked. Attack thoughts cannot enter such a mind, because it has been given to the Source of love, and fear can never enter in a mind that has attached itself to love. It rests in God. And who can be afraid who lives in Innocence, and only loves?

And God Himself extends His Love and happiness each time you say:

I am not a body. I am free. I hear the Voice that God has given me, and it is only this my mind obeys. (A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson 199, W-pI.199.2;8:6-9. See also ACIM Lesson 199 Insights.)

The choice to serve only the Holy Spirit is the greatest gift we can give ourselves and all the world. With this decision we rest in God’s perfect peace. We are certain of God’s Love and know It is our own. In this certainty, we are free from fear. We experience God’s joy, which is beyond comprehension in this world. We know God’s strength is our own and feel perfectly safe.

This choice is a gift beyond measure. The seeming values of the world fade into the nothingness from which they came as we hold our focus on serving the Holy Spirit’s purpose. Today we joyously dedicate to following Holy Spirit’s lead and serving His purpose.

Remembering the Holy Spirit Is Always with Us

Your Friend goes with you. You are not alone. No one who calls on Him can call in vain. Whatever troubles you, be certain that He has the answer, and will gladly give it to you, if you simply turn to Him and ask it of Him. He will not withhold all answers that you need for anything that seems to trouble you. He knows the way to solve all problems, and resolve all doubts. His certainty is yours. You need but ask it of Him, and it will be given you. (A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson 1, W-pII.Ep.1:2-9. See also ACIM Lesson 365 Insights.)

Today we would remember that our Friend, the Holy Spirit, is always with us in our mind, waiting to help us with every problem we think we have. Today we would remember we are not alone and friendless. Today we would allow our inner Comforter to lift us out of our confused thinking by shining His Light on our perceptions. Today we are willing to let go of what we learned in the past and be lifted above our illusions to remember the truth. Today we let Love’s happiness fill our mind with peace and a sense of well being that comes with remembering the truth of our one Identity in God.

Accepting Christ’s Healing Vision

This is the miracle of creation; that it is one forever. Every miracle you offer to the Son of God is but the true perception of one aspect of the whole. Though every aspect is the whole, you cannot know this until you see that every aspect is the same, perceived in the same light and therefore one. Everyone seen without the past thus brings you nearer to the end of time by bringing healed and healing sight into the darkness, and enabling the world to see. For light must come into the darkened world to make Christ’s vision possible even here. Help Him to give His gift of light to all who think they wander in the darkness, and let Him gather them into His quiet sight that makes them one. (A Course in Miracles, T-13.VIII.5. Forgiveness is letting go of the past. Thus forgiveness brings the miracle because it clears away darkness from the past and makes way for the Light of Love to shine through in the present. Each moment of forgiveness, letting go of the past, brings us closer to the gates of Heaven. Forgiveness lets us see the Light in our brother that is the one Light of God.

Today we practice opening our minds to the vision that comes as we let the Light of Christ shine away the past. As we welcome Christ’s vision, our minds are healed and we give the gift of healing to what we look upon. Today we would heal by accepting Christ’s healing vision.

We Practice Accepting the Real Life We Share with God

Let us today be children of the truth, and not deny our holy heritage. Our life is not as we imagine it. Who changes life because he shuts his eyes, or makes himself what he is not because he sleeps, and sees in dreams an opposite to what he is? We will not ask for death in any form today. Nor will we let imagined opposites to life abide even an instant where the Thought of life eternal has been set by God Himself.

His holy home we strive to keep today as He established it, and wills it be forever and forever. He is Lord of what we think today. And in His Thoughts, which have no opposite, we understand there is one life, and that we share with Him, with all creation, with their thoughts as well, whom He created in a unity of life that cannot separate in death and leave the Source of life from where it came. We practice accepting that we are still as God created us… We practice accepting the truth that God is pure, eternal Love, and we are extensions of God’s Love…

We practice acknowledging the truth today, that Love is our Source and we remain as we were created… We practice letting the Truth return to our willing mind…

Because we truly want the Truth, we receive it with joy and peace… We let God’s peace and happiness return to our minds today…

Accepting Holy Spirit’s Gentle Correction

What is the holy instant but God’s appeal to you to recognize what He has given you? Here is the great appeal to reason; the awareness of what is always there to see, the happiness that could be always yours. Here [in the holy instant] is the constant peace you could experience forever. Here is what denial has denied revealed to you. For here the final question [do I want to see what I denied because it is the truth?] is already answered, and what you ask for given. Here [in the holy instant] is the future now, for time is powerless because of your desire for what will never change. For you have asked that nothing stand between the holiness of your relationship and your awareness of its holiness. (A Course in Miracles, T-21.VIII.5. See also ACIM Text Q & A.)

“Do I want to be happy? Do I want to accept the truth of What I am, the Self that God created?” These are the same question. God’s Will for us is perfect happiness and our true Self share’s God’s Will. If we are not in constant joy it is because we have answered “no” to these questions.

The ego always says no to the truth. If we identify with the ego and its thought system, we are choosing against God’s joy and God’s peace.

By the grace of God, we have the means within our minds to change that choice. We need only offer all our thoughts to the Holy Spirit with willingness to have them transformed into the singular desire to accept the truth of What we are. The Holy Spirit will happily dismiss all our thoughts of denial and return our true Thoughts to us bright and clean, shining the Light of Love in our minds.

We dedicate today to practice giving all our thoughts to Holy Spirit for His gentle correction.
