The Gift of Peace

Holy Spirit to Robert:
Rest in Me. Rest in Me. Rest in Me. Let go of all your planning for your safety and comfort. I bring God’s plan to you with the sole intent of bringing you to perfect happiness, perfect safety and perfect peace. This plan will work; yours will not. Lay down your defenses against an imagined future.

Join with Me and receive the only plan that will bring you Home to your Self. This is what you really want. Nothing else will content you. This gift I offer you in every moment. Accept it now and be you blessed.

Robert:
I see myself being given a gift-wrapped box. I accept it and hold it to my heart. I know what is inside. Yet I want to hold it for awhile as if to prepare myself to fully accept what has been given me. I hold it quietly, feeling its comfort. Now I untie the bow and take off the lid.

There is no form inside the box, but as the lid comes off, I feel a wave of profound peace flow over me. I rest in it. This is all I ever wanted. I have it now and I realize I have always had it. I choose to deny it no longer. I choose to welcome it. And I realize that to keep it I must share it.

I am guided to prepare a variety of gift boxes. Each appears to be a little different, but they all have the same content. I put all the boxes in a sack and carry it with me. With my heart overflowing with joy, I hand out the boxes and I see that the form of the box is just the form that is easily received. The more I give, the greater the joy overflowing. I realize there is an unlimited supply of boxes. My only job is to share them, and I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to share.

Mary:
Right now I ask myself, “How willing am I to accept the truth? Am I willing to accept the truth that I am still as God created me? Or do I still want to insist that my replacement for God’s Will is true?” If I am truly honest with myself, I will come to a place where I remember that separate bodies are not real, and that Love’s formless oneness is universally true. This is what letting go and letting God means. Either I will judge for myself what is true, or I will make no judgments on my own and accept what the Holy Spirit shows me is eternally true.

My path to accepting the truth is to open my mind to accept God’s Gift of peace and quiet inner joy. There are no expectations here, for this holy place in my mind is timeless, with no past or future. I just open my mind to accepting God’s peace and all that I truly need and want is given me. Today is a day of accepting God’s peace. Today is a day of quiet following, letting my mind rest in the truth of What I am and Where I am always. Today is a day of letting go and letting God be in charge.

The Gentle Correction of Our Inner Teacher

Holy Spirit to Robert:
Worry is a form of thinking about the past. You are using memories of past experiences to make up a story about the future that is disturbing. You believe the story you made up so completely that your muscles tighten up in preparation to defend against this imagined future. The more you invest in fearful stories, the greater your preparation to defend against them.

Because there is really nothing there in the present to defend against, these defenses are taken out on the body. In the extreme, this leads to disease and even death. You do this to yourself based on nothing real. You do not need to do this.

In fact it is time to let go of made up stories. They do not serve you. Your investment in them stands as a barrier that keeps you from recognizing that you are eternally safe in the Love of God. Give Me your worries. Let Me take care of them. I will wash them clean of meaningless images and return to you what is kind and loving, what is real.

As you turn over these thoughts to Me, I will help you see that they have no meaning. In this recognition you will easily lay them down and the barriers to Love’s Presence will fade away. All I need to bring you indescribable happiness and comfort is your willingness to give me all your thoughts of the past. Your practice of this process starts with specific thoughts, specific fears, specific perceptions of guilt.

As you continue your practice, you will discover that what appeared to be release from a specific fear had far reaching effects that freed you and your brothers beyond what you can imagine. You will discover that situations which used to disturb you no longer affect your peace of mind. More and more you will walk in gratitude and peace. More and more will the face of Christ shine upon you as the Love in you recognizes the Love in all your brothers.

All this and more comes to you with the practice of willingly offering all your thoughts of fear and guilt to me. It is a gift you give yourself. Accept the gift.

Mary:
This morning when I went to the Holy Spirit and asked to see things through the eyes of Christ, this song came into my mind: Row, row, row your boat gently down the stream. Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily, life is but a dream.

The song doesn’t say “row your boat fearfully down the stream.” It says, “gently” and “merrily.” When I take the dream too seriously and forget that it is but a dream, I lose my sense of peace and quiet inner joy. This is why I need the gentle correction of my inner Teacher, for I have gotten lost in the dream scenarios once again. Thank goodness the Holy Spirit is right there to bring my mind back to the truth when I remember to ask for Its gentle correction.

When I look at the worrisome stories found currently in this worrisome world, I find it all too easy to get caught up in it. Our daily studies of A Course in Miracles really help me reorient my mind to what the truth really is. It is only then that I can relax enough to open my inner windows and doors to the Holy Spirit. As I am willing, the Holy Spirit gently shows me the truth beyond the dream. It is such a relief to know that the truth is constant and never changes. Everyone in all the stories of the world is safe in the Mind of God. Everyone is still as pure and innocent as God created them.

By the grace of God our dream scenarios could never be made real, no matter how hard we try to make them seem real. It is very necessary for me at this time to soak in this remembering. The peace that goes beyond all the stories of the world is felt very strongly. In this wonderful place of peace, I know the truth that nothing real can be threatened. And all the stories of separation are but hallucinations in my mind. I gladly hand them over. I gladly let them be removed.

Here, in this sacred place of truth, I know that God’s Son is safe because he still remains as God created him. This feeling of safety is beyond all words. I give thanks.

The Only Meaning Behind All Form

Robert:
Today we read the section, “The Truth behind Illusions” in the Text of A Course in Miracles. What stood out to me was, “They [illusions, the ego] must be neither cherished nor attacked, but merely looked upon as children’s toys without a single meaning of their own. See one [meaning] in them and you will see them all. See none in them and they will touch you not.” (T-30.IV.4:9-11)

This is a very simple, clear prescription to lead me out of the dream and back to the Home which I never truly left. There is nothing in this world of value to me. If I cherish any form, the whole world appears real. If I defend against or attack any form, the world seems very real. But when I see no meaning in any form of the world, I am free. No form attracts me nor threatens me.

The way is cleared for me to remember Where I am and What I am. All I need do to let go of the world is decide that I do not want whatever any form seems to offer me. All I really want is the Love of God, because all I really want is to be my Self. They are the same. It is my will to be Love and nothing else.

I have a long list of forms in the world that I think would comfort me or make me happy or safe. But this list is just a list of meaningless forms. Happiness and comfort and safety are already mine in the Love of God. All I need to do is recognize the meaninglessness of all forms and I will experience certainty and joy and peace beyond anything imaginable in the world. Today I will practice keeping my mind and heart open to the Love that is the only meaning behind all form.

Mary:
Today gives me another opportunity to practice choosing to accept God’s peace. Today I will practice stepping back and following Holy Spirit’s lead. In truth I am at Home in the Mind of God. I open my mind to accept the truth today.

Practice Stepping Back

Mary:
This morning we were led to read Review V in the Workbook for Students. This message from Jesus stood out to me: “I take the journey with you. For I share your doubts and fears a little while, that you may come to me who recognize the road by which all fears and doubts are overcome. We walk together. I must understand uncertainty and pain, although I know they have no meaning. Yet a savior must remain with those he teaches, seeing what they see, but still retaining in his mind the way that led him out, and now will lead you out with him. God’s Son is crucified until you walk along the road with me.” (W-pI.V.6:1-6, p. 330)

This message reminds me that I am not alone with the challenges I seem to face within this world of time and separate bodies. Our true Self remains within us all, willing to remind us of what is true. If I am willing, I will be led out of this false world I have made. I will be led out of the prison house I have built for myself.

As I am willing to let go and let God, as I am willing to relax and melt into God’s peace, I am brought to a new awareness. I am brought to a place of inner serenity and trust that is not of the world. As I put my true Self in charge of my mind, the past and the future disappear and there is only the eternal now. Here I remember that I am safe, I am innocent, I am Love, I am Home. Here there is nothing to defend against, nothing to worry about, for here there is no danger and no loss. Chicken Little’s false stories that the sky is falling can still be heard, but they are now seen as meaningless fear thoughts that drone on and on because that is all the ego knows to do. It is clear the the ego thought system is not what we all are. The truth about us all is that we are still the one Light of God and nothing else.

My only function now is to be willing with every situation to practice stepping back and letting my inner teacher lead me out of dream to the truth of Where and What we all are always. Peace and Love and joy remain constant. As I let go and let God, I receive the experience that only this is true.

Robert:
Nothing in this world can bring me lasting comfort. Nothing in this world can make me safe. Nothing in this world can bring me peace. Nothing in this world can complete me. Yet I can be comforted. I can be at peace and know I am safe in this world. I can be fulfilled because comfort and safety and peace are attributes of what I am as Love’s extension. I am complete because I could never truly disconnect from Love’s wholeness.

Thus it is my Self that is all I really want. To find this Self I need only remove the made up barriers of denial that seem to stand between me and what I am. This is what forgiveness is for. Forgiveness is simply letting go of belief that I am anything but Love. Through forgiveness I remember: “God is but Love, and therefore so am I.”

Hand Over Every Thought

Holy Spirit to Mary:
Let yourself remember What you are and Where you are. You are pure Love and pure Love is Heaven. This is your Home, where you reside eternally. Relax, let go and let yourself remember this. This is the truth about you and everyone. Only Heaven exists. This is your one, true Identity.

Forgiveness allows this memory of the truth to return to you. Forgiveness means that you are willing to let go of the false ideas you are now believing in. To forgive means to hand these false ideas over to the Holy Spirit, where they will be undone for you. A willingness to forgive the world for all you ever thought it was is how you attain your freedom.

Let your mind be quiet and hand over every thought that comes up to the Holy Spirit. You would not keep these thoughts because you now see that they imprison your mind. They are not true and you want only the truth. Here is your freedom from all pain or sense of loss. In truth, God has given you everything. Let yourself become aware of this now. Herein lies your happiness.

Holy Spirit to Robert:
Peace is your natural condition. The absence of peace is a sign that you are believing in a false idea of what you are. You need only let go of that false idea, forgive it, to be restored to your natural condition.

You made the false ideas you believe in. Because they are of your making and you believe them because you made them, you need help from outside your beliefs to recognize the falsity of these ideas. This Help is in your mind, ready the moment there is willingness to help you recognize that what you believe is real has no substance, no value and no effect. The moment you are willing to accept the Holy Spirit’s kind and gentle teaching, in that moment you are free.

Walk through this day, remembering that the Holy Spirit is with you in each moment. Let the Holy Spirit interpret all things in your mind. Let Him teach you what is real and what is not. Let Him teach you what is valuable and what is not. Let Him teach you what is worthy of you and what is not. Thus will you learn to gently lay aside all things that would disturb your peace and return to your natural condition. In your natural state you remember that you are Love and nothing else, and only Love is real.

Gently Down the Stream

Mary:
When I woke up this morning, my muscles were sore from all the activity during the past few days around getting the Miracles News magazine mailing out. It is time for me to remember that I rest in God and, in truth, that everyone rests in God always.

I let that thought, “I rest in God,” soak in my mind. I let myself relax into it. I breathe into it. I rest in God. Today I would follow as the Holy Spirit directs, knowing that in truth I rest in God all day. The gentleness of God’s Love floats through my mind. The stillness of God’s peace is always there no matter what stories seem to be going on. Today let me remember that I rest in God above all else.

Robert:
I have an image in my mind of floating in a canoe gently down a quiet stream. Without any effort on my part the stream carries me past beautiful fields of flowers, lush, green forests and quiet meadows. I relax more and more as I am carried quietly forward, smoothly and gently.

The stream continues on, carrying me along. It brings me to a city. I can hear the sound of traffic, of children playing, buildings being constructed and the sound of many voices in conversation. Still I rest at ease, being carried by the stream. The change in outer appearances does not change the fact that I am carried.

I need not concern myself with where the stream will carry me. I need only allow myself to be carried. In my heart I know the stream is carrying me Home. I know and trust the stream will carry me to where I need to be and to do what I need to do. Knowing that I am Homeward bound, I rest in confidence that I am carried in every moment. I need not try to paddle the canoe to go faster or jump out of the canoe and try to go ahead of it.

In allowing myself to be carried, I am letting go of all attempts to make any decisions on my own. It is in this relinquishment that I experience the peace that is my inheritance. Today I will practice letting myself be carried in each moment.

You Are Safe in God’s Peace

Holy Spirit to Mary:
Do you want a fuller experience of the peace of God? Start by just melting into God. Let go of your hold on the body. Let go of your hold on your story. Just soften. Relax. Breathe deeply and let go. Let it gently and quietly melt away. Your willingness to let go is important. Your willingness to let go is what allows the Holy Spirit to take over. Once you have given the reins over to the Holy Spirit, peace naturally replaces all the concepts that you had before about who you are and where you are.

Your willingness to soften and let go is like putting the welcome mat out to the Holy Spirit to heal your mind. All fear thoughts are replaced by peace. You know that all is well. You are allowing the Holy Spirit to return you to the truth. Here there is quiet. Here there is happiness. Here you are brought to your true beingness as Love in the Mind of God. Here anything that is not of God disappears because it was never true. It disappears in the Light because it was never true. It is only in darkness that the false images appear to be real.

You are now learning to let go of the darkness, let go of the false ideas which could never be true, which could never be real. You are learning what true forgiveness means. You no longer have to fight the Will of God by making up images of separation or separate bodies. You now willingly lay down your sword. You willingly let go of trying to make a world of separate bodies real. It feels so peaceful as you willingly let it all go and happiness replaces all sense of being alone and separate. The certainty that you are safe in God’s peace and joy and Love is very strong. Your trust is very strong. You rest in God’s peace. You rest in God’s peace.

Holy Spirit to Robert:
Imagine that you are in a cocoon of the Light of Love. This Light goes with you wherever you go. It cannot leave you because it is attached at the heart. It is a symbol of your Self.

Imagine seeing yourself moving through your day in this cocoon of Light. See yourself meeting other cocoon’s of Light and joining with that Light. See that even in your thoughts of others you join in the Light. See this Light surrounding even the seemingly inanimate objects you work with during the day — computers, printers, cars, machines, pieces of paper, all these are in the Light of Love with you. And so you see them all in the Light of Love.

In this seeing there is no past, for the Light of Love is now. In this seeing, the form diminishes in importance and the Love steps forward as you join with It. Let this be the way you meet each moment today, and your day will be one of happy joining.
