We Let the Christ in Us Lead the Way

Where could your peace arise but from forgiveness? The Christ in you looks only on the truth, and sees no condemnation that could need forgiveness. He is at peace because He sees no sin. Identify with Him, and what has He that you have not? He is your eyes, your ears, your hands, your feet. How gentle are the sights He sees, the sounds He hears. How beautiful His hand that holds His brother’s, and how lovingly He walks beside him, showing him what can be seen and heard, and where he will see nothing and there is no sound to hear. Here we see that Christ is in us and works through us. As we identify with Him, we feel the peace that comes with seeing past the world of specialness to the oneness forgiveness brings. We take our brothers hand in Love, to guide him along the way to truth that we have found. We experience the joy of joining with our brother as we let the Christ in us lead the way Home to our Father.

Undoing Our False Ideas

…the recognition that you do not understand is a prerequisite for undoing your false ideas.

It is difficult for the untrained mind to believe that what it seems to picture is not there. This idea can be quite disturbing, and may meet with active resistance in any number of forms. Yet that does not preclude applying it. No more than that is required for these or any other exercises. Each small step will clear a little of the darkness away, and understanding will finally come to lighten every corner of the mind that has been cleared of the debris that darkens it. We have filled our minds with the false ideas of separation from our Source. The more we practice stepping back from what we think we know and opening our mind to the Source of Inspiration That is always with us, the more our minds are healed.

As we continue opening to this Source, we learn that our true nature is Love and that we are still as God created us…

As we practice seeing only Love where we once saw lovelessness, we are filled with Love’s peace and joy…

We are open to experiencing the truth that we are eternal Love…

We are one with God’s Love and nothing else… False ideas of being separate from Love disappear in the Light of Truth.

Walking with Our Brother to the Light

Think not the way to Heaven’s gate is difficult at all. Nothing you undertake with certain purpose and high resolve and happy confidence, holding your brother’s hand and keeping step to Heaven’s song, is difficult to do.

To you who still believe you live in time and know not it is gone, the Holy Spirit still guides you through the infinitely small and senseless maze you still perceive in time, though it has long since gone. You think you live in what is past. Each thing you look upon you saw but for an instant, long ago, before its unreality gave way to truth. Not one illusion still remains unanswered in your mind. Uncertainty was brought to certainty so long ago that it is hard indeed to hold it to your heart, as if it were before you still. (A Course in Miracles, T-26.V.2:4-6;4:1-5. The dream of separation presents an illusion that we are separate from our brother, leaving us with a sense of loneliness and isolation. We need the help of the Holy Spirit to guide us past the images of separation and let them go. This is how we join with the Love that is our brother, taking his hand in unity and walking together to the Light of Heaven. The Guide to the Light has been given us. As we accept His help, we free ourselves to remember that we remain as Love created us. This is what time is for.

Accepting Holy Spirit’s Lasting Happiness

We have seen that there are only two parts of your mind. One is ruled by the ego, and is made up of illusions. The other is the home of the Holy Spirit, where truth abides. There are no other guides but these to choose between, and no other outcomes possible as a result of your choice but the fear that the ego always engenders, and the love that the Holy Spirit always offers to replace it.

Thus, it must be that your function is established by God through His Voice, or is made by the ego which you have made to replace Him.

You will listen to madness or hear the truth.… On one side stand all illusions. All truth stands on the other. Let us try today to realize that only the truth is true. (A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson 66, W-pI.66.7:2-8:1;10:1,6-8. See also ACIM Lesson 66 Insights.)

Holy Spirit, all I want is Your guidance… All I want is to follow Your plan… I choose to see as You see… I choose to follow the gentle inspiration returning me to the awareness of Love’s Presence everywhere…

I know that Love sees only Love, and that seeing the Truth brings eternal happiness to my awareness… I choose to be happy today following Love’s lead. Amen.

Accepting the Light of Truth in Us

Lay down your arms, and come without defense into the quiet place where Heaven’s peace holds all things still at last. Lay down all thoughts of danger and of fear. Let no attack enter with you. Lay down the cruel sword of judgment that you hold against your throat, and put aside the withering assaults with which you seek to hide your holiness.

Here will you understand there is no pain. Here does the joy of God belong to you. This is the day when it is given you to realize the lesson that contains all of salvation’s power. It is this: Pain is illusion; joy, reality. Pain is but sleep; joy is awakening. Pain is deception; joy alone is truth.

And so again we make the only choice that ever can be made; we choose between illusions and the truth, or pain and joy, or hell and Heaven. Let our gratitude unto our Teacher fill our hearts, as we are free to choose our joy instead of pain, our holiness in place of sin, the peace of God instead of conflict, and the light of Heaven for the darkness of the world. We gratefully open to reality… We relax and listen… We let false thoughts of pain and sorrow fall away… We would not hold on to them and pretend that they are real…

We let ourselves be carried by the gentle Light of Heaven… God’s gentle Light lifts us up above the false ideas found in the world of separation… We are lifted up and brought to the Truth as we are willing to accept this help from the Light of Truth in us… This is all we want… This is all we need…

Remembering to See as Christ Sees

Today we offer thanks that Christ has come to search the world for what belongs to Him. His vision sees no strangers, but beholds His Own and joyously unites with them. They see Him as a stranger, for they do not recognize themselves. Yet as they give Him welcome, they remember. And He leads them gently home again, where they belong.

Not one does Christ forget. Not one He fails to give you to remember, that your home may be complete and perfect as it was established. He has not forgotten you. But you will not remember Him until you look on all as He does. Who denies his brother is denying Him, and thus refusing to accept the gift of sight by which his Self is clearly recognized, his home remembered and salvation come.” (A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson 160, W-pI.160.9-10 italics added. Christ judges truly. He sees only His own innocence in every brother, reflected back. To see as Christ sees, we need to set aside the ego thought system and let the Holy Spirit teach us to look beyond bodies and forms in the world. They are merely false images made by the ego to deceive us into thinking the world of fear and guilt is real.

As we learn to let the Holy Spirit show us the Love and innocence that lies beyond the false images, we will remember our own innocence. Peace will dawn upon our minds, for where innocence is recognized, conflict disappears. Where Love is recognized, fear cannot exist. Today we will remember to see as Christ sees.

It’s Time to Resign as Our Own Guide

You need only recognize that everything you learned you do not want. Ask to be taught, and do not use your experiences to confirm what you have learned. When your peace is threatened or disturbed in any way, say to yourself:

I do not know what anything, including this, means. And so I do not know how to respond to it. And I will not use my own past learning as the light to guide me now.

By this refusal to attempt to teach yourself what you do not know, the Guide Whom God has given you will speak to you. He will take His rightful place in your awareness the instant you abandon it, and offer it to Him.

It is only because you think that you can run some little part, or deal with certain aspects of your life alone, that the guidance of the Holy Spirit is limited. (A Course in Miracles, T-14.XI.6:4-11;8:4. See also ACIM Text Q & A.)

Do we want peace? Do we want the joy of Heaven? Do we want to know that we are loved without limit? All this is available to us now. We need only resign as our own guide.

Today is the day to set aside our past learning and remember we do not know what anything means. Today is the day to welcome Holy Spirit’s inspiration and receive His gifts of peace, joy and Love.
