Answering Love’s Call

Call to your Father, certain that His Voice will answer. He Himself has promised this. And He Himself will place a spark of truth within your mind wherever you give up a false belief, a dark illusion of your own reality and what love means. He will shine through your idle thoughts today, and help you understand the truth of love. In loving gentleness He will abide with you, as you allow His Voice to teach love’s meaning to your clean and open mind. And He will bless the lesson with His Love. We let ourselves be carried by Love today… We open to Love’s Inspiration… and let It flow through us in each present moment… We let ourselves feel Love’s gentleness and peace…… We give all thoughts of conflict and fear over to Love’s gentle, healing presence… We trust that Love is the Answer to every perceived problem… We give our time to hearing Love’s Call today… and answer the call with our willingness to receive Love and extend It to everyone… Amen.

Opening the Door to the Peace of God

The peace of God can never be contained. Who recognizes [peace] within himself must give it. And the means for giving [peace] are in his understanding. He forgives because he recognized the truth in him. The peace of God is shining in you now, and in all living things. In quietness [the peace of God is] acknowledged universally. For what your inward vision looks upon is your perception of the universe. (A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson 188, W-pI.188.5. See also ACIM Lesson 188 Insights.)

The world we see and experience with the body is a projection of the ego thought system of separation. It is a world of conflict where peace cannot be found. We experience it because we have identified with the ego and believe it is what we are.

Yet beyond the appearances of the world is our real Home, where the Love we were created to be is in perfect unity with the Love of our Creator. Only peace is here, for there can be no conflict in what is one. We are eternally in this oneness and only need to remove our belief that the ego is what we are to experience the thoughts of Love we share with God.

As we practice stepping back from the chaos of the world and let ourselves settle into the quietness in our heart, we open the door to the peace of God within. We open the door to our Home. When we open that door, the Light of peace shines through and lights our world. This Light shows us the Love and peace that is always present, beyond appearances.

Today we practice taking time to welcome the peace and Light of God within. As we accept It, we naturally give It to all we look upon. Appearances fade as we remember more clearly the peace of God that is shining in us now.

The Outcome of Forgiveness

The outcome of the lesson that God’s Son is guiltless is a world in which there is no fear, and everything is lit with hope and sparkles with a gentle friendliness. Nothing but calls to you in soft appeal to be your friend, and let it join with you. And never does a call remain unheard, misunderstood, nor left unanswered in the selfsame tongue in which the call was made. And you will understand it was this call that everyone and everything within the world has always made, but you had not perceived it as it was. And now you see you were mistaken. You had been deceived by forms the call was hidden in. And so you did not hear it, and had lost a friend who always wanted to be part of you. The soft eternal calling of each part of God’s creation to the whole is heard throughout the world this second lesson brings.

There is no living thing that does not share the universal Will that it be whole, and that you do not leave its call unheard. (A Course in Miracles, T-31.I.8:1-8;9:1. See also ACIM Text Q & A.)

Today we practice learning the Holy Spirit’s lesson of forgiveness. In the past we have learned the ego’s lesson, which is to see the Son of God as guilty. Today, with Holy Spirit’s help, that lesson is reversed and we see that in truth every Son of God is innocent because he is still as God created him. We let the Holy Spirit remind us that nothing can happen to change God’s one Son. We let the Holy Spirit remind us that behind every illusion of guilt, the truth of every Son of God is only Love.

As we let Holy Spirit return the truth to our minds, we see a different world. Untainted by illusions, we see every brother as he really is. We remember these illusions could never be real. Today we let the Holy Spirit show us the real world where there is only innocence. With Holy Spirit’s vision we see past the separate forms of the world to the Light of Love that is eternally present.

Experiencing the Miracle of Love

Strength and light unite in you, and where they meet, your Self stands ready to embrace you as Its Own.

Let yourself be brought unto your Self. Its strength will be the light in which the gift of sight is given you. Leave, then, the dark a little while today, and we will practice seeing in the light, closing the body’s eyes and asking truth to show us how to find the meeting place of self and Self, where light and strength are one. (A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson 92, W-pI.92.9:2;10:2-4. See also ACIM Lesson 92 Insights.)

What the body’s eyes shows us is an interference with what the true Vision of our Self sees. The body’s eyes are the ego’s tool for making images that hide the truth and make the idea of separation seem real. Gratefully, we can redirect our attention to our inner vision. The inner vision of our true Self sees with the Light of Love. In this Light, only Love is seen because only Love is real.

We practice opening to true vision today. We close our eyes and let the images of the world pass by, giving them no attention… As we dismiss these images, we gently sink into deep peace… In this deep peace, we become more and more aware of the Light of Love… We see more and more the Love behind all appearances… Appearances fade and Love is recognized as our Reality…

This is our Self. In this recognition, we experience all our brothers as one with us… We share this Love… There is nothing else to share. Thus we meet our Self and experience the miracle of Love, extending without limit. This is our practice for today.

We Remain Safe in Love

…try to reach down into your mind to a place of real safety. You will recognize that you have reached it if you feel a sense of deep peace, however briefly. Let go all the trivial things that churn and bubble on the surface of your mind, and reach down and below them to the Kingdom of Heaven. There is a place in you where there is perfect peace. There is a place in you where nothing is impossible. There is a place in you where the strength of God abides.

Remember that peace is your right, because you are giving your trust to the strength of God. (A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson 47, W-pI.47.7:1-5;8:3. See also ACIM Lesson 47 Insights.)

Because God is in our mind, peace is in our mind. All that stands between the experience of God’s peace and our awareness of it is false images, projected by the ego false mind of separation. These images are held in place by our belief and nothing more.

The moment we stop believing separation could be real, the full experience of God’s peace will flood our minds and hearts. This is why forgiveness, letting go of belief in separation, is the key to happiness, the key to perfect peace.

Today we continue the practice of bringing all our thoughts and beliefs to the Holy Spirit with willingness to let Him wash them clean of the false and show us the reality that no matter what appearances may be, we remain perfectly safe in God’s changeless Love.

Accepting Our Home in Changeless Love

It takes great learning both to realize and to accept the fact that the world has nothing to give. What can the sacrifice of nothing mean? It cannot mean that you have less because of it. There is no sacrifice in the world’s terms that does not involve the body. Think a while about what the world calls sacrifice. Power, fame, money, physical pleasure; who is the “hero” to whom all these things belong? Could they mean anything except to a body? Yet a body cannot evaluate. By seeking after such things the mind associates itself with the body, obscuring its Identity and losing sight of what it really is. (A Course in Miracles, M-13.2)

The most repeated affirmation in A Course in Miracles is “I am not a body. I am free. I am still as God created me.” Wholehearted acceptance of this statement brings the complete release from the belief in sacrifice. Being still as God created us means that we already have been given all that is real. We already have all of God’s gifts. Because God is eternal, His gifts are eternal. In truth, we can never lose.

The belief that we are a body puts a limit on what we believe we have. This belief carries with it a sense of loss of all that God gave us. Out of this sense of loss, we are compelled to seek to fill the emptiness. But having already identified with the belief in being a body, our seeking is always directed to look where we cannot find what we seek. Remembering that we remain as God created us frees us from the vain belief that we are limited and lacking. It releases us to the experience of the infinite, eternal flow of God’s Love, always being given and received.

This is the complete opposite of what the world teaches. The Course offers us the means to reverse our thinking so that we may once again remember we are as God created us. Loss is impossible. Our joy is complete as we accept our place in the Home created for us by Love Itself.

Recognizing Truth

When a mind has only light, it knows only light. Its own radiance shines all around it, and extends out into the darkness of other minds, transforming them into majesty. The Majesty of God is there, for you to recognize and appreciate and know. Recognizing the Majesty of God as your brother is to accept your own inheritance. God gives only equally. If you recognize His gift in anyone, you have acknowledged what He has given you. Nothing is so easy to recognize as truth. (A Course in Miracles, T-7.XI.5:1-7. See also ACIM Text Q & A.)

In truth every brother is still as God created them. In truth the separate stories mean nothing and are nowhere. Today we practice seeing past separation, which is not true, to the oneness of Love’s Presence, which is true. We practice letting the truth return to our minds by stepping back and listening to the Holy Spirit’s inspiration all through the day.
