Rest in God’s Strength

The Course says that specialness is a lack of trust in anyone except yourself alone. This lack of trust is played out in many ways. One of them is worry. If I worry about anything, my mind is going through various imagined scenarios and attempting to make plans to defend against them. Clearly I am not trusting in God. Somehow I am trusting in a twisted memory of the past and trying to use it as a basis for defense. This is clearly insane and will not bring me peace.

Peace comes with trusting in the changeless. There is only one thing that is changeless: The Love of God. In His Love he has given us a loving Teacher, ever present in our minds, who is there to teach us how to let go of the meaningless thoughts of the past we hang on to. He is there to show us the strength of Love that is always with us and in us.

The simple reminder that I can offer myself, “God is the strength in which I trust” (ACIM W-pI.47) is the antidote for every worry, every concern. It is also the answer to the wish for specialness because it shifts my trust from a self-made image to my eternal Identity in God. Today I will remind myself often, “God is the strength in which I trust.”

Holy Spirit to Mary:
Remember that you rest in God today… Let this remembering sink in until you experience the feeling of deep peace… Let God’s peace carry you all through the day… This is placing your trust in God’s strength.
