Settling in to Heaven’s Peace

This is a day of stillness and of peace.

Christ’s vision looks through me today. ²His sight shows me all things forgiven and at peace, and offers this same vision to the world. ³And I accept this vision in its name, both for myself and for the world as well. ⁴What loveliness we look upon today! ⁵What holiness we see surrounding us! ⁶And it is given us to recognize it is a holiness in which we share; it is the Holiness of God Himself.

This day my mind is quiet, to receive the Thoughts You offer me. ²And I accept what comes from You, instead of from myself. ³I do not know the way to You. ⁴But You are wholly certain. ⁵Father, guide Your Son along the quiet path that leads to You. ⁶Let my forgiveness be complete, and let the memory of You return to me. In stillness, nothing changes; there is no movement. Our true Self is perfectly still, because Love is eternally the same. In this sameness is the eternal giving and receiving of Love without limit.

The wish for specialness is the wish to limit Love. While we dream of specialness, we need a Guide to show us the way to release the limits we have attempted to place on Love. We are grateful that we have Christ’s vision to show us the reality of Love beyond the images of separation. As we accept His vision, we settle into the peace of Heaven’s Love.

A Dedication to Follow Love’s Lead

I will step back and let Him lead the way.

There is a way of living in the world that is not here, although it seems to be. ²You do not change appearance, though you smile more frequently. ³Your forehead is serene; your eyes are quiet. ⁴And the ones who walk the world as you do recognize their own. ⁵Yet those who have not yet perceived the way will recognize you also, and believe that you are like them, as you were before.

The world is an illusion. ²Those who choose to come to it are seeking for a place where they can be illusions, and avoid their own reality. ³Yet when they find their own reality is even here, then they step back and let it lead the way. ⁴What other choice is really theirs to make? ⁵To let illusions walk ahead of truth is madness. ⁶But to let illusion sink behind the truth and let the truth stand forth as what it is, is merely sanity.

This is the simple choice we make today. ²The mad illusion will remain awhile in evidence, for those to look upon who chose to come, and have not yet rejoiced to find they were mistaken in their choice. ³They cannot learn directly from the truth, because they have denied that it is so. ⁴And so they need a Teacher Who perceives their madness, but Who still can look beyond illusion to the simple truth in them.

In every moment, we choose who we want to be our guide. Do we want the ego, who leads us down a path of illusions where lack and loss seem real? Or do we choose the Voice for God, Who reminds us of our innocence and invulnerability as He leads us on a journey of awakening to our reality in Love?

Willingness to step back to let the Voice for God lead us Home opens the door to experience our real Life in the oneness of God’s Love. When we identify with the ego, we deny our true Identity. Oneness and separation cannot coexist. The most the ego can offer is a meaningless dream that does nothing, though it seems to bring pain and fear into our “reality.”

We dedicate today to following Love’s lead. It will show us our unity with every brother. It will show us how to answer our thoughts of lovelessness with Love. Today we choose the path to Light, for we would awaken to our Home in Heaven’s Love.

Remembering Our Peace in God

…forgiveness is the means by which I will recognize my innocence. ⁵It is the reflection of God’s Love on earth.”

God’s Voice speaks to me all through the day.

²There is not a moment in which God’s Voice ceases to call on my forgiveness to save me. ³There is not a moment in which His Voice fails to direct my thoughts, guide my actions and lead my feet. ⁴I am walking steadily on toward truth. ⁵There is nowhere else I can go, because God’s Voice is the only Voice and the only Guide that has been given to His Son.

I am sustained by the Love of God.

²As I listen to God’s Voice, I am sustained by His Love. ³As I open my eyes, His Love lights up the world for me to see. ⁴As I forgive, His Love reminds me that His Son is sinless. ⁵And as I look upon the world with the vision He has given me, I remember that I am His Son. If we choose to identify with the ego, we are turning our back on our Creator’s Love. We are believing in a world where Love is denied, and guilt and fear reign supreme. This world is only a dream built on mistaken beliefs that could never be true.

Forgiveness opens our mind to welcome God’s Love. It opens our mind to receive His loving guidance to direct our thoughts, words and actions. A sense of vulnerability is replaced by the certainty of our sure protection in His Love. Where once we saw cause for guilt, we see only our innocence as His Son. We are at peace in God’s Love.

Letting Go of Our Mistaken Judgments

I judge all things as I would have them be.

Judgment was made to be a weapon used against the truth. ²It separates what it is being used against, and sets it off as if it were a thing apart. ³And then it makes of it what you would have it be. ⁴It judges what it cannot understand, because it cannot see totality and therefore judges falsely. ⁵Let us not use it today, but make a gift of it to Him Who has a different use for it. ⁶He will relieve us of the agony of all the judgments we have made against ourselves, and re-establish peace of mind by giving us God’s Judgment of His Son.

Father, we wait with open mind today, to hear Your Judgment of the Son You love. ²We do not know him, and we cannot judge. ³And so we let Your Love decide what he whom You created as Your Son must be. (A Course in Miracles, W-311. See also ACIM Lesson 311 Insights.)

The ego is a symbol of the wish for separation. It needs to perceive external images that it defines as different from itself. This is why the ego thrives on conflict. The perception of conflict justifies judgment.

Within the oneness of God’s Love, nothing external exists. There is nothing to judge. To experience this oneness, we need to disengage from the ego.

The Holy Spirit is always with us. If we are willing to accept His help, He will teach us to recognize that the ego’s wish for specialness can have no effect on our Reality as an extension of God’s Love. He will teach us to let go of all our judgments and help us to accept God’s one judgment that is wholly true: We remain eternally united with our Father in the oneness of His Love.

As we let go of our mistaken judgments, our vision becomes increasingly clear. We quickly dismiss the images that seem to portray separation, knowing they are meaningless. Instead, we see the Love that surrounds us and embraces us. We recognize everyone as part of the one Self we are as God’s one Son. We share our Father’s joy and peace.

Choosing to Accept Love’s Blessings

³You always choose between your weakness and the strength of Christ in you. ⁴And what you choose is what you think is real. ⁵Simply by never using weakness to direct your actions, you have given it no power. ⁶And the light of Christ in you is given charge of everything you do. ⁷For you have brought your weakness unto Him, and He has given you His strength instead.

Trials are but lessons that you failed to learn presented once again, so where you made a faulty choice before you now can make a better one, and thus escape all pain that what you chose before has brought to you. ²In every difficulty, all distress, and each perplexity Christ calls to you and gently says, “My brother, choose again.” ³He would not leave one source of pain unhealed, nor any image left to veil the truth. ⁴He would remove all misery from you whom God created altar unto joy. ⁵He would not leave you comfortless, alone in dreams of hell, but would release your mind from everything that hides His face from you. ⁶His Holiness is yours because He is the only power that is real in you. ⁷His strength is yours because He is the Self that God created as His only Son.

The images you make cannot prevail against what God Himself would have you be. ²Be never fearful of temptation, then, but see it as it is; another chance to choose again, and let Christ’s strength prevail in every circumstance and every place you raised an image of yourself before. ³For what appears to hide the face of Christ is powerless before His majesty, and disappears before His holy sight. The only meaningful purpose for our life on earth is to learn to choose Christ as our true Identity. That is the choice to accept the strength and Love of our Father as our own. We were created to share His joy.

Only in the ego’s dream of separation does it seem that we are weak and subject to all kinds of distress, loss and difficulty. The guilt and fear we feel are our calls for the Love that seems to be lacking. Properly perceived, they are reminders to choose again to accept the strength of Christ in us.

When we experience temptation, the ego’s response is to judge us and point out our failures. But the Holy Spirit sees it as an opportunity for us to forgive and let healing purify our minds of mistaken beliefs. We are grateful that every seeming challenge is an opportunity to choose to accept Love’s blessing.

Letting Go of Our Limitations

Forgive, and you will see this differently.

²These are the words the Holy Spirit speaks in all your tribulations, all your pain, all suffering regardless of its form.

Shall we not learn to say these words when we are tempted to believe that pain is real, and death becomes our choice instead of life? ²Shall we not learn to say these words when we have understood their power to release all minds from bondage? ³These are words which give you power over all events that seem to have been given power over you.

How can you tell when you are seeing wrong, or someone else is failing to perceive the lesson he should learn? ²Does pain seem real in the perception? ³If it does, be sure the lesson is not learned. ⁴And there remains an unforgiveness hiding in the mind that sees the pain through eyes the mind directs.

God would not have you suffer thus. ²He would help you forgive yourself. ³His Son does not remember who he is. ⁴And God would have him not forget His Love, and all the gifts His Love brings with it. (A Course in Miracles, W-193.5:1-2;6:1-3;7:1–8:4. See also ACIM Lesson 193 Insights.)

Forgiveness seems hard only because we are not willing to give up our special identity. It feels like sacrifice is demanded of us. But the cost for keeping this fake identity is a ‘life’ of uncertainty, fear and guilt that ultimately ends in death. This is only a dream.

Our real life is the life we live in God. It is an eternal state of peace, joy and Love. This is the experience of our true Self, the extension of God’s changeless Love. Forgiveness makes ways for Love to flow through us in the continuous giving and receiving of Love’s blessings.

Today we ask the Holy Spirit to help us forgive our beliefs in limitation. We want to remember we are united with all Creation in Love’s joyous blessings.

Letting Love Lead Us Home

I follow in the way appointed me.

I have a special place to fill; a role for me alone. ²Salvation waits until I take this part as what I choose to do. ³Until I make this choice, I am the slave of time and human destiny. ⁴But when I willingly and gladly go the way my Father’s plan appointed me to go, then will I recognize salvation is already here, already given all my brothers and already mine as well.

Father, Your way is what I choose today. ²Where it would lead me do I choose to go; what it would have me do I choose to do. ³Your way is certain, and the end secure. ⁴The memory of You awaits me there. ⁵And all my sorrows end in Your embrace, which You have promised to Your Son, who thought mistakenly that he had wandered from the sure protection of Your loving Arms. The choice to go our appointed way is the choice to be happy and live in peace. The ego asks for sacrifice, but not our Father. But when we identify with the ego, we project the belief in sacrifice on God. So we believe that dedicating our life to following our Father’s lead would require sacrificing things we value. But this is only the result of misplaced values.

Today we choose to value Reality. We choose to let Love guide us in all our thoughts and actions. We will recognize the Love we share with everyone. We will recognize calls for Love and joyfully answer with Love’s embrace. We are grateful that Love leads us Home to the Heaven of God’s Love.
