Seeing the Love in Every Brother

Beside you is one who offers you the chalice of Atonement, for the Holy Spirit is in him. Would you hold his sins against him, or accept his gift to you? Is this giver of salvation your friend or enemy? Choose which he is, remembering that you will receive of him according to your choice. He has in him the power to forgive your sin, as you for him. Neither can give it to himself alone. And yet your savior stands beside each one. Let him be what he is, and seek not to make of love an enemy.

Behold your Friend, the Christ Who stands beside you. How holy and how beautiful He is!” (A Course in Miracles T-19.IV.D.13:1-8;14:1-2)

In every moment we are choosing between seeing our brother as an enemy or a friend. If we are seeing him as a body, we are seeing him as an enemy because we are seeing him as separate from us. To see our brother truly as a Friend, we must disregard what the body’s eyes see and let the inner vision of Christ come forward.

It is this inner vision that recognizes our brother as our savior. This inner vision sees only innocence, because it knows only innocence. This inner vision is the vision of our true Self. Each time we lay judgment aside, we allow the vision of Love within to take its natural place in our awareness.
