Why Do We Want the Holy Spirit’s Help?

The ego offers us a seemingly endless list of things to do that will bring us happiness, safety, comfort, friendship, status — all centered around maintaining our identification with the body and a separate identity. If we consider the results of our pursuit of any of these things honestly, we see that they have never satisfied, never lasted.

The Holy Spirit offers us the means to step out of the uncertainty, vulnerability and chaos of the ego’s world. He offers us one Gift that is all encompassing. He offers us the remembrance of the Love of God, which is already ours.

God’s Love can transport us into a state of stillness and perfect peace that lasts forever. It brings us certainty and invulnerability that cannot be disturbed. “Through the Love of God within you, you can resolve all seeming difficulties without effort and in sure confidence.” (A Course in Miracles, W-pI.50.4:5)

This is what we choose when we choose to accept the Holy Spirit’s help. This is what we truly want in our heart of hearts. When we choose the Holy Spirit’s help, we choose the protection of God’s Love in all circumstances.
