Willingness to Practice

You are as God created you. Today honor your Self. Let graven images you made to be the Son of God instead of what he is be worshipped not today. Deep in your mind the holy Christ in you is waiting your acknowledgment as you. And you are lost and do not know yourself while He is unacknowledged and unknown.

If you are shaken, think of [the fact that you are still as God created you] again. These practice periods are planned to help you form the habit of applying what you learn each day to everything you do. Do not repeat the thought and lay it down. Its usefulness is limitless to you. And it is meant to serve you in all ways, all times and places, and whenever you need help of any kind. Try, then, to take it with you in the business of the day and make it holy, worthy of God’s Son, acceptable to God and to your Self. (A Course in Miracles, W-pI.110.9:1-2,4-5;Review III.11)

The couple who won the ice dancing Olympic gold metal had practiced for that moment for 17 years. They had a single focus all those years.

If we would awaken to our true Self, we need to have that same dedication to this one goal above all else. It seems slow and difficult to let go of our limited way of thinking only because we distract ourselves with other goals that seem to have more value.

But just as the ice dancers practiced many hours every day, we need to have that same willingness and discipline to apply the healing inspiration of the Holy Spirit every moment of every day. With this willingness to practice, practice, practice, we will reach the heavenly “gold” — the remembrance that we are still as God created us. We will carry God’s Thought of Love with us through the business of every day. With our willingness to practice, we are healed and we extend healing to the world.
